It’s the grade of the cables the thicker the wire the better. You will need more panels to charge faster. 1X100watt panel will not charge fast and using the yeti at the same time will affect charging timeframe. The solar optimization is for non-X models. The 1500X can take up to 600watt on solar input. This will allow the fast charge within a 4-5hours.

Didn't watch the entire vid but, Inputs are PWM and Mppt. Do give the BMS a bit of time to process what your doing before plugging in and unplugging charge inputs. Also your thinking solar is instant and constant like a 120V outlet. Goal Zero will charge with any good known solar panel manufacturer so that's not an issue.
Main concern is the melted plastic. I'd stop using the Yeti until you call the Goal Zero hotline and get help from customer service. Something is very wrong internally. My guess is they will want you to return that unit ASAP for evaluation. Ask for immediate replacement.

I have the same problem with a 1000x and two GZ 100w solar panels. Power jumps between 0 and 30 watts on a bright sunny day. I bought 2 Renogy 100w panels and it is a little better. Jumps between 50 and 80 watts. But I feel like I should be getting more than 40% of the rated power on a bright sunny day.

thats whacky. I was frustrated my solar hooked to from 8mm and sore power hooked to the top back would not charge simultaneously, I have to unplug to get one to work. sometimes it doesn't work after that too. maybe I need that solar module like you have. I plan to get the car link to charge while driving

1250 goal zero is better than the new one. Heat affects the way it charges. Solar panels that are not goal zero cause problems too. I watched your other video and learned how to use 1250. They work great on cold 25 degrees.

To charge a Goal Zero with a third party solar panel is like messing with the garantee. It does not have to work and it is possible that the unit is fighting to make it work , why it was turning warm on the plate that you showed ! I suspect the solar panel is why you have trouble making it charge the battery !

Try pushing units + info button at the same time until your screen goes blank. This will rest the on board computer. If you do a you tube search "How to reset your goal zero you can get more info. This is also one of the first things goal zero customer service will tell you to do when having problems with your goal zero. Hope this helps!!! It's totally harmless to your goal zero!!

The Yeti dislike some 18 volt solar panels. The output of these panels is around 19 up to 20 volts. The Goal Zero solar panels are 21 volt types, the output is around 22 volts.
I'm using Jackery and Goal Zero batteries and solar panels, both systems comes with the 8 mm plug. It's possible to charge the Jackery with the GZ panels (Boulder 100 and Nomad 200), it's possible to charge the Yeti 150, 400 (both old lead acid), 200x and 500x with the Jackery panels (Solar Saga, 18 volts), but the Yeti 1000x get some issues when I charge it with the Jackery panel.
A another 18 volt panel works good with the 1000x, the Solar Saga doesn't. The Yeti 1000x and above are like a diva, they don't accept any solar panel.

Have you found a solution? This isn’t okay for the price we paid. It isn’t your solar panel by the way. I’m having same problem with GZ OEM equipment
