They have what I believe is a second passenger on the ground already. This suggests there were two passengers and a driver. Not sure if they confirmed whether the pink haired chick was the driver or not. Maybe she was the second passenger.

    The driver of the vehicle in the second segment should have been charged with reckless endangerment, felony eluding, and lost her license for a year for the way she drove. The shoplifting charge was minor compared to that. You see the comments that say they shouldn't pursue for shoplifting, but the officers never know what they will find in the vehicle and what other charges they may have until they are in custody. Often those shoplifting have outstanding warrants for much more serious crimes. If you say you can't pursue over XXX speed, criminals will immediately try to go 88mph and jump into the future...

      If even one citizen was trying to cross the street while the chase was on, they could have been hit and injured by the speeding vehicles. The shoplifting charge is minor compared to the risk of injury to citizens. What punishment would be enough to correct their criminal behaviour???

    • @jamesshank7918
      @jamesshank7918 Рік тому +7

      For the shoplifting, actually make them feel the penalty for the crime. In my old jurisdiction years ago, first offenses at LEAST got 24 hours of community service, often having to don orange jumpsuits and pick up trash along the interstate or public roadways. Win/Win, they paid back for their crimes AND the community benefited. Those who were deemed more severe cases, though NOT felonies, more hours of community service... perhaps something a bit less pleasant. Clearing brush, cleaning kennels at the dog pound, etc. Repeat offenders often got jail time. Juveniles got Juvenile corrections. Loss of freedom gets your attention.
      If you had to be pursued, it was felony eluding and you were charged as such. Reckless endangerment could be added if you put the public at risk. That felony conviction carried a long term bite... and because you put innocents at risk they didn't often plead it out. Later, new liberals got into office and it changed a bit, but as long as I worked in the system we never stopped pursuing... the public didn't want that and never proposed it.

    • @juanguzman3686
      @juanguzman3686 Рік тому +6

      To pursue or not pursue? That is the question! When you don't & they know that you won't pursue, these fvvkers would do anything to get away & I mean anything. They don't give a fvck for public safety.🤨🤨

    *To those of you who think that this is ok, it's absolutely not especially if you're like me and a hard worker and don't steal! The reason this hurts us is because in order for the store to recoup the money, they raise the price on other items in the store, and ultimately, us hard working folks are the ones paying for it in the long run so these people deserve jail time AND they should be required to pay back the store 10 fold! If they steal something worth 10 dollars, they should have to pay 100 dollars back!!*

    • @abyssalplanes
      @abyssalplanes Рік тому +17

      @MikeB-Android-Teacher Рік тому +8

      @@abyssalplanes - You're absolutely correct, which means in the end, even after the store using their theft coverage insurance policy, the store could have, let's say, a policy premium payment for 100 dollars a month (and yes for you stupid people the premiums are in the thousands of dollars! This is just an example!"). Let's say they reported 15 thefts that month. Now, next time, their premium payment is going to be 150 a month, and in order for them to get the money back for that , they raise their prices on everything and anything they possibly can! For instance, someone was stealing milk of all things, and the price back then was 2.65, and after a month, they went up to 3.30 AND they raised the 2% milk AND skim milk prices too even though the person was only taking the regular milk!! That's why I absolutely hate thieves and people who don't understand the concept that we're the ones ultimately paying the price for their B.S!!

    Politicians do not understand that criminals are not stealing food as that was the premise for de-criminalizing retail theft after pandemic. My family runs retail store in NYC, criminals are straight up robbing or they will steal high valued items from store to sell later on street corners. Issue is that insurance goes up when store owners have to file a claim each time they get robbed. Big store retail theft might be a rounding mistake in their books, but for small store owners it is life or death. My family has closed down the store in NYC even when there is couple of years on lease and have opened a store in Texas. It is like starting from 0 again and it is not easy.
