I've never watched The Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I've read the books 3 or 4 times. I did know that this song is from the movies made of the book series by recognizing Frodo, Gandalf, and Gollum. I absolutely LOVE this song!!
If you want to see something wildly awesome, you should check out the a capella cover of this song that Peter Hollens does. It's stunning and intense and beautiful.
Ed wrote and recorded the entire song in about 12 hours after Peter Jackson showed him an early screening of the film. He also plays every instrument on it except the cello (which is funny bc he played cello as a child, lol). He even taught himself violin for it. He's a beast!

I’m not an expert but I think this song was used on the Hobbit the desolation of Smaug 👍
How could you read the books and not watch the movies? Absolutely crazy
Love it so far
You should see him do this one live - i did - it was AWESOME and unbelievable - he is alone on stage a one man act!!
Lucky man take it to the grave homie
Thank You
No idea why this song gets so few views on reactions because for me this is a top 3 Ed song. It is beautiful.
Love this😊👌

Love this song. It especially is poignant for today... We don't realize if one burns we all burn...

What is this? This is from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. That’s from around 8 years ago.
Who actually wrote the words to the song?
it was ed himself
