I knew I had to build Killian when I saw it. Turned it into Orzhov blink value town and kill your stuff deck. For example, Settle Beyond Reality is kind of insane here. And then I randomly pulled a foil Killian off of one pack my parents sent me. So that was fun.
Strixhaven came pretty close tbh, Dina is great and I think Rootha actually might be underrated as well; Zimone and the boros one were both kinda flops but 3/5 is pretty good. Strixhaven brought us some absolutely fantastic commanders, that was a great set for EDH
@@natekite7532 I think many people don't quite "get" Rootha and her potential. I saw a match on YT and the guy running her seemed to have no clue on how to use her!

I'm building a deck for my son, ironically named Killian, glad I found this because I so wanted to include this card but didn't have any ideas that worked off the top of my head
Typing this before watching. You guys sparked my interest months ago when you mentioned Killian as an underplayed Commander. After that I built something similar some weeks back. So gonna enjoy this video!
This video taught me a lesson, that when 3.1 average CMC is considered extremely low maybe i'm going way too low for my low to mid casual decks. 3.1 is honestly on the high side for my decks nowadays (obviously i know that for the most part that number here is misleading since killian is kinda awesome) .
I think Kaya's Ghostform is a lot worse in a deck that isn't prepared to repeatedly recur it. If it's just a one-off effect, as it's likely to be in this deck, without being actively *extremely* good in the deck (since you'll still be losing all of your enchantments if Killian dies), it loses a lot of its value.
I have a Sram voltron auras deck that has gone a bit stale and isn't being played much. I could see it being pretty easy to turn into a Killian deck. Nice tech.
Big fan of killian. Recently built him, but I do have a couple questions. I've never played with or against an enchantress deck. 1) When you phase out a creature with enchantments (robe of stars), do you get the etb effects? 2)When you flicker a creature with enchantments, do the enchantments fall off and go to the graveyard? Thanks!
Phase out doesn't trigger ETB, because it never switched zones or left the battlefield, that means it keeps all of its enchantments. Flickering a creature moves it to exile and back, and all the enchantments would fall off.
This is a very fun deck. I made my own version for standard brawl in arena. Halvar is a fantastic addition, doublestrike and the ability to move enchantments is very useful.
I’m thinking of building this but balancing auras/voltron and targeted removal. Tetsuo Umezawa seems like a bomb inclusion if you’re mercing your opponents creatures left and right.
I was already thinking of this commander but I already have my Liesa deck, I've been drawn to a lot of 2-color decks recently.. mostly type combos I already had lol I do like the idea of not including super-staples, I feel like my table is liking them a lot recently - Fierce Guardianship is starting to get annoying lol
So glad there is a hatred in this deck. Should have mentioned how a turn 3 kill is possible with this. also surprised there wasn't a battle mastery in here for double strike
What's your opinion on Thantis the Warweaver? I'm currently building a budget ~ 30$ deck with defender and vigilance and fog But I would really like to know what do you think about her as a commander in general?
I didn't know Finale of Eternity existed because I missed the set it came from, also something to consider for Killian is that all the aura draw creatures are based off cast so its pretty easy to include all the torpor orb hate bears.
In regards to the tidbit: I think different beliefs; even religious and political beliefs, can still exist in a healthy long term relationship. Different core values; which may be closely linked to some of those beliefs, I think are not sustainable. Every relationship is built on compromise, but it's usually not healthy (imo) to compromise your core values. edit: sick deck, I've been looking for a fun Orzhov deck that isn't just Lifegain or Aristocrats.
I didn't really like Killian as a commander, especially compared to the other uncommon legends from Strixhaven, but this video made him look pretty awesome. This looks like a really fun deck.
Nope. Went a whole different way. Lots of ramp, big beatters and winner creatures, plus kill spells, self mill, and reanimate spells. Got to get the beater Demons and angels out early. Then use Kilian's ability to make the reanimate cards cost less to bring them back on the battlefield. Most of this spells in these colors are 4, 5, and 6 drops that turn into 2, 3, and 4 drops.
Hatred, love me some Hatred since Exodus. I thought it was funny how the card was so low in price for years and than I guess it was discovered for EDH...I should have bought more than 2. LOL This deck is missing one land which you have to play post combat after you slay someone with Hatred and get all the life back because of Lifelink: Salt Flats #Delicious ;P
Oh my God I can't believe you guys are doing Killian hes my favorite Is out of strixhavon and I was really thinking about making a deck around him so this is perfect
Slaughter is one of my fav removal spells in my Killian deck, costs 💀💀 and buyback for 4 life to continually be able to kill problematic non-black creatures. Also Hatred in this deck is just a one shot kill.
Any thoughts on why you guys talk about Necropotence so much more often than Ad Nauseam? It just seems lightyears ahead in ending the game if it resolves. Willing to change my mind though, so I'd love to hear your reasons.
It requires much more deck building around it, in cedh this doesn’t matter as you just win with fast mana but especially in casual necro goes in almost every black deck while always paying 1 life per card. While ad naus is probably more competitive and powerful, it isn’t an auto include in every deck ever unlike necro, even in cedh as naus isn’t in every black deck. I think it also gets less talk as it’s almost exclusively a competitive card, and while it dominates there, the community is much smaller. I am biased as it’s one of my favourite cards though. TDLR ad naus is better but not as much as a super staple across all power levels
@@elipetrou9308 do you watch playing with power? It's my go to cedh channel and entire decks revolve around the power of ad naus and necro. Necro is played more often, but the effect of ad nausing on an opponents end step to untap with all the cards is almost more valuable than getting your best 7 off the top X cards of your library and exiting the rest. Necro just has an aggressive mana cost.
@@ADudeWhoExperiences1393 yes very often, and that was my point. While as naus is more powerful it isn’t as ubiquitous *in non cedh* the Nerds play mid to high power but not really within the cedh meta game, and I’m guessing they don’t see it as often, the RC also doesn’t care because it doesn’t affect casual, if any casual player tried to slam an ad naus they would die after a couple cards, where in competitive they just kinda win. Overall people don’t care about the problems in more competitive metas as they affect less people. I agree with you, but no one really cares about as naus as they rarely see it
@@elipetrou9308 I play it in two of my 7-8 power decks, Greven and my life swap deck. Does work in both since greven loves lifelink and life swap loves getting low or getting a ton of life.
Love this, but maybe have this separate from the tune-up name? I mean, y'all make daily content so spinning this off to just a separate semi-regular segment seems somewhat smart!
When it comes to shared beliefs in relationships, there are certain things that you should be in agreement on or the relationship will either not work at all or be a constant point of tension that puts the relationship at risk of failing. There's plenty of other things that people can feel very strongly about but might not directly affect the relationship and not be that big a deal if you don't force the issue or it's not something that comes up much or really affects your life. An example would be like one of you just completely hates a specific actor because you don't like their style of acting. You might hotly debate it, but it's unlikely to affect your daily life if you don't push the subject or talk about it much beyond being a recurring discussion in good faith.
