    Always happy to see Argo. Lucky dog.
    Winter's not done with Rogers City, either. Four inches snow, windy, temps dropping. This is more like it. Wasn't ready for it to end yet...

      We ended up getting some snow here from this most recent system. I'd say about 5" in total so far, if you don't count the drifting. I am hoping for more, my snow shoes need some use! :)

      I still don't know if the pictures show just how far down there that vehicle was. They really were lucky it didn't happen in the summer!

      We did get some snow yesterday but yes, spring is certainly feeling like it's getting closer every day. It is a blessing and a curse because at least this time of year, there aren't any bugs! :)

    Jeez, that guy's lucky that accident wasn't way worse. We got an inch or so of snow where i live today. Only 3rd time this year, I've used my snow shovel and have only had the snow blower out once in the last 3. Not a good situation here in farm country. On a happier note, Argo sure was excited to get out of the house and check out his turf.😄

      Argo is always excited to get out and inspect the message boards, as I like to call them.. :). Every time I walk past the valley camp and wonder how many storms she weathered while sailing these lakes. I guess she had another impact in her.. sturdy girl! Sturdy girl

    Anyone who lived in the Soo years ago, (like me,) would be shocked at how little snow there is in the middle of February. My 1960 Buick Electra completely disappeared under the snow in the driveway in midwinter in 1969. One of the old buildings on campus also was covered with so much snow that the maintenance people were wearing snowshoes to get on top of the snowbank with poles, trying to find the building outline so they could dig to the door. My uncle used the snowblower to clear the snow off of the roof of the garage so it wouldn't collapse. And I remember 10 straight days where the temperature didn't rise to zero F. EVERY winter was like that. This wildly erratic, different, unexpected weather for the Soo is very worrisome.

      I'm an old guy, too. 😅 Growing up on the North shore of Lake Erie, we always had snow from November right through to March. After the big 3 day blizzard in January 1977, it drifted up to the eavestrough on one side of our brick bungalow house. And I snowshoed up to the top of a young Maple tree in our front yard. Probably 15 ft or so. They haven't seen anything like that weather in years.

      Valley Camp almost looks dry docked! Where’s the water??
      Happy Argo!

      A few of the guys in the radio group I belong to, who have lived here their whole lives, do mention how it seems winters have gotten a bit easier. Winters like this though, by their memory, while rare aren't unheard of. One year(I can't remember which year) they didn't get any snow after mid February and they had gardens planted by April.

    Yeah... it's Argo! He definitely looks like he loves his walks with you Cody! Oh my, I hope the driver is okay and I'm glad the Valley Camp wasn't damaged. It really has been a warm February so far even here in east central Illinois. Have a great day Cody and give Argo a biscuit for me!

      Argo does not waiver on his requirement of three daily walks. He might be spoiled.. or maybe he is just treated well.. who knows. :)
      I've not heard any updates on the driver, just that they were taken to the hospital of course. Certainly hoping all is well, that is for sure!
      Consider Argo biscuit'd, we just went downstairs and he somehow knew he had one coming.. :)

    Hi Cody. I didn't know you had a channel! I'm used to seeing you on the Soo Locks channel on chat. I enjoyed this tour with you and Argo!

      Welcome aboard! :) I don't really promote my channel in the chat, not sure how much of a conflict of interest it is :)

    That accident could have been bad ! The "containers" are flexi floats, basically a barge kit. I think there are 3 there that they took apart. There is one at the Mac entrance.

    • @codyandargo906
      @codyandargo906  6 місяців тому +1

      Oh yes, I forgot about the flexi floats. I remember they were using a lot of them for the construction, makes sense they would stack them up there.

      The USACE flexi-float that is wedged into the lower Mac approach is actually being used as a bridge between the two sides of the Mac approach. You can see it on the Lower Approach 2 camera when the USACE soowebcams are working.

    At the time you could see the truck accident on the STL cam.

    • @codyandargo906
      @codyandargo906  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, when I heard the call on the radio I went directly to the STL cam and watched it. The camera was on automatic mode and as luck would have it, caught the crash.
