The biggest transmission in UK is 400kV and that has been for decades. Don't know why this suddenly surfaces. US has 765kV while China operates 11,000kV and in DC too. Thus 400kV in AC isn't in the class of UHV which starts at 800kV. UK electricity generation peaked in 2005 and each year manages to make do with less and less power because manufacturing is being abandoned in favour of the service industry. Can't see UK grid going anywhere now.
