The Queen Mary has a very good history. Her wood is so beautiful especially in the staterooms and corridors.

Captain Treasure Jones, was not only a great Captain... but also a great ambassador of the Mary... performed all of his duties with dignity and class.
A true gentleman. RIP, Captain John Treasure Jones.

I've stayed on the Queen Mary in the the Queen Mary, King George, Eisenhower, and Queen Elizabeth suites. Each time I relax into the bathtub, I wonder which other people of note have relaxed in the same bathtub. I love everything about Joan, and hope she stayed in one of those suites. It is a beautiful ship, definitely worth a trip. Other folks of note are Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Mae West, Abbott & Costello, Bob Hope, Liberace, Loretta Young, David Niven, etc. If you want to time travel into a beautiful world of the 1930s, you should definitely visit. It may not be around forever.

Wish dear Joan might have narrated it in its entirety, but great to see! Thanks so much, Bryan for posting!

The Queen of movies was talking about the queen of the sea...what a beautiful ship the Queen Mary was. Why they can`t build ships like that any more? Of course with modern machines... I wish, I can make a time trip, to travel with this beauty and to meet Joan Crawford personally

What an excellent find and clear film print; how nice of Joan to include Christina in this which who to me was more of a jealous daughter than an appreciative one; yes, Joan had her faults but many attributes too!

This is very interesting! Thank you for sharing this! Joan narrates so beautifully. This is quite a find !
The Queen Mary still rests peacefully in Long Beach. I wish I’d gone on board her to see her! There was a drag queen bar down the street from me in the late 80s called The Queen Mary, lol. On Ventura Blvd snd Whitsett Ave in Studio City. Never made it in there either.. !! I believe it was the first of its kind!

Hi Becky. I remember that bar on Ventura Blvd. and also put off going in until, alas, it was no more. It looked like a hoot. Sometime in the late 70's or early 80's, I was working as an extra on some show that was filming on location at the Queen Mary and got to go on board. Don't remember what show it was but, had it not been for that job, I would most likely never have had that experience. Also, have a really nice memory attached concerning a duck in the ship's shop that I was crazy mad about. It is a tiny little pewter or silver image and cost about twelve dollars. I had no money and was terribly upset. Outside, on dock, I mentioned to another extra, with whom I had never worked, that I was going to drive back to Long Beach the next day from The Valley in the hope that it would still be there. She offered the money. I asked for her address so that I could bring the money to her or send it through the mail. She insisted that I just accept the money as a gift. Wow. That duck is at hand and looking at me right now.

This was beautiful! How old was Christina, here? Close to thirty? Didn’t look to upset to be hob nobbing in a fabulous yacht with her ‘awful’ mother, did she?

How neat that Joan Crawford was once a passenger on this ship. Now it’s mostly known for its paranormal activity, and is an attraction to ghost hunters all over the world. There are extensive accounts of ghost activity aboard her. Interesting stuff, if you are into that sort of thing (it just scares me!) I haven’t been inside, but I have taken cruises out of San Pedro, CA, where she currently is docked. Still quite a beautiful site. How cool to know that one of Hollywood’s leading ladies, traveled on her!!!

I have just re-read my book "The Mary, the Inevitable hip." written by Jack frost and Neil Potter: in 1961, six years before the Mary retired. The dust jacket price of this hardback book is 25/-. An excellent read.

Had to laugh @ 8:00. Was that Pepsi? If not, did someone grab it asap to get it off camera? LOL
