Hey i discovered youre game today ,while typing "Evolution Simulation"into the youtube searchbar and then found yourr channel watched youre video,s and man ,what you did is so amazing keep up the good work i will definetely buy this game when im back home ,its even better than spore and i had joytears watching the videos and that all by a single person,you i cant thank you enough for putting so much effort into it

This is what I wanted from spore but delivered in a different way
Some ideas:
Digging, animals could evolve a limb that allows digging. For example: if a predator is chasing some prey they can dig a burrow and hide in it until they can leave.
Predators can evolve this limb to create a burrow and ambush prey that walks by.
Maybe you could even get an upgraded digging limb allowing creatures to burrow into bark and have their eggs safely stored inside until the plant dies at least
Some prey could evolve poison and some predators could evolve venom
Or some plants can evolve poison and creatures with the right mouth can eat these and get poisonous from eating these plants.
Hey Random Wolf, thanks for writing down your ideas! These are exactly the types of features I am thinking about as well. Just out of curiosity, are there any real life animals that store eggs inside tree bark, or use plant poison to poison other animals?
@@TheSapling The European hedgehog has a self anointing behavior where it chews on toxic substances and spits them onto its back
I mainly got the animals getting toxic after eating plants from caterpillars who eat toxic plants then become toxic themselves
I’m not sure if animals store eggs in treebark but some insects do
Of course they wood need good digging tools like woodpeckers and their beak

@@TheSapling oh also there’s a bug where evolved creatures will turn back to the original creatures you placed when rejoining or going in and out of mutation
Only some of the evolved creatures turn tho
One more idea to consider:
Intimidation, where prey could use horns or puff out their wings like an ostrich to intimidate predators not to eat them, which only works sometimes
@@TheRandomWolf Thanks for mentioning, I've noticed this as well... this stems from an attempt to make loading times shorter, and for these creatures apparently something went wrong so there is no 'more accurate' model available for them. It's on my list to come up with a better algorithm for this.
Awesome idea, I've been thinking about intimidation body parts already for some time but it never occurred to me that all winged creatures already have something to work with :) (as always, no promises)

Hey can you add a water update so fish can be a thing, also can you add seeds the pretty much just 3 types of seed which are the ones which dropped off the plant ( it may travel thow the air the travel long a distances, ) the other is the ones get pooped out, last one is a sad which hangs onto the animal (much more likely to latch on a animal with fur).
E) this will also help mixing different plants and animals split apart

Having said that, I like the idea of roughly following what players are interested in, and aquatic life is the most requested feature BY FAR ;) .
I've seen people speculate about different types of fruit as well, but I've never seen latching onto animals with fur as a suggestion, thanks (taking notes) !

I have been watching you demos and I noticed that plants (and because of that animals don't ever stay). To fix this I think animals should be able to pick of 'spores' or 'seeds' when rubbing up against plants, given they have fur or feathers, then later fall of. Not only could this get plants across water it could also add more ways for plants to spread offspring. I also think allowing creatures to evolve specialized legs to 'wade' across rivers, could lead to some really interesting behavior.
Also a sort of fish could be interesting but I don't think its very necessary

I know you've probably already thought about this, but could you add camouflage, at least to herbivores? Green makes them less detectable from short distance, brown from long distance. Great game!

Hey its me again i have watched an awesome youtube video called Life beyond 2 i think it would be really cool to see some things that are in the documentary in the sapling,i know for 1 person its really tough when not impossible but i just want you to watch it ,you are most likely to not code anything in the game with that complexity but maybe it can give you inspiration for new things,whatever gets added into the game in the future ,i will always support it

Pants:Diffrent plant colors themself and fungi that thrives in the dark ,diffrent sandbox maps with different envirement Animals:i find mechanic life also reslly cool and that it outcompetes biological life but i dont think that would work since they require energy and therfore technology,but maybe there is a way to make like at some places are things that they can use to charge,Also it would be envirementally cool to change the sea level and sun strenght and like black plants are most effective on dimm sun strenght because they take all the light ,Personally i think the sandbox mode now feels more like freeplay ,this is not an insult i really love the things you do
but i want to say i am not a programmer or a coder and dont know how much work it will be for one person (if even possible)and it surely would be alot of work for you but i would be happy for any of the features making it into the game
And these are just things that would be nice to have but not quests,keep that in mind
I also dont really think that the Mechanic lifeforms would fit really into the games sheme,maybe if you know how to do it ,maybe a a DLC for it that can be turned off and on ,overall if do alot of these things i think it would be more than enough to pay extra for it

Quick question, are you going to add an aquatic update, and will you be able to make the creature builder have more connection parts so you can put ears on the head along with eyes? Hey RK Choopy, thanks a lot for your feedback, much appreciated! I try to never make promises so I can freely change my mind later (and I indeed do that all the time), but aquatic life is indeed an idea I like and requested on a daily basis.
About the mount points (=connection parts): this is an early decision I made to limit the complexity of the game, so I would actually have something playable within my lifetime. I reversed many early decisions, so perhaps one day I'll reverse this one as well, but so far it really sped up the development of the game

It's mostly EWQL Symphonic Orchestra and East West Hollywood Choirs. I use FL studio to put everything together, but that could have been any DAW :).

@@TheSapling Well, smooth shading looks much better in itself, but it also requires more polygons. But since the creatures and objects have very few of them for performance reasons, the smooth shading looks strange. I prefer the edgy low-poly style then.

Grass is also something that I see requested from time to time, although I'm not sure yet how that would work without frying everybody's GPU ;)
season 2 when?
The first steps for the next update, and thus the next devlog season, are currently being taken :). The previous updates took about 6 months to make.
