Actually, the dry season is partly also the cold season (like May to September) which makes it more bearable for "wazungu". But beware: depending where you go it will be surprisingly cold. And some areas don't have a small rainy season anymore but a combined one starting anywhere from December and lasting until May.
On the southern cicuit in Tanzania (Nyrerere) there are no crowds in the summer and it's very affordable - around $1,000 per person for a five day safari booked with a local tour company. The Serengeti is over priced and over crowded IMO.
Thank you for watching, I hope you found this video helpful! March can be a rainy month in many parts of East Africa, it depends on where you’re thinking to visit specifically. Regardless, you definitely can enjoy shoulder season rates and availability during this time 😄
When is the best time to go to Serengeti to avoid the tsetse fly? When I went in June/july 2022 the flies were bad. I would love to go back, but Is there a certain season or time of the year when there’s none or a lot less of them?
@@DeborahMayson unfortunately they always a nuisance. Some areas are better controlled than others, so it depends which areas of the Serengeti you were. With a lot of lodges concentrated in the Central Serengeti, there is a collective effort to reduce the flies in that area. They tend to be worse during rainy seasons like March-May. During dry July they’re more manageable, but as you experienced, they’re never fully gone.
Wow 😮 it was amazing safari...
What will be the temperature and climate in early Feb. Is it ideal to spot animals
Thank you I was in both the north and central Serengeti
