I was carjacked at gunpoint and I had a session. In one visit I was able to totally get past the fear and anxiety of going outside or getting in a car. . It was truly like it never happened!! I am in total shock!! I recommend this to anyone!

Because of covid, my therapist is doing this therapy with my eyes close and bilateral tones/music on headphones. It is working amazingly, I am hoping you can talk more about this method in the future.

The mind will always attach a belief to traumatic events so you do have to deal with the troubled thoughts as well as the images.

    • @joyparismusic
      @joyparismusic 2 роки тому +4

The concept is the thoughts will change once the images are changed. The thoughts really follow the images, not the other way around

ARt works on a subconscious level in the realm of metaphor, the logical part of your brain catches up in subsequent days as you process the changes( sometimes awareness of the thought changes occur in session, and new ART scripts always ask about new perspectives

I'm halfway through the video and have a burning question. What if you don't see images in your head (aphantasia)?

They have scripts that address our different emotions. They can also do eye movements to help us recall traumatic memories. Accelerated Resolution Therapy works! Try it.

I asked my therapist the same question even though I don't have that issue, just was curious. They said it's the mixture of eye movements and emotions that is important, not your ability to clearly picture scenes in your head

The name ART therapy always throws me off as I do art therapy with my therapist that involves drawing lol. The being ART gets confusing talking to people about the 2

Would be beneficial to see the full videos to understand how it actually works. I know as much about the science as I knew before I watch this.
I’ve known that rapid eye movement is powerful for most my life because there’s so many things I’ve heard about it from different people telling different usage’s of it.
It’s a brain balancing of the two hemispheres I think is clear. The two become one in thought perhaps is one thing to say about it?
It’s nice to see the results but learning is not found with just that. Proves it’s truth at least I guess.
    Very interesting.

It’s memory reconsolidation, exposure and desensitization, and image replacement and re-scripting to eliminate the trigger points and create a new experience of the memory that is positive instead of negative

So how is it supposed to help when somebody just wants to die and they're a substance abuser and their hope is to die while using substances there really is no negative impact except for Continuing living. So in other words to keep using and hopes to die is our only thought process. How can you see any positive and it's literally always aNegative

Hi 👋 Thanks for commenting. People use substances for a number of reasons--most often to cope with uncomfortable emotions, trauma, etc. Often times people will say that they want to die but what they really want is to be free from the pain they're in. That's totally understandable. That said, death is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Things can and will get better if the person who is struggling is willing to seek outside help.

@@seanchristopherdanieldiaz9791 just checking in. are you doing okay? I was asked by my therapist to watch this ted talk and I saw your comment. I hope you are doing well. I also wanted to respond to your comment a bit... There is a HUGE negative impact that suicide has and that is usually felt by the family/friends/pets/coworkers etc... that are left behind. I have lost too many to suicide and to this day I still feel the loss. You are beautiful, and things can and will get better. Do the work. try the meds. find a passion and run with it. I hope this helps. I hope you're okay.

A therapist CAN and will help you with these thoughts. Negative Cognitions are very heavy on a depressed mind. ART can focus on your feelings of depression and possibly some historical situations that may cause even more depressed feelings. Looking for TRAUMA that causes a lot of changes in our minds is the first step. A therapist can also help with addictions. Do you have a therapist?

I was killing myself on fentanyl, had a life of trauma... caused people trauma too. I went to one session, healed it all. Hit one more session just cover data I forgot, never would get on a plane.. all the way healed of everything. Watched out the window the whole plane ride never felt fear. I never could breathe out of my chest. Like breathing broken glass so much weight and pain. I'm.... healed. I've never in my life, nor even childhood felt this good. I'm going to school to learn to do it to help people with this. It works. Yesss
