Hi Sandra. (LOVING the blog btw). I have a question. How much basic networking are you doing in your current role, well, your past role as well. I am at the end of my first 2 years of study (AAS) that I will use with my current BA. I am going to choose a Cyber BS in a bit but I want to spend time getting more hands on skills in things I need to work on. Getting my AAS has revealed areas I need to work on. I want to start focusing on the practical, everyday real world skills-that U guys use everyday-for future employment as I work over the years to Ethical Hacking. I hate to keep asking questions-but you’re such a great resource. ;). So, any input you can give in your leisure is appreciated.
If you're in college a great way to build up some experience is to try to get an IT technician/Help Desk support job. It will show future employers your ability to communicate and you have some knowledge of hardware. I know this is a no experience video, but it is certainly something to consider :eyes:
Yess i agree :)! A lot of my coworkers in cyber actually started out in help desk bc it also helps you gain troubleshooting skills, working w clients, etc
Definitely great tips Thanks you very much Also, thanks for the mindset about getting rejected and receiving the "No's" until we can land a job, that's a pretty tough part.
So helpful, Great video! I'm currently in a career shift from the arts and I just started my M.S in IT concentrating on cybersecurity. Thank you for all the information. This is definitely a sub for me, keep up with the good work.
Lots of people Ik recommened Macbooks but they are $$$ lol.. So for students a good reliable lenovo thinkpad is what I used refurbished but idk if the laptop brand matters as much for student use purposes but I'd make sure to get at least 16gb ram, preferably i5/i7, and SSD, if you download any VM software, you'llneed the space for disk partitioning and memory allocation, good luck Naphi!! :)
Thank you so much for this video. I’m currently in my last semester. I will be graduating with my bachelors of cyber security and information technology. I have 8 years of IT experience but very limited on cyber security. Thanks for the advise. I’m getting my resume professional redone and hoping to either move up in my company or move out to another company. Do you know what entry level jobs I should be looking at?
Hey Sandra, how many jobs did you apply for before getting your first cybersecurity position? Thank you so much for your videos btw!! They are very helpful!
What i’ve heardis recruiters only look at your resume for about 5 seconds and decide to move forward or not so you really need to catch their attention quickly lol, which is pretty sad but yeah, when looking for internships I’ve applied to probs 100+ and got 2 offers so it really depends 😅
Hey, Sandra am loving your content so much, you basically give us the necessary materials to get into this great field. How could I get to connect with you on Linkedin

I'd really appreciate your linkedin. I am in a school program for cyber security specialist and I am hoping to network with others. Thanks in advance.
I like how fast you talk. As a content creator and someone with ADHD I love how you get straight to the point

@@WithSandra I meant that with sarcasm lol. I've probably sent out over 1000's of resumes since I graduated college and switching into CS recently.
