Amazing clarity of sound, before digital, and mostly done in one take in those days. Great playing, much of it on old instruments. Thankyou so much Martin! Doesn't everyone look so young?

That's my dad Bill Verdon at 5:46. The band was awesome in those days. Thanks for posting this.

Well I’m very glad you got to see it. What an absolute gentleman Bill was - he had a calm and clever mind snd when the going got tough (it wasn’t all fun!) Bill was always there to listen and sort you out. And what a clarinet player - the best in the military band world . I used to look along the line in awe! Freezing cold day at Easter on the Eastbourne Bandstand - audience of two , and they were asleep , and Jimmy Howe would say ‘ok put up the Weber Clarinet Concerto - and he’d take it at a hell of a speed . And Bill wouldn’t bat an eyelid - just play it perfectly - salute and sit down . He never rose to what was I suppose Jimmy Howes sense of humour . And a dry and brilliant sense of humour . A legend!
