Not to take anything away from the rest of the band members, but Torry going ape-sh*t on the drums was part of the awesomeness that put them over the top.
Totally agree with you. I've always felt that Torry Castellano should be, and should have always been, talked about when discussing bada*s drummers. Even though she had to leave the band in 2009, and then the band called it quits in 2012, always have wondered whatever happened to her, and the other 3 ladies, too.
@@paulharding706 Very true, unfortunately. She did wear herself out, especially some parts of her own body, but she was still, without a doubt, a bada*s drummer, though. I know a lot of guitarists, and other performers within bands, too, wear themselves out, especially body wise as well, but drummers, in general, don't get enough credit, and have a much harder job than a lot of people realize. I give them all major credit, and props, too, because they all wear their bodies out, just to beat the h**l out of those drums, and to make the s**t being played sound that much better. 🙂👍🤘
@@mikevogler5455 Torry went to Stamford, then Harvard law school, and became a corporate lawyer. Brett was still making music for a while, I'm not sure if she still is. I'm not sure what happened to Maya and Allison. It would be cool if they did a reunion tour, but I'm not sure Torry would want to risk hurting her shoulder again.
She's definitely the one who stepped it up and made them more than a cute, Ramones novelty act. At a time when every other band was relying on sextuple rectifiers to be heavy, she went backwards in time to full Guitar God status. Fact is, I was just bitching whoever edited this video has no idea what people want to watch. "Guitar solo - let's cut away to a full crowd shot!"
These poor girls always get sent out early in the day in front of disinterested spectators at festivals and they always smash it every time. I saw them at Leeds about 15 years ago. I wish they'd made it bigger, I think they deserved more success than came their way.
When I found out they were all self taught I thought that was awesome. Then I found out the drummer Tori had to leave the band and have surgery bc the way she played was hurting her and I became sad.
Agreed. Torry’s promising career was so sadly cut short. Otherwise, The Donnas might still be around today and Torry truly would’ve been one of the best drummers in rock history. But they came to the painful truth: No Torry, No Donnas.
Yeah, unfortunately it was a catch 22. It was her crazed style that gave them the energy on stage; but it also broke her body because it's unsustainable in the long run. After her surgery and rehab she calmed her style down, but the concerts weren't the same...
I have to watch this video, at least once a day to make sure I am alive. Between Torry beating those skins like they owe her money, and Allison's riffs and rock and roll moves and expressions...THAT'S what RnR is made for.
I was an old Ramones fan when my wife bought me their debut album for my birthday. Loved em and played the CD a lot. Forgot about them and misplaced the album. Ran across it today. Put it in my truck. Next time I'm eating up the asphalt this is my go to sound.
I think she's cool too but recently I found out well besides the fact they haven't been together for a while but she doesn't even play drums anymore because she wasn't playing them right that's what they said she look like she was doing good to me I don't understand how you don't play the drums right and they said it messed her up
@@trudieristich795 gave herself shoulder/wrist tendonitis from holding them wrong. She retired from drums and went to stanford college, then Harvard Law - she's awesome.
Theybkilled that song and that crowd was weak as f. Lol. I remember we didva show with them in Feb. 97 when they first came to St. Pete. They were the tour support for The Groovie Ghoulies. Good times. The Donnasvare an awesome and very underrated band! Just listen to the energy in this song. Good stage presence too!!
There's not enough of Maya Ford in this video. She's spicier than an explosion in a Moroccan bazaar. I would have loved to be in the audience of one of their gigs
I watch this video on a regular basis. I so appreciate the raw power and synchronistic tightness to this band. A similar comparison would be the Ramones circa 1977.
Girls, you gotta come back. I mean ... look at this performance :) I believe .... I am absolutely sure that you still have it :) Too many fans wait the moment of your return :)
The whole band was incredible, especially live, but Torry Castellano's drumming was some of the best, and to see her perform live back then was incredible! I only got to see them live, twice, before she left the band in 2009, due to her wrist issues, and even though the band disbanded in 2012, I've always wondered what she ended up doing afterwards, as well as the other ladies, too.
Damn, did the Donnas know how to tear up the stage or what? That audience must have been dead or shoegazers or sumthin, cuz the only biologically appropriate response to a 200 mph rock storm like that is an instant riot in the mosh pit. Torry rulez!
Not to take anything away from the rest of the band members, but Torry going ape-sh*t on the drums was part of the awesomeness that put them over the top.
Big time. She's fun to watch.

Screwed up her rotator cuff, though.

This was truly the greatest female rock group of all time! I wish they were still playing.
Agree 100%. How they're not huge stars (except in our minds) is a mystery to me.
I wish more ppl were dancing instead of standing lifeless. This performance was CRUSHING. AH, no one pits like the 80s kids. I’m a 80s kid.
I'd say L7 is, but The Donnas are great.
Girlschool !!!
The runaways
Allison Robertson is a tremendous player! Extremely underated IMO. Love The Donna's!

Not in Australia they didnt
Yeah crowd looks dead…..
Yeah I saw them )I think was Lollapalooza, near Denver) in the middle of the day, hot as f*ck… But they killed it anyway🤘🤘🤘🤘
That is one intense drummer. I love it when I see someone takes their work seriously. I need to listen to more of The Donnas.
When I found out they were all self taught I thought that was awesome. Then I found out the drummer Tori had to leave the band and have surgery bc the way she played was hurting her and I became sad.
met Nia Lovelis...

This. Since I found this, I watch almost every day. Wish I had seen them live ...
@@joehaas6129 Yes sir! Unfortunately, never saw them live myself, but man, they brought the energy.
I miss them. Torry was always fun to watch. She never gave less than 110%.
And now she’s a lawyer who helps get wrongfully convicted people off death row.
The Donnas really were a great band, and great musicians. Not many 4 piece bands can play a heavy sound like this live. I love this song.
The drummer is a beast!
The saying goes: Torry Castellanos hits hard
That was SICK!!! Memo to rock bands: THAT'S HOW YOU ROCK AND ROLL!!! Donnas - you made your mark right here!
Torry is a beast on the drums..Also she is fucking hot...
It would have been IMPOSSIBLE for me to stand still if I was there live because this song is TOO GOOD!
I seriously miss this band
yup
Me too!
The drummer is a fucken weapon...
God damn I love watching Torry work!
I love watching Torry play drums.
I've always loved The Donnas since the first listening

2022 NEEDS the donnas!!! Good god these ladies rock!!! One of the best concerts I ever went to!!
Uncompromised riffs & pure adrenaline ...God, I miss The Donnas.
te amo torry castellano ❤ hermosa saludos desde argentina 🇦🇷🙋 aguante las donnas 💪

These ladies most definitely can rock with any of the guys out there
This is the hardest song I've ever heard them play. Love all the Donna's.
Check out: “Do You Want To Hit It”, “Zero”, “You,re Not The One”
This is a hell of a performance of this song. Just love the Donnas!
And Maya's hair and the big ear rings, she really looks great in this video!
Why could anyone not like this band?!
"your love is like a car crash, you're gone & I've got whip lash." love that line
This video is a truly gem!!!
The drummer is definitely giving it 100%!!! Smoking Hot!!!
She even looks like running on the same spot.

She's self taught and had to stop playing she held her sticks wrong and did some serious damage to her wrists :(
Dude all of them are smoking hot
Best female Rock Band in many years❤
One of the best/fun bands in the history of music.
You Girls Rock
I just started listening to this group I love these girls 😁
Tough crowd. Can't rock much better than that.
fuckin a

All these girls will be 40 next year. But, there is no age for beautiful diamonds from California :)
You seem to be forgetting the whole point. 4 self taught musicians/song writers.
As long as the liberal infection is treatable!
this is the corniest thing I've ever read on UA-cam, congrats. @Happies1881
I bought a CD of there’s way back when
Pretty cool , I think there was a song “take it off” , I wonder where they’re at now
Yeah, I wish Torry was still able to play, solid drummer and a blast to watch.
Damn she plays like that dude from the muppets, Animal! Love that energy!
My band partied with them once. Well, 3 of them, the bassist was sick. Cool girls.
Truly Spectacular 🤘🏽♥️🔥
I love you Donnas
what a great band
Fckin awesome! Tight band. Great musicianship. Feels great
They destroy the stage especially the wild drummer!
Now I know why Donna C. quit the band with shoulder problems. She's really pushing it with this sped up version. 0:23
These girls rock always loved em they never far from the stereo !!!
This is one song I wish I had written. So original. Along with "I didn't like you anyway". Allison is pure eye candy.
The drummer's killin' it!! That apostrophe, though. The Donna's what? I'm triggered! I'm triggered!!!
Some idiot thinking they are titled-written like the Go-Go's
This girls keep the world rocking!!!
Smokin Hot!
The Donnas always on top!!!
Brilliant Torry on drums , is Well Missed .....#
I thought the drummer was named Donna.
Girl power... Rock on...

They were/are great 🎸
There's not enough of Maya Ford in this video. She's spicier than an explosion in a Moroccan bazaar. I would have loved to be in the audience of one of their gigs
Most amazing thing ever. That Band and Nobody likes them. Where do you even find ticket holders like that?
I absolutely love these girls! They rock!!!!
kick ass rock n roll
that girl can drum
Yeah, but too bad she never learned proper way to hold drumsticks so she didn't mess up her shoulder.
It was sad she had to retire
A baterista arrasa!!!

Love the DONNAS
Great Music; Great Video.
She has a great voice. They remind me of THE WHO....for some reason.
Jeez Torrey is hype as fuck live. This is like 1.5X album speed.
Great music
All great musicians as well as beautiful people. also cool they sound better live than on record
How they get this much sound from just one guitarist is pretty incredible
I saw them in Lansing Michigan 2004. Jesus H Christ I wish they were still together!
1st time hearing the Donnas. Guitar 🎸 is slaying it Awesome performance from them all. Crowd sucks

Bem que o The Donnas poderia fazer uma parceria com a Taylor monsen séria um doeto encrivel.

couldn'ta said it better myself. perfect description of The Donnas.
That was great, these ladies kick ar.se!
They were effen awesome dang
Real Live Band Rockin' ... and Really Dead Crowd Sucking.
Love these girls 🥰 I prefer their early punk rock records, but I think they’re cool, & Sexy 🐈
that bass is one of the hottest things I've seen in my fucking life
wish i could have seen them live
Yeah me to wish they were still playing
This ROCKS!
Great band. Copped some bad luck, but jeez at their peak they were good. Airbourne before Airbourne were even born!
One of my favourite girl bands. Where they are?
Not getting to see them live is one of the biggest scars i carry.
GOOD GOOD REAL ROCK
