  • This video’s goal is to explain the specifics of the nora® Lunatur Walnut EVA materials and shows a step by step guidance on how to make an insole with our nora® Lunatur composite sheet.
The health benefits of walnuts are well-known: The nuts are said to have a prophylactic effect on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. So what actually happens to the shells encasing these valuable nuts?
In regard to the sustainable and ecologically aware refinement of its EVA products, nora has made use of it: The Lunatur Walnut range consist for a large part of finely ground walnut shells.
We therefore use a natural, renewable raw material of a natural waste product: resource-saving, ecologically valuable, sustainable, natural!
The result: high quality EVA materials that generate a comfortable foot climate:
Lunatur 18 Walnut (approx. 18 Shore A) bedding cushioning properties
Lunatur 27 Walnut (approx. 27 Shore A) permanently resilient cushioning properties
Lunatur 50 Walnut (approx. 50 Shore A) stabilising properties
    • hygienic closed cell structure
    • sustainable and ecologically valuable
    • SG tested for harmful substances
    • dermatologically tested for skin compatibility.
The composite sheet Lunatur combi CW consists of Lunatur 27 Walnut and Lunatec cork H (EVA layer with a high cork content; approx. 50 Shore A).
And this is how to make an ecologically valuable insole in just a few steps…
Draw and cut Lunatur combi CW with an extra of 1,5 cm of material.
Heat up Lunatur combi CW in a closed heating source
    Settings for oven: 130°C / 266°F
    Heating time: approx. 5 minutes
For heat moulding put the last on the vacuum press; if required, put metatarsal dome on it.
Press on it and then cool down completely so material will stay in shape.
    Cooling time: approx. 10 minutes
Trim off excess material for faster and more precise grinding.
The permanently resilient layer of Lunatur 27 Walnut serves as a cover.
Tipp: A thin check shoe sheeting on the last is recommended for a particularly smooth surface.
    Grind insole to shape.
The result is an insole with permanently resilient and stabilising function, that is ideal for the correction of deformities, shows outstanding edge stability for pressed insoles and features excellent grinding properties. Just give it a try!
