  • While teaching my son to fillet fish with an electric knife. I think I finally stumbled onto the secret to doing it! I used small sunfish for the video because I'm confident if you can learn to fillet a bluegill you can fillet any fish with one of these knives!
    I hope it helps!
    Thanks for watching!!!

      I might have to do a summer time coon trapping video. They are wearing out my feeders.

    Exactly! And on bigger fish….pull the fish more than your pushing the knife helps. Great explanation. Ima need to see some fishing videos even if you have to text me short clips of catching them 😆

      I'll get a catfishing video up! For old time sake, they sure don't preform as well as the crossbow videos. I put one up early this spring I don't think it even drew 500 views.

      @@clashsoldman one of them natural progressions I guess. I shot a critter with one of the little bows and the video preformed well so I made another. They consistently preformed well so I kept making them.
      The catfishing videos didn't do as well so I got away from making them, but I'll definitely get a couple up soon. I don't care if it doesn't get 20 views I'll get one up for you. I sure appreciate every one of yall!

    That’s a good tip I never used an electric knife before even when I was a deck had on a charter boat I would fillet 30-40 bottom fish a trip sometimes and it was all with my victorinox fillet knife but I always wanted to get an electric knife my grandpa had one he let me use it once when I was little I couldn’t feel the bones so I kept cutting through the spine but I was maybe 6 at the time so I’m sure it would be different now for me lol

    • @TheWaterSwatters
      @TheWaterSwatters  Рік тому +1

      Yeah my son was cutting through the spine almost every time but when he let off the trigger to make the turn he had it!

    Can you give any tips on filleting the skin off

    • @TheWaterSwatters
      @TheWaterSwatters  7 місяців тому

      I'd say back pressure....pull the skin with the other hand. Other than that it just takes a little practice. Ya kinda get a feel for it after a while.

      I've never sharpened one. I just use them till they wear. Not sure how a person would go about sharpening one.

    Hey Josh I had an idea just food for thought when your squirrel hunting you could set the bait on a stump or at an angle on the tree where your arrow won’t hit the tree and put your bow target as a backstop so all the arrow hits is the squirrel and the target maybe save some money on those dang high dollar broadheads

    • @TheWaterSwatters
      @TheWaterSwatters  Рік тому

      I actually did try that and it would've worked if I'd stuck with it. The squirrels wouldn't come down the tree with the target sitting there. So I left it hoping they would get use to it and checked on it a couple days later. Lol they got use to it alright, they had started chewing into ribbons. I took it up.
      You're right though I probably should put it back. An old bow target isn't worth half as much as new broadheads!
