You should do this video again ...every 3 or 4 months.... my FAVORITE part was the 3rd party API project.... in December when I first watched this I was still trying to figure it all out.... now here we are -almost exactly 4 months later and I just got home from an interview where I showed them my API project and they LOVED that I understood so much... and that's just it what you said in this video is so true! thanks for all our help/encouragement/info!!! .... as I walked out the owner said "We'll definitely be in touch!"
This is true Joe. I was learning MERN stack when I watched your videos and abandoned that crap for PHP and I learnt PHP. I just got a remote job making Gatsby themes using WordPress as a headless CMS.
Thanks for letting us know, Joe has real heart and im going to follow him and his ideas from now on, dont have any time left to waste. Did you got after that employer or were they looking on a regular job site?
@@matthewp2522 they just saw a project I made using that technology and contacted me and gave me a job immediately. it's so unreal. The headless CMS niche is still very new.
@@matthewp2522 Reddit. What Joe Says is very true. It's better for junior developers to niche down initially on unsexy technologies. Hey Joe, I just signed up for a yearly subscription yesterday. Loving the courses so far. I like the fact that you put things into context, and show how we can apply the skills to not only get a job, but also exist the rat race. I also love the fact that your platform is has a variety of technologies and languages etc. Definitely value for money. Keep up the great work. Blessings.
Thanks again Joe, would you consider doing a show for the people here who dont know how to evaluate their current level of job readiness? Something quick where you just look at the resume and the project portfolio and say level up lil bobby or stop what you are doing and go out there and apply. That is one of the hard things about being self taught you don't know how you compare to what the market actually needs.
Hey Joe. Was waiting on this one for a long time :) wish I knew this back in 2017 when I was unemployed...would have made the job hunt easier. This could be a good Bundle idea...do a vid on the top 5 projects for *insert programming* and when they come to the site they have 5 courses with those same projects in them. Keep up the good work!
@@waldomack7735 I was just curious which one would give me a better chance of getting a job. I prefer full stack but I just need to get in the game asap so was wondering which one would get me the best shot.
TY🙏 Hey joe, when will the new html/css course be up and ready. I’m itching to dive in. I want to spend January and February going through the html email developer path. I finally have time. Thanks for your content. It’s really got my mind right and eyes on a vision for where I would like to take this.
Yo dude thank you very very much for this video it's really meaningful to me, give me back the spirits to learn php again and hopefully i can use the example project for my portfolio and get hired, tysm 😭 👍
Hey Joe, How does this advice applies to 2023? I am just finished going over basics to intermediate PHP, also I see people making faces at me for learning Php. :( what would you suggest bro?
@@CodingPhase awesome, thanks Phase. So on the low end, you're making a company $50,000 a month. 4 websites +1 wordpress plugin at $5,000 each every 2 weeks. So, if they pay you $100,000 a year, or $10,000 a month it's worth it for the company to hire you.
The issue though is that I suck at answering nor doing technical questions :(. I built a website version of Uber and Uber Eats and still can't get a job.
Can you share a link to a working project you built? I find it odd that you cant get a job even though you have a project you built yourself. Most people dont even have a single project in their CV.
@@pkrockin3923 This is my best project thephynix.com/. The issue are the questions they ask and the time limit/frame they provide. The daily life of a developer is spent on Google, UA-cam and Stackoveflow so I don't remember the answer to these questions out of my head. I have a step father that's been a civil engineer for 40 years and he can't remember everything in his head. Idk maybe this is something that's specific to Jamaica.

Depends where you are man. Lots around where i am
I'm stickin with it
78% of all websites on the internet are using PHP in some way! 78%!
If the language is dead or alive is the last thing you should care.

Thanks for guiding us Joe. If you can, please do a video on woocommerce too (unless its dying)?
Question. If I know the fundamentals HTML CSS JS, would it better to get a job to focus on front end with React, or go with PHP instead?
Depends. Do you want to be a front end dev or a backend dev or full stack
