Bummer about the plastic pieces but if If they were to make the whole thing out of stainless it would end up being $200+ easily due to material and manufacturing costs. Good review! Thanks
Odd issue you have with the brake…I had the all plastic one for about 5 years no the brake worked fine…getting this one because my all plastic one just broke and I’m trying to cut down on plastic…Agree with you; would be nice to have a metal basket.
My brake doesn't work either. I usually like OXO products but for the price, this seems poorly made. I haven't used mine yet, just took it out of the box to try it out. Think mine is going back.
Came here because I just bought this and was wondering if the brake is faulty. Looks like it's a design flaw. However, I found if you keep the pump compressed while braking it functions better.
I have this thing and the brake sucks! Deal breaker for me. I came to watch the reviews to see if the brake was as bad on others. Thanks for the review. Planning to return it and see if the plastic one is just as bad.
I just bought this thing - not convinced - my plastic one broke and wanted to go fancy however my lettuce is coming out of this spinner not as dry not crispy as I will usually get them from my previous cheap plastic spinner.
Internally it shouldn’t be different from the plastic one. Same spin speed etc. are you maybe being more careful with it and not spinning as vigorously? If the drying performance is worse that would be quite bad given the price
I just watched another review where actual produce (lettuce) was being dried and the brake stopped the spinner completely. Perhaps it needs to be loaded to work.
Eh the brake just isn’t super effective in my experience. It’s not a big deal at all as it slows down anyway. Just pointing out the features before people spend their money!
It's a shame that the bowl doesn't come with a sealable lid. I seldom eat all of my salad in one sitting, so having a lid to store left over salad in the fridge would be awesome!

Does OXO sell replacement parts for this, such as the lid or the colander?
Someone needs to do a disassembly video on this exact mode cause I need to clean the lid
thank you for the detail review ^>^
i wish some one make all stainless steel spinner
That's the best salad spinner I love the fact is stainless steel...😊

I'm thinking it would be hard to spin fast due to the weight too.

Good tip. I’ve just assumed it’s a weak brake

It lasts for 20 years. I kept mine for 18 years now and still works
What kind of PLASTIC is used in spinning Bowl??

Yea, but it's quite large so would take up a lot of fridge space
@@HelpAtMyHome Yeah, all big bowls take up a lot of space. But sometime a big bowl is what you need :-)
You don't need to push the 2 buttons you just pull apart
Try washing it after use, will you?
Yes please do but keep in mind the top is not dishwasher safe!
hey....jack....how about u wash some lettuce and test the damn thing out on camera???
Sure thing
