- A Very Rare Berliner Puzzle Plate recorded in 1901 - this is a Multi - track record - the idea being that you put the needle on the record and it plays a different tune. This particular record despite being 110 years old is remarkably good quality
Great record, what a find. I have a Regal puzzle plate, I would like to have one of these. Regards Marcel
@NEWbobofhollywood This may Be arly but it was done throughout the 78rpm era - they did a record in 1909 with four tunes called " The Conumdrum" and Columbia and regal issued 2 track records with a boring song on one track then the boring instrumental version of the same record as the second track ............They didn't sell well !
I wonder if Monty Python knew about the existence of this when in the early 1970's they recorded their 3 sided Lp Matching Tie and Handkerchief. It is similar to this puzzle plate disc in that one side of the record has 2 parallel spiral grooves each containing completely different tracks - thus - the 3 sided Lp! I have never seen any other record like this before in my life, so Thanks a Million for sharing it with me. I am quite impressed.
@Edisonfans19 I think people assume that because most Berliners have been rather played and sound awful on modern equipment that they were awful to start with - but that isn't the case at all !
Thanks! I really enjoyed it, especially the upbeat version of "Way to Kiss a Girl"
Is that Burt Shepard singing The Way To KIss a Girl ? It sounds like him....I''m jealous--would love to find that record!!
Probably
Is this record for sale?
Unfortunately the Colonel died a few years ago, his collection was inherited by Robert Godridge, if you’re looking to purchase it I’d ask him.
@Wolfganger yeah I noticed that, how sad
:( the colonel seemed like such a neat guy
