If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend the movie "Beyond The Light" by Dr. Raymond Moody (the very man who discovered and coined the term NDE), and the "Life To Afterlife" series of documentaries with Craig McMahon. They make so much sense and changed my beliefs, but in an enlightening and comforting way, because it made me turn away from the thought that there's nothing after all this suffering 🤷🏽♂

I never understand why my husband was listening to Alan Watts so religiously in the summer 2020...then he passed away in 2021. He was coming to terms with his own death, and I believe it helped him pass soundly and truly accepted it.

@@innerpeace42232 Nice words David, I hope the OP saw them. You hang in there too, it does get better with time, in early 2018 I lost my partner of 12yrs and my mum within 2 months, it floored me. By the end of 2019 I was on the way back, you get used to being alone, you heal. This current mess has knocked me back, but I hold on to the fact that I recovered once, and will again. Hang in there and try to find positives to focus on, no matter how small, you'll get there. Be strong.

The wisdom and insight that comes from within Alan Watts, is the complete opposite of what religion is trying to do. Religion restricts, constricts oneself. Religion causes one's self to hold back one's true potential. Like keeping a bird in a cage. Listening to Alan Watts is like I'm flying in my dreams. I'm light as a feather, and with just a thought, I can take off to wherever I want to go. Why would not someone not want to fly like an Eagle?

Such as what Alan Watts is doing by speaking to you with words he presents a form of thought and understanding, but to do something out of that is completely up to the individual. Therefore, words do teach, but action and living/experiences are far greater teachers.

Mike, what will you tell me if I tell you, i got the covid-19 and was so sick for 5 days i was almost gone, and then i found myself floating deep in my subconscious so deep, i experienced the biggest peace in my heart and mind, in there i cried to God to take me with him, because everything was so peaceful i didn't want to come back to me conscious mind. God answer i needed to come back because there were a lot of things to finish. Since then i am not the same. I can feel the energy of others, i can think fast about some things, and so more. I don't know what happened to me, i wish someone could tell me. I just know, i am not the same.

Because as spoken by Alan watts himself and my understanding of his very nature in the way of his thinking is to have Yang and yin ☯️ neither one is wrong and neither is right. Both exist as one. The view of contrast is obvious. But the less obvious is to view them both as connected! not as separate. I see that as his message. But for me, it is still missing a certain edge. A certain realisation.

@@surgeclemency5086 I think Watts does mix metaphors a bit here (not sure i'm saying that right, but i think you get the gist of it), the floodlight really isn't "out there" it is the inside of us that has been dimmed/obscured. Once we allow ourselves to get past the distractions of the spotlight outside focus, we are freed to see the floodlight, showing the infinitely eternal consciousness we all are. It is then we enter the silence, stillness of void. It is here we see our true self of being of love, happiness, wholeness... this has always been there, only not seen. we now know time, space, death, our visible physical world are only illusions, like a mirror we look into with borders (a frame) selectively only showing a small small limited reflection of the allness, wholeness we are.
Cosmic consciousness is lovely. It brings peace, joy, self-acceptance; acceptance of everything going on around and within you. Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, Michael Singer, Tara Brach, and last but not least, Mooji have given me this gift. But I have to attend to it. I meditate every a.m. without fail and pray for peace, within and without. My days are quite blissful since I began listening to these precious teachers, praying and meditating regularly.

I have a family & that is fulfilling but I think my lack of shallowness or loneliness is that I really truly understood what is spoken here... from experiences, I would call them near death experiences.

What a great and fascinating lecture! It really gives me the goosebumps after realising that we all are part of the cosmic dance. I will never forget my first four wheel drive vehicle that during Christmas my son and i with shovels spend a night helping people stuck in the snow. After that my son said that felt so good helping others declining any money they offered but just glad to help them. Yes, very profound! It is the concept of the Mandala reality in the Veda and Buddhist cosmology Alan refers to in that sentence. It has nothing to do with the delusion of ego but rather the non-dual vision of consciousness described by Allan in this video. The idea of life and death rests on false assumptions. Enlightenment is the realization of the eternal space of consciousness beyond of all dualities and concepts. It is the true reality from which we have never strayed. Nothing is ever gained or lost. Enlightenment can never be gained because it has always been what we are. There is no path. Nothing to achieve. You are it!
@MGTOW Gamer Beautiful put! In actual fact, we can see it like nothing is going anywhere. We are the space, the stars and the sun at all times. When we stop seeing our selfs as being separate from the environment and the universe concepts like “life & death” stops being a relevant reference all together. This insight must be completely integrated, not just a philosophical speculation on the level of thought, for us to naturally come to be the all pervasive space-consciousness we inherently are from time without beginning. On a relative level there is a path of transcendence to be practiced and perfected but at the same time, on the absolute level, we are endowed with all the perfect qualities and non-dual wisdom that is already perfectly present in our being. In that sense, we have never strayed one inch from our true source. The only reason we don’t experience this perfect state is our temporary lack of insight into our own true nature. This is a process that every conscious being need to go through. It is part of a cosmic play in order for awareness to pervade the whole expanse. Words can never convey the true meaning of what we are but let say our inherent wisdom-awareness needs to become self-aware of its own true nature. Beings are constantly perfecting this transition here in our world as well as in innumerable other worlds right now. All living beings have the same enlightened potential. As long as we have not yet transcended our ignorance we are constantly experiencing sufferings and unpleasant feelings, life after life, until we come to fully encompass our true nature. At that point there is no more suffering to be experienced and we have become the all-knowing space-awareness that we have always been.

@Mind Blown A one-sentence comment isn't exactly full of depth. Anyway, usually, we perceive the world in a dualistic fashion: "me" and "everything else". We have a clear mental cutoff point between those two. However, we eyeball the borderline between those two. When we start looking closer and close it starts to dissolve and we lose the "feeling" of separation and the feeling of a separate self. That is enlightenment as the dualistic perception creates all suffering and clinging
Become so much engaged in the observation that there remains no "I" . Observer becomes the observation meaning when you completely lost in the observation of something and there remains no judgement about it , no good or bad or if & but . When we see a flower and say how beautiful this flower is , it means you recognise something as ugly . Here you are not becoming one with the view of flower . When things seems as it is then real magic begins .

I strayed away from alan watts which helped me with peace and became an alcoholic and burned many family bridges. now im on a road to recovery just hearing Alan's voice made me cry and memories of inner peace.

I remember looking out at the stars 60 years ago and realizing this...my whole life has been incredible yet I see such sad people all around that won’t open their eyes and look at those same stars
I look at those stars yet my sadness is because there is no one to look with me ....strangely being lonely is my only comfort....open eyes can make you a loner
I have deep sadness that those night skies of 60 yrs ago are unavailable to my eyes. I’m in the same home I grew up in raising my own children and only 15 yrs ago I could see more in the night sky than now. It feels unnatural and like a earthling right denied to our existence to not have the experience that is an unpolluted starry night

That's crazy brother, cause I've been looking for these same answers just this last month n just now this is showing up on the random. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend the movie "Beyond The Light" by Dr. Raymond Moody (the very man who discovered and coined the term NDE), and the "Life To Afterlife" series of documentaries with Craig McMahon. They make so much sense and changed my beliefs, but in an enlightening and comforting way, because it made me turn away from the thought that there's nothing after all this suffering 🤷🏽♂

I never understand why my husband was listening to Alan Watts so religiously in the summer 2020...then he passed away in 2021. He was coming to terms with his own death, and I believe it helped him pass soundly and truly accepted it.

@@innerpeace42232 Nice words David, I hope the OP saw them. You hang in there too, it does get better with time, in early 2018 I lost my partner of 12yrs and my mum within 2 months, it floored me. By the end of 2019 I was on the way back, you get used to being alone, you heal. This current mess has knocked me back, but I hold on to the fact that I recovered once, and will again. Hang in there and try to find positives to focus on, no matter how small, you'll get there. Be strong.

The wisdom and insight that comes from within Alan Watts, is the complete opposite of what religion is trying to do. Religion restricts, constricts oneself. Religion causes one's self to hold back one's true potential. Like keeping a bird in a cage. Listening to Alan Watts is like I'm flying in my dreams. I'm light as a feather, and with just a thought, I can take off to wherever I want to go. Why would not someone not want to fly like an Eagle?

Mike, what will you tell me if I tell you, i got the covid-19 and was so sick for 5 days i was almost gone, and then i found myself floating deep in my subconscious so deep, i experienced the biggest peace in my heart and mind, in there i cried to God to take me with him, because everything was so peaceful i didn't want to come back to me conscious mind. God answer i needed to come back because there were a lot of things to finish. Since then i am not the same. I can feel the energy of others, i can think fast about some things, and so more. I don't know what happened to me, i wish someone could tell me. I just know, i am not the same.

Once we allow ourselves to get past the distractions of the spotlight outside focus, we are freed to see the floodlight, showing the infinitely eternal consciousness we all are. It is then we enter the silence, stillness of void. It is here we see our true self of being of love, happiness, wholeness... this has always been there, only not seen. we now know time, space, death, our visible physical world are only illusions, like a mirror we look into with borders (a frame) selectively only showing a small small limited reflection of the allness, wholeness we are.
What a brilliant man. Dr. Alan watts. I get goosebumps when I hear his lectures. They move me. So profound in thought.

Cosmic consciousness is lovely. It brings peace, joy, self-acceptance; acceptance of everything going on around and within you. Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, Michael Singer, Tara Brach, and last but not least, Mooji have given me this gift. But I have to attend to it. I meditate every a.m. without fail and pray for peace, within and without. My days are quite blissful since I began listening to these precious teachers, praying and meditating regularly.

I will never forget my first four wheel drive vehicle that during Christmas my son and i with shovels spend a night helping people stuck in the snow. After that my son said that felt so good helping others declining any money they offered but just glad to help them. I told him never forget this lesson of helping others as it will reward you in the end.

Yes, very profound! It is the concept of the Mandala reality in the Veda and Buddhist cosmology Alan refers to in that sentence. It has nothing to do with the delusion of ego but rather the non-dual vision of consciousness described by Allan in this video. The idea of life and death rests on false assumptions. Enlightenment is the realization of the eternal space of consciousness beyond of all dualities and concepts. It is the true reality from which we have never strayed. Nothing is ever gained or lost. Enlightenment can never be gained because it has always been what we are. There is no path. Nothing to achieve. You are it!

@MGTOW Gamer Beautiful put! In actual fact, we can see it like nothing is going anywhere. We are the space, the stars and the sun at all times. When we stop seeing our selfs as being separate from the environment and the universe concepts like “life & death” stops being a relevant reference all together. This insight must be completely integrated, not just a philosophical speculation on the level of thought, for us to naturally come to be the all pervasive space-consciousness we inherently are from time without beginning. On a relative level there is a path of transcendence to be practiced and perfected but at the same time, on the absolute level, we are endowed with all the perfect qualities and non-dual wisdom that is already perfectly present in our being. In that sense, we have never strayed one inch from our true source. The only reason we don’t experience this perfect state is our temporary lack of insight into our own true nature. This is a process that every conscious being need to go through. It is part of a cosmic play in order for awareness to pervade the whole expanse. Words can never convey the true meaning of what we are but let say our inherent wisdom-awareness needs to become self-aware of its own true nature. Beings are constantly perfecting this transition here in our world as well as in innumerable other worlds right now. All living beings have the same enlightened potential. As long as we have not yet transcended our ignorance we are constantly experiencing sufferings and unpleasant feelings, life after life, until we come to fully encompass our true nature. At that point there is no more suffering to be experienced and we have become the all-knowing space-awareness that we have always been.

@Mind Blown A one-sentence comment isn't exactly full of depth. Anyway, usually, we perceive the world in a dualistic fashion: "me" and "everything else". We have a clear mental cutoff point between those two. However, we eyeball the borderline between those two. When we start looking closer and close it starts to dissolve and we lose the "feeling" of separation and the feeling of a separate self. That is enlightenment as the dualistic perception creates all suffering and clinging

Literally was looking for a video on the Secret and feeling lonely as I sit across my 2nd husband who takes no accountablilty for absence thinking he was my soul mate realizing how alone i made my ex feel and instead I come across this video. Since my childhood i learn dancing from Mtv and in my adulthood i said a few months earlier “ok i will be dancer like ballet mixing with modern dance” and i’m 35 and i live in eastern country. Now i realized i’m a dancer. Dancing with whole universe, the biggest dancer ever in entire history of universe and this is f.cking amazing :)

I have deep sadness that those night skies of 60 yrs ago are unavailable to my eyes. I’m in the same home I grew up in raising my own children and only 15 yrs ago I could see more in the night sky than now. It feels unnatural and like a earthling right denied to our existence to not have the experience that is an unpolluted starry night
