Especially if you have raised beds that might work. The porch is most awesome. I'd say your husband is a keeper. I love the video where he sang Happy Birthday to you.

How do you continue to stay so diligently disciplined, and persevere each season? This is one of my fears with my homesteading dreams. Maybe I'm not worthy because of my lack of discipline. Makes me feel I'll never be able to do it...your videos are a blessing!
Faith the size of a mustard seed, love the reminder. His presence is in all of creation ❤

Hey LissaRaelyn! Honestly, I don’t accomplish all the things I need to or want to every season, every day for that matter! I think every homesteaders to do list and dream list is humanly impossible to fully accomplish! Don’t get overwhelmed and don’t beat yourself up for what you don’t get done! Celebrate your successes and what you do achieve!
      Preaching to myself here too!
Wishing you the very best! God Bless!

Love love your porch! It is so great to have a man who can build anything and bring your vision to reality! Thanks for the chat on the cover crop, I needed to understand it more! Can’t wait to get mine in the ground next year. I will be planting in an existing garden that my parents used.

Hi Tricia! Actually the beds that we did the cover crops in last fall and winter have done the best this summer

Thanks for the video. I really need to do some cover cropping as we have new land that needs drastic soil improvement. But we’re so swamped with building it’ll be hard to find time. Love your porch too! Wow that will be nice for porch sittin.

Hey! I understand! There’s always so much to do. And sometimes you just have to move it to next season or next years list! Maybe you can do a summer cover crop instead, like sun hemp! God bless!

Sir Chester has grown so much!! Your porch really does look amazing! I think horizontal wood slats would look good if you don’t want to do lattice. I have seen them spaced so planter boxes can be hung and they look nice. Or you could have that handy fella of yours build a custom lattice out of wood with squares the same size as the goat panels on top instead of the standard diamond pattern. Whatever y’all decide, I know it will be beautiful!
I appreciate all the information on the cover crops. I had no idea some would work against pests but that makes total sense!! My arch nemesis is squash vine borers and if I could find one to stop those I would plant it immediately!!
I can’t wait to see the wedding decorations. It’s getting close to the big day!! 😃🥰

The horizontal wood slats is what we want to do in the future! Thank you for all your suggestions! Blessings!

Do you get a specific type of hay? I thought all hay had weed seeds in it and I was planning on using only straw in mine. Just wondering. Hugs and love from Texas!

Hey Linda. I have been using hay from a cattle farmer down the road. It’s old hay that has been sitting for over a year. It does have weed seeds in it but I’ve never really had a problem until this falls garden and it’s full of weeds from the hay! So I’ll be changing my mulch something else. 🤦‍♀️
