- In my latest Landscape photography adventures I try a new dimension to my woodland photography by putting a speedlight in my bag. This gives me the option to create some interesting light in my images.

I definitely want to try this the next time I'm out with my camera. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching
Ian, I can't resist an old twisted tree also.😂
I'm learning about off camera landscape photography and thanks for your videos and I enjoy the shots.😇
Thankyou for watching Russell
Such a Smart Idea Ian. Very informative and thought provoking video. Many thanks for sharing the technique.
Thanks for watching Shaun. I enjoyed trying something a bit different 👍
Interesting technique Ian and never considered this before although I have thought about using flash to capture raindrops (but never tried it) I’m definitely no connoisseur on flash settings to so learn about the directional and wider settings was great . I think woodland is the ideal setting for this other than portraiture of course and you can see the difference and benefit when deploying the technique. Learned something this morning and more
kit to add to the bag !! Have a good week ahead.
Thankyou for watching Andrew. Glad you got something out of it. 👍
Really enjoyed that
Thanks very much
Thanks for watching, happy that you enjoyed it. please check out some of my other videos. 👍
An interesting technique. It does provide decent shots where they may not be available with the ambient light. BUT - you will soon need to employ a Sherpa or two. LOL
Thanks Nick yes I have to lighten the load in this hot weather 😅
Interesting concept. I am currently doing some tree photography for a project. I thought about using a flash, however after seeing your video I am definitely going to try it. Thanks for sharing. The photos captured are beautiful.
Glad you enjoyed it. Please check out some of my other videos.
@@IanBarrowPhotography thanks for the response. I am looking at the other videos. Kudos to you on excellent material and great advice.
You under expose your photos. Can you elaborate.
I expose for the highlighted areas which will underexposed the darker areas, then in this example use the flash to highlight the subject. If highlights are blown out you cannot pull them back in post processing but it is easier to lift shadowed areas.
Great video, always thinking about using off camera flash for portrait work but this is a different twist, must give this a go. Judging by the area that you shoot in I'm guessing you can't be that far away from me in here in North Devon.
Hi Ian thanks for taking the time out to watch my videos please check out some of the others. I am based in Bridgwater Somerset but get to Devon and Dorset fairly regular. 👍
That was different mate, worked though.👍🏻 Be interesting to light a subject in the distance and see how that would work.Nice one Ian.👏🏻👏🏻
I did a distance shot. It is in the ones at end but didn’t use the video footage as it wasn’t one that I was happy with. Definitely going to use technique again and light subject in distance and experiment. 👍 see you soon mate
Thank you for sharing this. Just a quick question, have you experimented adding in diffusion and a multi-flash set up?
Hi thanks for watching and to answer your question, not yet but I am considering trying, quite fancy some backlight as an addition. Please check out some of my other videos
I didn't like it at all. A very unnatural feeling.
Appreciate your feedback and opinion and yes it’s not for everyone but shown to give others ideas. Natural light is always best but this can be used to put a different look/feel to an image. Always experiment, some things work some don’t. Thanks for watching, please check out some of my other videos
