With the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, most of us have found ourselves quarantined or isolated to our homes. A lucky number of us have the upside of being able to work from home and its like a one time opportunity to get into Workcation. Few days back i finally decided to take this much needed vacation with work and landed in Kasol.
Kasol is a hamlet in the district Kullu, Himachal Pradesh. It is situated in Parvati Valley, on the banks of the Parvati River, on the way between Bhuntar and Manikaran. Very calm, peaceful and scenic place to be in. With temperature already going down its perfect to enjoy in Kasol.
With new normal coming in, Kasol and other places in mountains are welcoming travellers with good connectivity and long term stay facilites. I prebooked my stay with workcations.in and came here. The stay is hotel/homestay and have homely food, descent internet connectivity and room have perfect view of mountains. I stayed in Hotel Aman Palace, you can find better alternatives as well.
In this video I have shared my typical daily routine while I was trying to adjust of this brand new way of living my life in the mountains. Along with that I have shared the cost incurred and other necessary details to guide you to take an informed decision if you are interested in working from mountains as well. Is it really feasible for all working professionals? Watch the video to know in detail...

Bhai video me btaya hua mne......video pura dekho ...merko per day ka do jano ka 1000-1100 ke kareeb ata tha breakfast khud cook karta tha ....as they have provided me small kitchen .....and pass me hi kasol ka.main market tha 10 minute walk pe so vha thali 140 ke around thi....so kabhi vo khatha tha and agar evening me kuch khane ka Mann kia tha bhut sare cafe hai kasol main market me hi vha try karta tha kuch to sab milake do jano ka 1100 per day me ho jata tha

Even the native people are very humble and genuine here in Himachal as they have a very little impression of outsiders culture. All the tourists are treated very well here and there is no intention to make big profit by any type of greed.

Honestly, now people are actually knowing the worth of mountain. also this is a bit expensive for long stay in mountain, my cousin works in a bank in Rudraprayag, and he is staying in rental, paying total 2,500 for one room/month, with 2 other roommate.
now obviously it might not be the best but it more or less similar small room, a kitchen and basic necessity. its a good business for people in mountain they don't have to migrate to cities for earning.
Actually it's depend on the places...like this stay is in Kasol very near to market....I have explore other options too but I can not find options less than even 1000....and I need room per day basis...so this is the best I can find there.....but if I find room just 3 km next to Kasol then I can get it in less then 100 rs per day...so it's depends on the location where you want to stay.....but if you looking for long stay then may be they negotiate it's depends on the season and crowd .....

My is doing work from home but my son have to visit office twice a week... Spending money here is worthful.. God bless you... Good idea I will share with my son.

No problem of electricity....in my time i have only felt issue of electricity 2-3 times only for half hour ...in a week

Hey! Great video. I am going to graduate in a month and I'm seriously considering moving to Kasol for a month and work from there. I am kinda sick of living in Mumbai and wanted to go away for a month. But can't give up on work and an income so this literally feels like the perfect solution

It's depends on your need ..I can say it's best budget options in Kasol as well connectivity is also good in this place.

Yes you can find many hostel for same rate just try near market in kasol definately you would find option in 30k otherwise take this place .....it has good view and about food just 10 min walk from here you can find market where you can get good thali in 150 rs ....

No 500 is not including with food ....yes they provide cooked food ....but they charge extra for that ..and prices are dependent on the crowd and season

Yes you can find 1 rk near Manikaran or choz area but near Kasol market it's impossible to find may be if you are lucky then you can find but still I suggest you try near Manikaran

Yes Jan is good ....and 4g connectivity is also good here specially for Airtel and Vodafone

In winter here...day temperature is around 1 to 6 degree and night here 2 to -3....so it's bearable you will easily survive here as lots of people also living here 😇

According to me it's best place to live there .... although I am also not from himachal pradesh but I love himachal pradesh..... basically it's depends where you want to live ...I suggest you live in Manali as you can find all facilities there. But still if you have doubts then first try to visit these places for 1 or 2 weeks and then decide you really want to stay there or not

You should also try " the Royal orchard' it's beautiful property it's connected with near and very perfect for work from home. Very near to Thakur cottage. I was there for 50 days. You should check it out

Cost of Grocery depends on you....in my case I can mange 500 per day for food two people.....and wifi is free

how far is a hospital?
There are 4-5 medical shop available just 5 minutes walk from this guest house....but I think hospital are available in Bhuntar which almost 30 km here ...you can easily find cab or local bus from Kasol main market which will take 1 hour to reach Bhuntar ..... thanks

They have many rooms ....so I took 1 room for two people which cost me 500 per day with kitchen.....but if you only want to stay may be they will give you discount...it's totally depends on your negotiation skills...
500/- per day was given when during PANDEMIC period no tourist was around
And since the family was in panic and scared as such kitchen for these guests was allowed to make them feel comfortable and cook by themselves

Travel chattter was allowed to stay in such low price in order to accommodate them ( allowed use kitchen to assure their heigine and safety in civid tume) while no tourist was there in the whole area .

Dharamshala has a much better place, in 12-15K u can rent a lavish room with kitchen for a month, and food can be arranged easily from nearby market as well. 😀

I was there in IIT mandi..did you went to choj valley..there is this cafe flipside...I guess the best..in kasol....
Yup many time ...even I almost covered every cafe of Kasol tosh choj chalal rasol ....and so on....So you are supposed to be there for study not for understanding the phenomena of cool vibes of Kasol 😁...am I right ? 😛
