I think the Death Angels just want A Quiet Place to exist but their hearing is so sensitive that any noise effects them. Which is why I petition the writers for A Quiet Place: Cicadas edition where we see the aliens just going crazy on trees and nature in an attempt to silence those bugs.

@@toastedgoodness2435 so? thousands of movies have done that so why aren't you complaining? Even then they are aliens made by fiction. You expect aliens to come to earth and obey all physics we know? They are aliens that arrived on a meter, it makes sense why they survived the bombings. Creatures capable of surviving the vacuum of space and entering earths orbit at thousands of miles per hour are gonna be pretty freaking strong and durable. Even then they are fiction, so the person who created them made them immune to normal physics. Get real this is in every movie ever. the predator franchise? That ignores physics, so does AvP (alien vs predator). So just stop hating on a movie for having it's own logic.

You could kill them by just using antimatter because when antimatter interacts with normal matter(our matter) it generates a large burst of gamma radiation in a expanding bubble and atomising all matter in that that bubble and turning it into pure energy. So basically they would die due to just getting atomised. But the only problem is antimatter is not widely producible (understatement) and you cannot really keep it stable enough to use it as a weapon and it cannot be produced en mass.

First, no species bigger than microscopic are fire proof, completely resistant to the cold of space, let alone the vacuum as well.
Second, even with armor plating they wouldn't be impervious to all gunfire. I've seen an AR15 fire a tungsten core armor piercing round through ar500 steel. So, a 50 caliber BMG is useless but they're susceptible to a shotgun blast. Right.
Third, I'm pretty sure someone somewhere would have figured out they're sensitive to harsh sound/a feedback loop way before 99% of the population bought it. I saw a video where people banded together to find a flag in an anonymous field in BFE, so I'm sure this would have been discovered.
So, yeah, it really is supremely stupid. Great video series though!

Yeah. No. The low pressure of space and earth compared to the environment of their home would kill them. If you think not "because their armor" look up why blobfish look so... blobby. It's because they live in high pressure (at the bottom of the ocean) like the death angels and the low pressure of the surface kills them. So the "Death angels" would be little more than liquidy gelatinous flesh material. Don't even get me started on how the meteor impact would kill them.
Edit: Imagine going from your comfy 15 psi atmospheric pressure to a vacuum chamber. Where the pressure is so low your bodily heat would cause all the water in your body to *b o i l* TO BOIL AT ROOM TEMPERATURE. Then embolisms would form. Your skin would turn beet red and if you held your breath... your lungs would explode. But don't worry you would be conscious through the entire process. Until of course air bubbles would form in your brain and kill you.
    Decompression is a b*tch.

Zoologist here and there’s a number of prominent points I want to mention:
The first and most bothersome (to me) is if they can withstand the vacuum of space, the forces of re-entry and evolved under higher than earth’s gravity, the likelihood of the angels “drowning” in water is very very low; they may not be able to swim or float, but they’d likely be able to traverse along the sea floor just fine.
Secondly, as some others have stated, the angels could likely hear your heartbeat and breathing from significant distances, so they could be confused/overwhelmed with local sounds such as with a waterfall, but people could not hide by standing still and holding their breath.
On the plus side, since the angels aren’t consuming the people they kill, that means they aren’t actively hunting humans to extinction so much as creating safe territories for themselves to hunker down in until the drive to take in energy or reproduce overcomes their drive for survival. This is assuming they aren’t aggravated by attacks etc by outside forces discouraging them from settling.
We don’t know what resources they need to consume or what conditions they need for reproduction, so there is definitely a chance that either or both aren’t met on earth so ultimately humans could survive just by waiting them out, but it’s not an ideal strategy until more info is obtained and could end up ultimately being a waste of time if the angels find something they can consume here.
Ultimately I believe that people close to the impact zones would perish from the impacts themselves, people in and around the territories the angels mark out would be wiped out, but militaries would quickly find/develop our sound technologies and then begin systematically wiping the angels out worldwide. There would be lots of death before things settle, but I don’t believe humanity would truly be at risk of extinction in this scenario.
Also, a lack of food/energy would eventually drive the angels out of their established territories, which will be messy, but by that time people should already be actively hunting the angels to extinction themselves.

I find it funny that people don’t comprehend that science is only a theory, and it is derived from observations and logical inference.
It is not a rule or a law. It is just our approximation.
It does not account for alien worlds or materials much. Hell, it does not even account for everything that happens on our own planet.
So, having a FICTIONAL movie contain some new elements is not unheard of.
Every fiction comes with two things: Assertion and inference. We ASSUME that the creative element is true, and then logically infer what it would mean if it were true. That is how ANY fiction works. ANY Sci-fi, fiction, supernatural horror movies etc. All of it is based on a setting taken for granted and a work-around of that concept.
Yes, the movie is inconsistent as hell. But that is not because of the physics of their armour, but more so because of the inconsistency in their behavior/sensory systems.
Who knows? Maybe the die from attacks to their “head/head” not because of the weakness of that material/inability to that material to withstand shock, but because their brain is located around there and it gets exposed.
Maybe they also don’t communicate through hearing with each other, but only PERCEIVE through hearing and communicate with some outerwordly frequency waves (string theory) with each other?
Hence, their brain getting exposed in order to communicate (when they appear to “scan” and vibrate) might be to open up enough of armour to pass through that signal. Since it is not illogical to assume that their omega-durable exoskeleton is probably so dense to the point it inhibits any and all communications.
So, it may be the case that their insides are just as durable/shock resistant as their outsides, and no amount of shock can really damage them.
But because they expose their brain/neural center to communicate with each other over distances, it becoming unprotected and being a weak point is not all that unbelievable.
As per why they open it up when they are attacked by sound? Maybe the are in such pain that they want to scream, and their only way of “talking” is through those vibrating signal transmissions…. And in order to do so, they have to expose the center of those neural signals.
      Boom, alien physiology inquiries fixed.
Yes, it does not explain everything. It does not explain their inability to sense things around them with their Uber-hearing.
But hey, now THAT is plot convenience.
Similar plot convenience like in any other horror movie so that humans can survive… Simply because that is how Western media depicts horror movies.
They COULD have gone for Asian horror trope, where survival is completely void and utterly impossible/unrealistic under these circumstances, but many people would then complain of how “boring” it is knowing from the very beginning the outcome of that horror movie.
Aka western critical thinking, where we would rather have the characters we cheer on survive despite all the odds, instead of accepting their inability to do so.

@@kingol4801 Cool reply to a joke, tbh, didn't read it just glanced over it. All I got was you trying to describe a plot convenience. Which I'm hoping everyone is aware of what it is.
But yes I'm aware that in order to have a movie, the movie must have conveniences to move forward. Though sometimes movies make it dumb. Pretty sure a movie would say an average guy with only a thin napkin can take on a rocket launcher 6ft bulking murderous guy with ease. Sounds funny and cool, but when you think about it, how? So a zombie escape a crash when all it basically did was shake and tip over (because with the door facing away from the crash and in the bed of the truck... Edit: I'm referring to the army of the dead but still A Quiet Place has lots of conveniences) seems kinda silly. So anyone jokes are jokes, they're meant for laughs not to draw attention to something or be taken seriously.

@@nickthorn6522 First, let's get this part out of the way. You're basing their abilities on a a specific version of an adaptation from Earth. They're not from Earth, and they clearly don't follow the same biological rules we do. They're walking EMPs that tune into individual sounds like a radio and swivel satellite dishes on their heads. You don't know what loud noises do to them.
Next thing, they can close their armor and stop listening. See, a problem with a lot of the critiques of these creatures seems to be that most people don't pay much attention to the movie. The hearing aid didn't hurt them because it was loud. Again, it's the frequency. Not because that frequency was loud, but because it interrupted their ability to close their armor. Why? I don't know. It seems to be an involuntary response to that frequency, not a general response to noise.
A hint to this is that the hearing aid has incredible feedback when they're nearby, so much so that a deaf person can hear it. They're obviously producing and reacting to some kind of signal, and it's implied that the hearing aid is bouncing that signal back in some fashion that they can't ignore or tune out. If it was just loud, they would close their heads, attack it, or move away.
Point I'm making her is that they're not hearing like you and I. They're hearing like an alien species, and they're reacting to sounds like an alien species. We can only judge them based on what we observe them doing, not how we think life should behave. Especially because they're supernatural horror movie monsters, not an astrobiology model.

    • @muntu1221
      @muntu1221 3 роки тому +8

@@am-ranth8955 No, I don't realize that. Because that's a fake critique. You can say that about literally anything. And I mean it.
First off, what's the inconsistency? That they don't follow the standard laws of physics or that they're supernatural? Because if I went into every ghost movie with a research team and complained that ghosts don't follow the laws of thermodynamics, you'd call me a dumb ass, and rightfully so.
Second, the most basic of "logic" is easily dismissed just by watching the movie. It's bad faith nitpicking of the Cinema Sins generation of media critique.
"If the Predator sees in infrared, why is he bipedal?"
"If the Cloverfield monster is so large, why doesn't it suffocate?"
"If the Enterprise is so fast, why doesn't it get ripped apart by its own speed?"
It's those kind of stupid nitpicks, the kind that are interesting thought experiments for you to have fun figuring out with headcanons, but are useless if you INVENT an inconsistency in your own head and apply it as a critique. It's the kind of critique someone who doesn't write and has hindsight bias makes up and thinks "just look at the camera and explain it to me" is a good suggestion.
And no, that's not the only reason supernatural plots work. I don't know who told you that, but you need to slap them. That's just incorrectly applying Brandon Sandersons rules of magic to a genre he doesn't write (horror). You don't need to lay out the rules from the get-go. You don't even actually need to be consistent. You can establish rules and violate them whenever you please, so long as that violation is in the service of the plot and/or the audience experience. Yes, you should strive for consistency, but we have all forgiven violations in the rules of stories because that break from consistency was worth it in terms of drama or spectacle.
Anyway, here's what I want to know. When were the death angels stuck under biological and physical laws? I really want to know when, because there WAS exposition that heavily suggested that wasn't the case. Ignoring the big ass meteor they fell from, there's a huge wall with information about them in the first movie that says they don't eat. That is heavy emphasis that they're supernatural. Just because they're from space doesn't mean they're implied to be scientifically plausible.

Personally I think their hearing is actually selective, which kinda makes sense. When they enter enclosed areas, they tend to switch to echolocation, which allows them to detect people in front of them, but this makes it so they can’t hear smaller noises such as a heartbeat.

I'm convinced these creatures are bioweapons from aliens yet to reveal themselves.
    1) The creatures don't eat humans, they simply attack anything that makes sound.
    2) The creatures have ears to orient themselves and to hunt; this needs air or water to transmit sound. That rules out them being something that naturally lives in the void of space.
    3) From the second movie, we learn they can't swim in deep water. Their incredible speed on land seems to indicate they are primarily a land-based animal that can move through swallow water - and even hide in it. But they appear to breath oxygen and drown if in water they can't stand in.
    4) We know nothing about the creature's reproductive habits, what it eats, nor how it arrived. We assume they came in on asteroids, as shown in the second movie. There was at least one other impact near Shanghai. But it was referred to as a "bomb." I think the asteroid, or impactor, was merely a delivery system for the creatures. Regarding the 'planetary chunk theory' there is no evidence the creatures planet was destroyed. That just isn't a thing from the movie.
For these reasons I think the creatures are a bioweapon deployed on Earth by an alien presence we don't know about yet.
I imagine the creatures have a 'shelf life' and will start dying off after a period of time. This would allow the creatures to execute a massive blitzkrieg that wipes out the dominant sentient species that might be capable of resisting the aliens who deployed it. It also hides the true attacker from any counterattack or capabilities the aliens may have missed when observing humans on Earth. But, the creatures would die off and those that deployed it could begin colonizing Earth with very few humans left alive.
Yes, the Navy would survive for a time. But ships have limited supplies, people get sick, things need maintenance. Eventually, attrition would disable any organized resistance. Land forces could not be mobilized quick enough to mass men and materiel. Tanks aren't omnipotent; they need fuel, parts, maintenance. But again, you could not mass men in one place for very long before they're overwhelmed and killed.
I'm curious what the guys in NORAD and other deeply buried command and control points are up to. Do drones still fly? Are most satellites still functioning? What's happening to the nuclear powerplants? etc.
That's my take, hopefully we'll learn more in a third film.
