I'll come home

I'll come home" is a documentary that Björn Rallare started working on in August 2021 with support from Film i Öst. The premiere took place at Filmstaden in Linköping, Sweden, on October 6, 2022, and then the film continued its journey around the world at smaller film festivals. Swedish television felt that this was not their thing, so now "I'll come home" ends up here on UA-cam.
In March 2022, it was 50 years since Roland Dernmark suffered a shipwreck in the Bay of Biscay with the ship Stensö. Björn got to know Roland over twenty years ago and the story of his unlikely luck and the mere four beers they had to get by in the raft before they were found several days later lingered with him. When Björn became interested in making a documentary film, he contacted Roland and asked if they could talk for a bit, and that was the beginning of many cups of coffee, cigarettes and possibly some cake.
It turns out that Roland not only suffered shipwrecks but worked on boats that exploded, twice, dug gold in Australia and lived and worked with the Sami and with musk oxen in the mountains. Through all these years, when he wandered aimlessly among mountains, hitchhiked his way through the world and lived his life in his own way - he has hurt his leg a little once. And hurt his back twice. Roland wanted to go out and see the world when he was young. His adoptive parents signed papers so he could go to sea and now he has been living on Vasavägen in Linköping for thirty years, turning off his hearing aid and enjoying the solitude.
This is the story of Roland.
The film was created by Björn Rallare, sound by Peder Carlsson, editing consultant was Mikael "Orsa" Ottergren and animation by Alfred Lindahl.

❤ så fint att återse Roland 😊 Vi bodde i samma lilla By Alanäs i västra Jämtland på 80-talet och jag lekte med barnen i den härliga familjen. Roland var alltid så glad och brukade busa med oss. Ibland åkte vi iväg ut på utflykter🎉 Tack så jättemycket för den här filmen❤
