The cool thing about Hsk is then you can test yourself and see how you do. I actually find Hsk exams fun because it is like trying to solve a puzzle sometimes 😀

I find rewriting the sentences using recently taught vocabulary very useful. For example: 我打算带你打扫房间 at about 1:39:32 uses the three most recent vocabulary words. 只是一个主意

Strangely enough, I must be learning because even though I don't understand much in Chinese songs, I do however recognize the characters and how they sound, and so, I can already listen and quickly find my place in order to read along even without Pinyin. I even like to look ahead a bit once I know what word we are on, and this allows me to know what to expect to hear since I already know most of the common sounds associated with many of the everyday characters. Sometimes I don't understand what the meaning is, but I often notice that I can already read out a whole sentence or song title in Mandarin and I know I'm pronouncing it good enough since Google translate understands a nd writes correctly what I said. Sometimes this gives the impression that I know what I'm saying including the meaning, but actually I'm much better at recognizing the characters and their corresponding sounds than I am at actually understanding.
