Hello Bruce, glad to see you still enjoy this stuff! Tecumseh started out as Lauson Power Products out of Grafton Wisconsin U.S.A. I think the original castings and design of tecumseh carburetors were by Tillotson out of Tiledo Ohio U.S.A.
nice one Bruce, I used an older Jiffy 30 with a 16 or 18 inch auger commercial fishing for many years, they sound so darn nice when under a heavy load. take care !
Good job , you need to get you a 2cycle tecumseh repair manuel , it will save you time and alot of headaches!!! And I always tell my customers, especially ones with augers to have patience and let them warm up !!!!!!! 2cycle motors are VERY cold blooded , chain saws too . Patience is the key , it ain't no RACE !!!!!! Lol
Here is the (Base)Carb Settings For the Jiffy model 30 pre 1996 (No red limiter caps just a slotted screw head) Idle Screw (Left one) 1&1/8th out from Closed High Speed (Right one) 5/8 Out from closed Newer Jiffy Model 30 ( Red Limiter Caps) Idle Screw (left one) 1/4 open from closed High Speed (Right one) 1&1/4 turn open from closed. These are Base settings adjust from here. The key with these old Tecumseh's is to tune them in Cold weather for best performance and tune them with a load either at the lake or in the snow bank with the cover on the blade and press down hard, they run totally different under load. This is for Jiffy Model 30 with the 3hp Tecumseh made up until 2007.
@@BrucesShop No Problem Bruce! I collect Model 30s So I had to Learn how to tune them myself. They Are one of the Best Gas Augers Ever made, built like a tank a bit Heavy but cant have it all Lol. Alot of people get fed up with them because the Diaphragm carb can be Finiky to Tune. It Requires a bit of patience and time and most people seem to be running short on both these days. Keep up the Great work Bruce!
I recently started ice fishing and bought a newer Jiffy, plus a good friend gave me an older unit. The newer one has two jets like my chainsaw. The old one only has one jet. All the instructions I see in my research is for 2 jet carbs. Do I tune the one jet carb the same way I'd tune a single jet carb on a 4 Stroke? ✌️🍩
@@donutdan1508 Hi Dan all the Older Tecumseh 3hp I own have a low speed and high speed jet. I think your jet is hidden behind a cap on the carb there was a few years that they had a tamper proof carb. I think its donny boy who has a video on tuning a carb like you have. Sorry I cannot be more helpful. I think if you do some Google searches and check out some videos you will find your answer.👍
Nice job Sir,. Little story, was walking into a harbor fright, misspelled on purpose, and sitting in the trashcan was a brand new 3hp posthole digger simular to this one here, I pulled the rope and it was seized, so left it there, went into the store got what I wanted and left, well as I was leaving, I grabbed the digger, and took it home, thought I could use parts off of it, started to take it apart, and low and behold, I spy a fence bolt caught between the flywheel fin and the coil, it was wedged in good too, well got the bolt out, and guess what, it started right up, now all I need it the digging auger attachment and I got myself a brand new fence post 3hp digger.... LMAO
I have no issues with your work at all. Mighty pretty work Bruce. You could work in a small engine shop no problem. I did for a long time. Now my shop is in my back yard. I like this better. I do charge for my work but not as much as a real shop would charge. I don’t have the over head. More fun here. No time clock.
I just googles carb kit for Jiffy 3HP auger and got this www.amazon.com/Carb-Tecumseh-Jiffy-Auger-Model/dp/B01MYQZ65D/ref=sr_1_3?crid=89LS7O9WSK05&keywords=jiffy+model+30+carburetor+kit&qid=1704389790&sprefix=jiffy+model+30+carburetor+kit%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-3
If you Run Tc-w3 Outboard Semi - Synthetic oil in these Old Model 30s they really run nice and No 2 stroke smell. I run mine at the suggested 24:1 and with the High Concentration of oil in the Gas the Ethanol is not a Problem. The Key to these Diaphragm Carbs is To always Keep Gas in the Tank that way the Diaphragm never dries out and Gets Hard. A Friend of mine had a old model 30 that was his Fathers and it Sat for 15 years in his shed. I Drained the tank and took the bottom off the carb and much to my surprise the Diaphragm was still plyable, We put fresh Gas in her got her primed and she fired right up and purred like a kitten.
Hi Bruce. I've only worked on about 3 of these jiffys and they can be quite fiddly. Most of my friends have went to the battery augers and say they like them. Great work on getting it running good again. The spark plug seemed to make the difference eh.
30:1 fuel mix? I thought that with the new oil mixes 50:1 is good for all engines. Regardless of what the manufacturer suggests. Chainsaws can be 45:1 because of the high rpm. This is what I am hearing. Any thoughts on this? Did you use an older style mix?
Nice video Mr Bruce, I never knew that about the different diaphragm/gasket orientation, that was nice of Leider41 to include with the kits. LoL.... 36:15 had me rolling, keep practicing Mr Bruce and you'll sound just like me in no time!! 🤣🤣
Great fix on that auger Bruce. Those diaphragm styles have always given me a fit in the past. Great catch on that spark plug. Should be ready to put to work now. Cheers!!!
@@BrucesShop cool, just where I am we may get snow once every 10 years , cool engine and equipment. Reminds me of the guy who changed his weed eater power head to power a blender for mixing drinks at the beach.
Tecumseh bought Power Products in 1957 for their 2 stroke engines, built in Grafton Wisconsin, then merged them with Lauson to form Lauson Power Products. I guess the carb is a Power Products 2 stroke carb built in Grafton.
Came to you as a basket case but well saved. 🤣
Well yes it was in a basket LOL
