Ok, but now check out the simplified lore of Doom I found. First comes the story of a guy (probably a Blazkowicz) who punches his CO for ordering him to fire against civilians and gets sent to Mars as punishment, where he's bored out of his mind, guarding UAC scientist and the like. One day, Phobos, one of the moons sends a distress signal and they send Doomguy with a team to investigate. He's left outside to guard the entrance, meanwhile everyone else gets butchered inside until the message "send help..." Is sent. At this point Doomguy enters the facility and Doom 1 begins. In this mission, Doomguy manages to kill a Tyrant Cyberdemon at the tower of Babel and later kills the Mastermind behind the invation: The Spider mastermind. Now, here it gets a little confusing, because he doesn't return to Earth directly after this, but goes to the events of Thy flesh consumed, where he kills either another or a resurrected Mastermind. After its death, Doomguy steps on the portal to escape Hell, but a hidden sigil placed there by Baphomet (the Icon of sin) sends Doom guy to deeper places in Hell, seemingly to keep him occupied while the invasion of Earth happens. Once he manages to get out, Doom 2 starts, where most of Earth population has died, including his pet rabbit Daisy and only Doomguy remains on Earth to close the main portal from Hell whose gatekeeper is the Icon of sin. This marks their first encounter. The Icon is killed and Doom 2 ends, then comes No rest for the living, then TNT and finally Plutonia. After that is the start of Doom 64 where at the end, Doomguy decides to stay in Hell to prevent them from ever conquering the mortal world again. It's important to know he has severe PTSD by this point. Supposedly this is where many wads take place, with Doomguy jumping from world to world in an effort to stop Hell, who in turn starts fearing him, it also begins breaking Doomguy to the point of madness until killing demons is all that's left of him. Now, the Sentinels talk about the creation of their world, not the universe. After a spear penetrates their planet from side to side, a group of unknown entities burst out and create life. By seemingly magic, they cause various beasts and animals to grow to enormous sizes. Keep into account that no one here is demonic by nature, neither the Wraiths nor the Titans of Argent D'nur. Wraith magic also creates man and they quickly evolve to the point of challenging the Titans to claim the planet for themselves. They create the Argenta society, build castles, sword, spear, etc. and name the first ruler: King Ormero. Their civilizations prospers and generations later they get visied by the Maykrs who are seemingly impressed by the Sentinels and their culture. Thanks to Maykrs the Argenta makes a huge technological and spiritual leap forward to the point where they create starships and master intergalactic travel thanks to both magic and science which ends up with the Sentinel society looking at them as gods. Due to this and the Maykrs' teachings they set out to numerous other planets and dimensions to conquer and spread the Maykr word including Earth, thus religion as we know it starts. Centuries pass or even longer when suddenly a stranger appears outside Sentinel Prime's castle gates, this stranger is Doomguy who has been fighting hell for an extremely long time, possibly centuries or even a thousand years. He gets taken to the arenas where he defeats several men while being injured and is allowed to enter the Sentinel frontlines. As this happens, the Kahn Maykr set others to learn his tongue and it's here where she learns about Hell. Not long after while seeking revenge against Doomguy, Hell invades Argent D'nur which marks their first encounter with demons. Both Sentinels and Maykrs are on a loss for words as the Hell dimension is an extremely powerful foe that neither of them can contain nor understand save one and that is Doomguy. The unholy crusades start and numerous wars are waged against Hell where they get the upper hand at each turn until the priests manage to capture a few demons, this is where they learn Hell magic and mix it with Wraith's, this creates Argent energy. Still, Hell is still too powerful for them, but while many are killed, only Doomguy remains. A Maykr (Samur, the Seraphim) sees this and for reasons unknown places Doomguy inside the Divinity machine, essentially making him a god and thus the Doom Slayer is born. He takes out the Titan and Argent starts gaining the upper hand against Hell. Unknown to them, Kahn Maykr visits the Dark Lord of Hell and makes a deal with him. Years before the Maykrs met the Sentinels, the Father (seemingly god) goes missing, taken by Samur and due to this the Maykrs cannot reach reincarnation, making them mortal. That is until Argent energy is created. The Kahn notices that with Argent, her life span increases considerably and thus seeks to attain more in order to avoid death. Hell magic comes from demons themselves, their very being which is fed by Hell itself with mortal souls. Due to this the deal the Kahn made with the Dark lord of Hell was for her to gain unlimited access to Argent energy in exchange of giving Hell numerous planets and realities for them to consume. A civil war occurs once the Sentinels discover Argent is made from their souls and their society is divided. Those that follow themselves and freedom of Argent and those who follow the Maykr. The betrayal takes place, the Sentinels are killed, the resurrected Icon of sin enter the fight and is defeated again by Doomguy. This is why we find him dormant in D2016 with his being still attached to Valen's son's sould. After this, only Doomguy (now Doom Slayer) is left as he continues to fight against Hell for eons to no end. Then he gets entombed and the events of DOOM 2016 happen. Note that Earth and the UAC from D2016 isn't the same as the one from the original games, but another one from an alternate universe and/or timeline, where the one constant is Doomguy. Now, Hell is stated to be connected or be able to create connections to other dimensions, timelines and realities and it is kept still in a singular dimensional space inverse of Urdak. Hell is also infinite, so maybe the events of Doom 3 happened in a completely different reality but with the exact same Hell. Remember that there are different breeds of demons, as well as different lords and liutenants such as Betruger/Maledict. Still, Doomguy seems to have literally ripped himself apart from space and time, thus making him a universal constant in different realities and timelines and he's been all over the place, completely unaffected by neither space nor time, which is why the Icon reality bending effect didn't affect him. Some things to consider about Hell is that the reason they so badly want to consume the mortal world by a single planet, is because once they succeed, the Hell gateway gets exponentially larger, the holdings against them are broken, allowing Hell to consume that entire universe as they have done many others. Another thing to notice is that the tower where Doom guy first battled the Tyrant breed (The tower of Babel) is located at the very center of what is now the city of Nekravol, so basically the ancient tower was changed into a soul industrial complex and the city of Nekravol was built around it with the aid of Sentinel slaves and under the rule of both the Dark lord of Hell and the Kahn Maykr. Pretty cool right?
