Justin has changed his style from head hunting brawler with no head movement, to a brawler with head movement and patience. If Chandler does the same he can beat ‘em all.

    • @johncutie5769

If Chandler can mix in the takedowns and threat of TD like he did against Hooker, hes gonna be way harder to beat against these lightweights. I wanna see more Chandler ground and pound, just squashing his opponents hips like Volk does.

Well who’s the color commentator at that point? The color commentator is the most important because you have to have comedic relief usually. Joe and anik are just organically funny by not funny enough. That’s why you can’t replace DC because he’s the best at the color commentator role.

I was rooting for Poirier, but I stood in awe for minutes after that finish it was unbelievable. Strong Wonderboy/Edwards vibes with that hidden kick behind a cross. No one could see this coming.
And mega props to Chandler man, I absolutely love when a fighter believes in himself enough to give other fighters some respect.

Hey Mike! Gaethje threw 2 high kicks in the first round! Dustin was doing the same, trying to take out Gaethje with a kick. A lot of times Gaethje leans down when he is avoid punches and dustin threw at least 2 kicks to try to catch gaethje on those moments. I guess they understood each others intentions and that's maybe why justin insisted on the high kick.

Also, I don't think anyone counts leg kicks as significant strikes. If that counts, there is no way Dustin won the first. Dustin is a stud. Justin is on a mission.

It pretty much never crossed my mind that Justin Gaethje would finish Dustin Poirier by a head kick, but it feels pretty good to get surprised, Gaethje indeed improved leaps and bounds since the first fight with Poirier, and as for Poirier, he's definitely still elite even though he got caught and KOed. Pretty sure there's a good chance they'll meet again for a third fight.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about how Justin likely had to learn the 'Same hand in to same side kick' combo to help Usman prepare in sparing, for Usman v Edwards 3 🤷‍♀

I liked that Justin was immediately standing up after the one shot on Poirier, the shot he did drop was exclusively in the moment. You could see that he was standing up rather than going downwards with his knees.

as a big fan of the old K1 days of Peter Aerts, Remy Bonkasky, Jerome LeBanner etc, I'm not surprised. the rear high kick is overwhelmingly powerful if done right, surprised more people don't throw it

Ya know Mike...As crazy as it sounds to hear you say Justin will be a lightweight camp while Islam is still a fighter I actually think you're right. I think if his takedown defense holds up then he can definitely get it done. He has the stand up and the chin to take the belt.
