- CanDo Services is back! This time removing all of Republic's carts from Artesia. I don't get a chance to film rollouts or cart removals very often, so I thought this would be a good opportunity considering my attempt at Cypress in June 2015 was a failure. Completely opposite from a very successful video I posted 2 years ago from Lake Forest. So here we have a removal crew loading up rental box trucks full of old carts. Two crews were out here, but I only stuck with this one since they had a very quick & efficient flow. I believe the other crew may have been just using the "Cluster" method between trucks instead. You'll see all the different brands of carts Republic handed out here over the years, including: Toter, Roto, Otto, Cascade, Rehrig & Schaefer. Keep a lookout for an old, rare BFI paper recycling bin (hints: It doesn't have the BFI logo on it, and it was reissued as a trash can). I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing it, but I didn't know it was empty until I saw the crew picking up both sides of the street. At the 5:54 mark, the audio isn't off - it's hard to see but a stacked cart actually fell off another right before the green bin hits the box truck floor.

It's been over a year since the rollout, and I gotta say, I'm still sad about CR&R taking over the Republic Services contract in Artesia. There weren't really 30 gallon carts in Artesia, but there were so many unique 60's and 90's, it was just heartbreaking for me to watch them go to waste. Great video, I know this was uploaded a while ago, but I really enjoy your rollout videos.
Glad you enjoy my vids. I know, it sucks all those really cool carts were replaced, but I'm sure the city would have required newbies even if they renewed with Republic.

This was fun to watch! Always enjoy seeing roll out or mass collection videos. Interesting how they just throw em up in there, surprised more don't get damaged. Crew could sure move, I guess that's what happens when you get so many guys on a crew. Great post!
+rws676 Thanks. Most crews do stand them up nicely but it's just faster to throw them in. Don't think any damage would matter with how durable they are, especially the ones being sent to be recycled.

+TheNVTrashMan Thanks. They just sit out in the sun at the Long Beach yard and it looks like nothing but new carts there as of today. CR&R and Rainbow are the only companies I know of that keeps their bins inside a building.

I collect carts as a hobby and I had this happen in my neighborhood a few years ago so the night before I drove around my neighborhood taking all the different sizes and style carts I don't already have. Now I have nearly 30 carts in my collection.

+TrashMaster684 Thanks. Yeah they weigh a fucking ton with the Cascades as well. The rubber wheels on some of the Ottos also add a few pounds too. More cart vids to come within the next 6 or so months.

Awesome video. Cart roll-out videos always hold my attention, this was no exception. I watched the whole video no skipping needed. But I didn't see the Bfi cart. Do you mind pointing it out for me? Those rotos seem like the lightest carts but still dont sacrifice durability at all. Sucks to see them go. Really enthusiastic crew, must be a great place to work. How long did you follow them for? Seems like you got 2 or 3 truck loads on film. Anyways super video.
+Garbage industry productions Thanks. I forgot to mention that it didn't have the BFI logo on it, but it's the black Roto with hot stamping on the lid, thrown in right after the brand new green Edge. Any loss of Rotos is always sad since they don't have many buyers today, compared to the past when they dominated the region. The first day I switched back & forth between garbage trucks & the removal crew. Second day was just for a couple streets and that was it. 4 different loads are seen in the vid.

The city began a new agreement with another refuse hauler, and the new hauler delivered brand new containers of their own to the residents.
