The shrimp paste is for Kare Kare and the other one is Pork liver sauce is for lechon kawali. Theres a dish called Binagoongan which is made from sauteed shrimp paste and pork so yes the pork and shrimp paste goes well together, and yes Philippines is in South East Asian, most of our dishes had Spanish Chineese and i believe some Malay influences

Knives are only used to prep our meat and vegetables. Or cut a huge lechon. Cutlery was introduced but the fork and knife pair did not stay due to the type of food we have. So the pair spoon and fork are widely used. Spoon is convenient because all our 3meals include rice. Spoon to scoop soup as well. And some of our dishes are saucy. The spoon also plays the role of a knife.
Never really heard about Royalty cutlery, though. I might be missing something…

Hi! The brown sauce with anchovies is shrimp/fish paste and it is usually used as a condiment for kare-kare as it compliments the dish and it gives the salty taste that the kare-kare lacks. Also, when the woman on left dipped the pork on the fish paste, there’s a dish that is based on that idea called “binagoongan”, and is definitely one to try!! Such lovely sisters, greetings from the ph!! 🇵🇭

The shrimp paste is for kare kare, put a little paste in your kare for every bite. It will enhance the flavor.

You nailed the pronunciation! ;) Buko Pandan is made from coconut cream and tropical screwpine (for the fragrance) coconut strips and jello. Sago and gulaman is tapioca and jelly drink with banana essence. You should try Crispy Pata (deep fried pork knuckles) next time! All the best from Philippines!

We actually have a dish of pork with the shrimp paste called Binagoongang Baboy. The shrimp paste is a bit like anchovies in the sense it's very salty.
And yes we are part of South East Asia 😀

Sauteed shrimp paste goes with Kare Kare and also good with green mangoes. The brown liver sauce goes with Lechon Kawali. Try putting Calamansi or lemon over the pancit.

  • @shemayacui

The anchovies/shrimp paste is the sauce or dip for the kare-kare and the liver sauce for lechon kawali. Adobo, kare-kare and lechon kawali goes well with rice. The pancit bijon/ bam-e goes with lemon.

7:33 is for kare kare. It's fish paste cooked. A little sauce for kare kare to be more salty. The brown sweet sauce after that one is for the pork. Makes me hungry 😋

The lady on the right should try the lechon Kawali..It seems like the lady in the left love the lechon kawali the most. OMG the rating is so low just a "6"....The knives was not used by the local Filipino because during the Spanish colonial era, it was banned because the Spaniards did not trust the Filipinos because they might used it as a weapon, like for self defense like the "Sundang" in Bisaya, or bolo, "kampilan" which Lapu Lapu used against Magellan the Spanish conqueror, The modern Filipinos use knives now...Thank you for loving the Filipino Food and sharing it..🇵🇭💓😊🌷🌻

Hi! Ladies...Lechon Kawai as in ( Fried Pork Belly) goes with sweet pork liver sauce(Mang Tomas sauce ) ...while Kare Kare goes with shrimp paste condiment because its bland taste needs some sort of sauce to compliment each other...they all need to go along with rice...because all of it is a rice base menu except for fresh lumpia (Lumpiang sariwa) and Ube cake which is a snack or ''Merienda''.Enjoy girls...God bless!

  • @jessicaal415
    @jessicaal415 3 роки тому

What she thought was anchovies is actually shrimp paste, usually sautéed in garlic onions and tomatoes. More like a condiment, it’s best eaten as a seasoning as it is very salty and in this case as already mentioned you spoon out a small portion and eat with Kare Kare and rice. The reason why the other thought the Kare Kare was bland. It’s not complete without the shrimp paste aka bagoong. I promise you it takes the dish to another level.
What you thought was gravy and she ate with the lumpiang sarawi is the dipping sauce for lechon or levin kawali, basically made with liver, vinegar, sugar, garlic, pepper and other spices.

  • @kimmymukang8282

Nice vid, yeah Filipinos eat with spoon and fork, or with hands. We don’t use knives, hard to say exactly why because some people say it’s because the knives are used exclusively by the aristocracy but some people say it’s because during the Spanish colonization, because Filipinos were real handy with a knife because of Kali (Filipino indigenous martial arts), they were banned from having any blades of the sort. It’s the same reason why the traditional Filipino clothing (barong) is translucent, to make sure they weren’t concealing any weapons underneath. I think the first reason is more likely, but I just think the second is cooler and hilarious 😂😂😂.

The red anchovy like sauce is a shrimp paste that goes well with the KareKare and the brown gravy like sauce is a liver sauce that is for the Lechon Kawali. A combination of soy sauce vinegar and slices of chillies is also a good dipping sauce for the Lechon Kawali.
