Very interesting location to make your base at, I tried this but failed. After 3 different locations I settled in the middle and just held the one choke. I just beat both factions for the first time, fun memories, fun game.
Got stuck on this mission. I followed online guide which focuses on setting up the base to the east, near the river. But this doesn't work as I always ended up crushed by the @7:20 push. I'll try your way instead.
I tried this method. I build much faster than the dude and yet I still get crushed. When I play, the AI sends waaaay more units at me than in this video. He send a mass of rocket dudes which destroy everything so easily. You cant even run them over as you melt before you get anywhere near them.
@@at0micsheep Seems your AI evolved, lol. It worked for me, I built line of rocket towers with spare repairmen ready behind. Try to build bunch of anaconda tanks and use 1-2 to draw fire from big units. It's the hardest mission in the game by far, I never got stuck on later missions.
What makes their waves so difficult to hold back is the fact that they have an infinite oil supply. It's difficulty inflation. At any point in the game, if you find it, click on the oil rig located north-east. It's *always* full. I even tried attacking from said north-east to deny their oil supply. I used something like 6-8 anaconda tanks, 8 flamethrowers and 8 SWATs. They attacked me in the south (I located my base next to the cliff this guy used), where I had 3 missile turrets and slightly better vehicle+infantry numbers, but stronger in infantry (more SWATS, flamethrowers and grenadiers thrown in the mix). As soon as they did that, I blew up their oil rig, followed by their grapeshot turret and started attacking their power plants. So far so good, right? I tried my best to tell the turrets group to focus on infantry clusters and elephants while manuevering my main army and trying not to forget my secondary army in the north-east. I was starting to wish I was born with 4 arms. Anyway, soon as one power plant went pop, the AI instantly starts building another. And another. And another. The derrick passes by me chill as can be and reinstalls the oil rig. My main army repelling their forces is still cleaning up the remnants and the AI magically happens to have an equally or similarly-sized army successfully repelling my north-east army. 5 minutes later, it's as if I was never there and it's business as usual. Then I hear "Our oil supplies are low" as I stare at the always-full blue bar on that mutant oil rig. Fuck. This. Mission. I swear, I am a cunt hair away from either hex-editing the save file or finding a completed one online.
@@ESFAndy011 If it's any comfort, this IS the hardest mission in the campaign! I barely had to redo other missions till the end, after passing this one.
