I've just switched to GSServer and was wondering how it handled meridian crossing. You've given me the answer before the sun has even set! I'm going to try it out this evening! Thank you from the south of France (Saint-Tropez area).
Thank you for this video and letting me know about GSS as I seem to have problems using the program, so I have subscribed and look forward to learning more. Cheers......
I just moved to GSS today from the Synscan Wifi app.. I didn't even know that GSS has an ASCOM driver for the wifi dongle so I had been avoiding it until now. I'm really liking it so far. But last week I think I had a similar issue in PHD2 where my mount seemed to have went haywire near the end of my session, but the clouds had just rolled in and I was calling it a night anyway so I kind of forgot about it. But it's the first time I ever experienced it as I rarely need to do a meridian flip because I mostly shoot more to the west due to obstructions in the east. But this was helpful, and if it happens again I'll know why!
Have you tried the "Go To Dec Pulse" option? It claims to be more accurate, but you have to disable it when calibrating and then re-enable it (if I understand correctly)
Have you found any benefit from switching to GSS? I've been using EQMOD since I started and have been reluctant to switch over to GSS because EQMOD just works. Does GSS let you set up mount limits to prevent tripod collision?
They both do essentially the same thing. So there is no obvious benefit from moving to GSS. But having said that, Microsoft has ended support for a lot of legacy software, and if my memory serves me right (please take this with a large grain of salt LOL) that one of the software libraries used in EQMOD is one of those which Microsoft has ended support. Having worked in IT, that usually means a re-write of software, and well I decided that instead of looking at potential issues down the road, I might as well as bite the bullet so to speak and use something more "modern." I have been pleasantly surprised thus far, no issues other than setting one checkbox in PHD2 to allow it to reverse commands for DEC. I really appreciate the 3D display of the mount, it helps me to understand where it is pointed if something goes wrong, like pointing at my wall! CS.

I am not sure that GSS is managing limits and PEC between PHD2 corrections
