I’m very grateful for your work and ministry. As someone who was made to feel like I would be compromising the gospel if I was anything but reformed your videos have been refreshing and very educational. May God continue to bless you as you work in as his servant.
1 Corinthians 2:10 "These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God." Let God’s Peace and Grace be with you (To The Reader). Praise God always,.. Amen 🕆🙏🙌
Trinity doctrine was invented in the late second century. Modern Trinity doctrine is very different than the original form. Jesus is a part of the Father and the Spirit is the spirit of Jesus Christ and the Father. "I and my Father are ONE." "If you have seen me, you have seen the Father."
I appreciate the "watching and/or listening". I fall into the "and" category. I watch when they come out on UA-cam and then listen (at 1.25 speed) when they hit the podcast RSS feed.
Every philosophy and religion has elements from others, even Christianity. If Jesus is okay with being with sinners, he's okay with someone holding slight variations
What is the difference between Augustinian idea(s) like: "having being is participating _in Being_ ..", Sin as privation of The Good (aka "non-Being"), etc. ... And a more Gnostic theory of emanation? Even in Christian neoplatonism, there seems to be an idea of "sliding scale" ontology. I guess I haven't figured out where the line should be drawn.
In light of the most cutting edge academics there is a responsibility to closely view the origination of ideas which were not found in Judaism pre first century that Yeshua's faith brought forth. First Yeshua's faith was very very diverse from literalism to symbolism to anti Jewish roots to pro Jewish roots to a mix. But...what Christianity , Islam and Judaism all have in common is Persian influence. An afterlife, a saviour figure, a coming apocalypse, the spirit world, heaven/hell, satan etc etc etc. All these owe to Persian roots and no mystery as who do you think the priest was who blessed Abraham prior to there being an Abrahamic faith. Zoroastrianism and by extension Manicheanism have more to offer in our understanding of Christ than meets the eye. I always marvel at how Protestant and Restoration Christians doggedly define the Christian position according to Orthodox positions of whom they have actively resisted. Indeed perhaps the true answer to literalism, academics and sectarianism is to go back to the very very diverse early Christian beliefs...all freely thinking and discussing, all brothers and sisters with similarities and differences about even a fundamental thing such as the godhood and personhood of their central figure. What a world we live in where we define our own creeds based on the decisions our opposing authority gives us. all that saye aye aye are in our club all opposed are not. How about if Christ is your anchor you are in, and free to learn and grow among us. What a thought..whod a thunk it. And Christian and pre Christian scriptures? why are we only accepting the current composition, look around...is it working? Truth, Love, Balance and Freedom to think and discuss while still being in community...that is what is needed, or Christianity's crisis will continue to magnify under the onslaught of truth and academics.
I am aware that there is a so-called "Neo-Manichaeism" religious movement. But I heard that the Manichee religion had gone extinct. What resources can you recommend to learn about the modern day remnant of the original followers of Mani ?
brother please please please cover new age, new thought, and philosophy!! and maybe working in biblical theology to combat the christological heresies within those religiophilosophical influences on our culture and even starting invade the thoughts of uncareful believers
I'm confused. So what does God have if He doesn't have a physical body? Like the Bible describes people seeing God's back and other body parts throughout the Bible, so I really don't get it~
God is three spiritual (not physical) persons in one being. God the Son is the image of the unseen God (which would include the Father and I suppose the Holy Spirit as well). When ever someone saw God in the Bible they saw the Son unless it specifically says they saw the Father (like in Stephens vision at his martyrdom in Acts 7:56).
The heretics talking about God transcending the trinity in prayer make me think about some radical Protestants, but also Eastern Orthodox who emphasize the essence-energy distinction. Interesting group
This is the first I've ever heard of Manichees still surviving in China today. Would love to see some actual evidence of this. And please don't say "Google it."

In some areas, I thought you were being very fair in your analysis, like at around 32 minutes when you cautioned that one should not take what the heresiologists claimed about Manichaeans as undisputed fact because they clearly didn't have any reason to portray them in a fair light. However, once you started talking about the Audianists, your video was hard to get through in places. Not because the topics were particularly complex, but because of your occasional eagerness to dismiss other people's belief systems. I came here to learn about what Manicheans and other unorthodox groups believed, not to listen to a dogmatic take on why other people who believe differently are naive, and childish. At around 52 minutes, your take on the restorationist movements was also very dismissive. Overall, though, it wasn't one-sided enough to keep me from continuing on in the series.

You lack the wisdom to speak of this subject. You sure did read a thing or two, but the total lack of wisdom, humility and skepticism is worst than with most hobbyists.
Jordan Cooper: Macedonianism is the only heresy relating to the Holy Spirit Of course the Lutheran simps for Eastern Orthodoxy by not mentioning the Filioque debate

Quite the coincidence that this is posted just after I read about St. Augustine leaving Manichaeism in Confessions.

Interesting. I just listen to them on UA-cam while playing video games. To each their own! :)
Do you hold concerns about Augustine struggling with his manichaean past and even at times infusing it into his theology?

Could you possibly address the "Pauline vs Petrine" issue? I run into it all the time.

Amazing. I learned a lot. I consider myself a dualist. I like Mani literature.
13:16 i chuckled at his name being Mani. I was expecting to be like Manichea or something
I chuckled too, the name mani feels very modern somehow doesn't it?

Thanks for the teaching brother it is very helpfull
Dr Cooper, do you plan to do a video on "modern" heresies like kardecism and mormonism?
He has done a video on Mormonism
I do want to cover some modern heresies in this series, yes.
Thank you!

AGREED ! The lack of interest in gaining knowledge is astounding! (unless he Lies to inhibit his listeners from seeking their own information?)

What is that debate? I've heard references but it's hard to pin down?
In regard to anthropomorphism, I read a Wikipedia article that claimed that the Bible that God has a body.😏
Its unfortunate that I can see how these teachings could have fooled people
on the contrary , its fortunate because it is the divine within you that is aware.something is amiss.
This sounds like a proto-bahai faith.
