The musicality is actually pretty negative and ominous for Racing into the Night. I guarantee if it was done in a slower piano cover it would sound kinda depressing. And no, slower tempo doesn't make something sad. If a fast happy/joyful song is played slowly, it would often sound uplifting and hopeful in a more reflective way. But yeah fs, the tempo and ambiguous voice tone does definitely make for a certain emotional clash

To be honest, this is already the 4th time I’ve seen her trying to jump and commit suicide. There are 2 types of people in the world. Desire to live── the people being ruled by ”Eros”. Desire to die── the people being ruled by ”Thanatos”. Most of the people in this world were the former, but she was undoubtedly the latter. I knew that she was a person being ruled by “Thanatos” before I started dating her. It’s not surprising because I saved her when she was trying to commit suicide on the rooftop, similar to now. As if she had fallen in love with it. I hated that expression of hers. “Don’t look at the Grim Reaper, look at me.” “No…!” She tried to shake my hand off, so I forcefully gripped it without thinking. “Ouch…!” “! Sorry…” But it’s not my fault. It’s because she tried to shake my hand off. Because she won’t look at me. “The Grim Reaper wouldn’t do something like this…!” Something murky is surging in my heart. “Why…” I wonder why, even though I love you so much, you won’t look at me alone. Ikuta (the singer in yoasobi), milet and aimer actually had a collab together and performed it on the first take. The song is called "Omokage" and it was produced by Vaundy! It's a really great song 10/10 would recommend it.

In short, the guy sees the girl trying to jump off a building, stops her, love at first sight, every time she planned to suicide she texted him about it, he thought she wanted him to stop her, but what she really wanted is different, one day, she again tries to jump, he gets there quickly and grabs her hand, she is saying the god of death/grim reaper (Thanatos) is calling for her, he is telling her that she needs to look at him and not at the grim reaper, apparently, the grim reaper appears attractive to whoever it calls, he then asks her, why even though he loves her so much, won't she look at him, she said that she doesn't want to anymore, he said that he doesn't want this either, she said "I'm tired already", "I'm tired too" he said, "I want to die faster" she said, "I also want to die!!" he said... At that moment, when he said he also wants to die, she lifted her head, she smiled. "You finally realised?" she asked. "Ah... I finally understand" he said. "Really? That's great" she said "Ah I see, every time you planned to commit suicide and called me, it was not because you wanted me to save you... you wanted to bring me along" he said Now we understand that she wanted him to suicide with her... The epic point of YOASOBI is that they make some of their songs in English. Ayase(guy making YOASOBI’s songs and lyrics) made the English version and they are soooooo good!! If you have time, try watching English dub of “Idol” and “Racing in the night”
the english version of Idol was pretty bad imo, just felt like they translated the lyrics directly and didnt put any thought into making them coherent or good-sounding, hopefully the Racing into the Night one is better

Racing into the night is actually based off a short story. Once you read it the lyrics and the video make a lot more sense. This is the story. The Temptation of Thanatos August 15. Even though the sun had set a long time ago, humid air continued to linger on in the surroundings. Sweat gushed out endlessly from my body as I dashed up the stairs of the apartment building. “Goodbye.” Her LINE message contained just this word. I immediately understood what that meant. I had been working throughout Obon. Right after completing the preparations for returning home, I had hurriedly headed for the apartment building where I lived. And it was on the roof, outside the fence, where I found her standing with a vacant look in her eyes. The truth is, this was the fourth time I had seen her attempting to take her life by jumping. It is said that there are two kinds of people in this world. Humans who are inclined towards life - governed by “Eros”; And humans who are inclined towards death - governed by “Thanatos”. Most people belong to the former, yet she was unmistakably of the latter kind. That she was a human being governed by “Thanatos” was something I had known even before I began dating her. After all, the reason for our first encounter was because I had tried to save her from attempting suicide on the roof of the apartment building, just like what was happening now. I'm so sorry that Nick misunderstood the BEASTERS because he saw a bad clipping video. I can understand the feeling that animation by CG is not accepted. Every work has its own unique view of the world, but this work is particularly unique and wonderful.
Romance is probably my favorite yoasobi song, the video is incredible. Song is about two lovers, one lives in the modern day and the other in the taisho era, and somehow they've connected through writing letters to one another that seem to transcend time. If you want to hear Ayase from the group sing, he's got some great vocals too. Shock the opening from buddy daddies is him. Straight up banger, that gets played in my car on loop. I think seeing beastars out of context did a disservice to you, it painted an image that really isn't the show. Haru (the bunny) is not my favorite character but she is a well written one with character growth and complexity. I wouldn't label her just yet 🙂

I wouldn't judge BEASTARS based off of an OOC video tbh because Season 1 is pretty damn good. I'd give it a shot, but that scene IS in that season fair warning. The colors and music are extraordinary and it deals with discrimination, murder, etc tec. Lots of heavy topics are presented in the show. Season 2 is ok, but season 1 is great. Other than that, YOASOBI music is extraordinary XD

The second one is my most favorite song of YOASOBI. Its theme and message was so relatable to me and motivated me as a college freshman two years ago during the pandemic. I even read this song's manga representation, Blue Period.
I think Ali should be next up for a dedicated reaction video. Never Say Goodbye is a total smash hit with me, and Wild Side deserves a full listen as well. also, I just wanna say... Haru, the bunny girl from Beastars, is actually an amazing character. not gonna say much more just in case it's ever on the roster for a reaction, but she's legitimately great. like... 16:10 It's not how good the song is, it's how good the story is. I get it people shit on it claiming it's for furries and whatnots but not everyone who enjoyed Zootopia is a furry. It's the same thing with BEASTARS. It has an amazing story that won multiple awards due to how well the writing is and what kind of themes were discussed with its anthropomorphic story. It's honestly a masterpiece that everyone should watch because you will realize how wrong you were once you watched the show.

Not as popular as Yoasobi or Zuotmayo, but I really recommend listening to some KAF and some Minami. If every human must lose their voice except for two, I'd chose those two. Their voices are doing things to me, I swear.
Surprisingly the second song called Blue also known as Gunjou, is kind of wholesome if you don't look too deep into its meaning. Just someone struggling with artist block but soon over comes their anxiety and fears and just went with the flow. 😅
My favourite Yoasobi song is 祝福 (Shukufuku)/The Blessing. Gundam The Witch From Mercury’s op. You actually listened to it when you did the top 10 OPs of 2022 video. Many of Yoasobi’s songs are based on short stories. It look’s like people have already talked about Racing Into the Night here. The Blessing is based on WFM’s prequel story Cradle Planet. It’s told from the perspective of Gundam Aerial wishing her pilot (the MC of the show) for her to take control of her own life and not be some part of a grander plan. As for my favourite song you haven't reacted to yet: Daybreak's bell (Gundam 00 OP 1).

Another meta reason on why the song is so upbeat is that one of the alarm bells when dealing with a depressed patient is spontaneous uncharacteristic joy and happiness. Its a well known sign that they are about to bubble themselves.

the english version of Idol was pretty bad imo, just felt like they translated the lyrics directly and didnt put any thought into making them coherent or good-sounding, hopefully the Racing into the Night one is better

The Temptation of Thanatos
August 15. Even though the sun had set a long time ago, humid air continued to linger on in the surroundings. Sweat gushed out endlessly from my body as I dashed up the stairs of the apartment building.
“Goodbye.”
Her LINE message contained just this word.
I immediately understood what that meant.
I had been working throughout Obon. Right after completing the preparations for returning home, I had hurriedly headed for the apartment building where I lived.
And it was on the roof, outside the fence, where I found her standing with a vacant look in her eyes.
The truth is, this was the fourth time I had seen her attempting to take her life by jumping.
It is said that there are two kinds of people in this world.
Humans who are inclined towards life - governed by “Eros”;
And humans who are inclined towards death - governed by “Thanatos”.
Most people belong to the former, yet she was unmistakably of the latter kind.
That she was a human being governed by “Thanatos” was something I had known even before I began dating her.
After all, the reason for our first encounter was because I had tried to save her from attempting suicide on the roof of the apartment building, just like what was happening now.
She was a girl who had just moved into the same apartment building. With her round eyes and full lips, she possessed a lovely set of facial features yet had a delicate expression on her face. She stole my heart in an instant. Surely, it must have been love at first sight.
From that moment on, we chatted about various topics and became good friends very quickly. For me, who had been working at a black company and living my life in solitude, she was like an angel who had descended from the heavens.
Except, I had one doubt.
Each time she had planned to take her life, she would contact me without fail. And she would wait there until I arrived.
I thought it would be better to die alone without telling anyone, but perhaps, somewhere in her heart, she wished for me to stop her from committing suicide and help her, like I did the first time we had met. I simply took this as an explanation for her actions.
And that’s why I rushed up the stairs of the apartment building this time as well.
“Haa, haa…”
I reached the roof of the apartment building.
I found her standing on the opposite side of the fence, with her back towards me.
“Wait…!!”
I jumped over the fence and took hold of her hand.
It was cold, contrary to the humid weather.
“Let go.”
Akin to the ringing of bells, her voice was fleeting and sweet. I loved her voice too.
“Why are you doing this…!”
“I want to die, quickly.”
“Why…!”
“Because the god of death is calling for me.”
She could see the ‘god of death’. This was said to be a rare symptom amongst those who were governed by “Thanatos”.
And apart from them, no one else could see this ‘god of death’.
“There’s no such thing as the god of death.”
“Why won’t you understand…!”
When I deny the existence of a god of death, she would definitely scream and shout.
It seems that to those who can see it, the god of death is most attractive. It resembles their ideal person, so to speak.
Whenever she was gazing at the god of death (although for me, I don’t see anything else besides an empty space), her expression was always that of a maiden in love. It was as if she had completely lost her heart to it.
I hated that kind of expression on her face.
“Don’t look at the god of death or whatever, look at me.”
“No…!”
Since she tried to shake my hand off, I ended up holding hers even harder without thinking.
“It hurts…!”
“! Sorry…”
But, isn’t this your fault? Because you were trying to shake my hand off. Because you wouldn’t look at me instead.
“The god of death wouldn’t do such a thing…!”
The darkness in my heart surged forth.
“Why…”
Why is it that even though I love you so much, you would not even spare me a glance?
Somewhere in my heart, I thought it was ridiculous to feel jealousy towards a god of death, but even that could not bother me anymore.
“I’m sick of this.”
I’m sick of this too.
“I’m tired.”
I’m tired too.
“I want to die quickly.”
“I want to die too!!”
At that point, she lifted her head.
She was grinning broadly at me.
As soon as I saw her smiling face, I felt the darkness in my heart dissipate in an instant.
Wait, could it be that?
“Did you finally… realise?”
“Yeah… I finally understood.”
“Really…? That’s great.”
Ah, I see.
The reason you called me each time you planned to commit suicide was not because you wanted my help.
It was because you wanted to bring me along with you.
To me, she was the ‘god of death’.
A cool breeze blew past. Before I knew it, I could no longer feel the heat and humidity from before.
“Well then, shall we go?”

Romance is probably my favorite yoasobi song, the video is incredible. Song is about two lovers, one lives in the modern day and the other in the taisho era, and somehow they've connected through writing letters to one another that seem to transcend time.
If you want to hear Ayase from the group sing, he's got some great vocals too. Shock the opening from buddy daddies is him. Straight up banger, that gets played in my car on loop.
I think seeing beastars out of context did a disservice to you, it painted an image that really isn't the show. Haru (the bunny) is not my favorite character but she is a well written one with character growth and complexity. I wouldn't label her just yet 🙂

I wouldn't judge BEASTARS based off of an OOC video tbh because Season 1 is pretty damn good. I'd give it a shot, but that scene IS in that season fair warning. The colors and music are extraordinary and it deals with discrimination, murder, etc tec. Lots of heavy topics are presented in the show. Season 2 is ok, but season 1 is great. Other than that, YOASOBI music is extraordinary XD

Its theme and message was so relatable to me and motivated me as a college freshman two years ago during the pandemic. I even read this song's manga representation, Blue Period.

Racing into the night is absolutely my favorite non anime japanese song and it’s not even close
16:10 It's not how good the song is, it's how good the story is. I get it people shit on it claiming it's for furries and whatnots but not everyone who enjoyed Zootopia is a furry. It's the same thing with BEASTARS. It has an amazing story that won multiple awards due to how well the writing is and what kind of themes were discussed with its anthropomorphic story. It's honestly a masterpiece that everyone should watch because you will realize how wrong you were once you watched the show.

It’s told from the perspective of Gundam Aerial wishing her pilot (the MC of the show) for her to take control of her own life and not be some part of a grander plan.
