I know this video series is old - but I’ve only now discovered it, and it’s awesome!! I hope you understand just how many boaters you’ve helped fix their own problems with this. I’ve owned a number of old boats and am accustomed to doing my own work, but I’ve never had the confidence to tackle some bigger jobs because of all the unknowns. You’ve shown me what I can expect to face and what I can do about the inevitable hiccups when they do happen. Cheers!
I am glad you find it useful. I think the reason this series has stayed popular is because it is still relevant. I have half the mind to remaster the original footage and really edit it down into an official series.
Here's a trick you should've used drilling into the transom. Make the hole a couple of millimeters too wide and too deep. Fill the hole with a thickened epoxy. Let it cure. Then drill the right size hole for the screw in the epoxy. Not too small because the epoxy is very hard (same as drilling a screw hole in hard wood). This way no water will ever come into contact with your wood.
Thanks for sharing! I'm installing mine on my Crowline 202 the weekend of May 12. Awesome how to, you answered a lot of the questions I was having. I'm glad you were apprehensive about drilling through your hull... me too! Thanks! - Mark
Any time you add weight to your boat it will make it handle differently. You can compensate by adding weight to the front or distributing your load better.
I watched the video without sound. But still learned a lot. My question is in regards to the weight capacity. Did you mention how much weight it would hold? Thanks
The wife picked it out, and I was worried about it also. Even my hip 12 year old son was skeptical. My wife is an artist, and she knows what looks good, and she was right. Thanks for the compliment.
Thanks for sharing. The boat came out great and makes me feel confident I can install myself. Swimplatforms.com should pay you for advertising. When I buy mine I will mention your video. Maybe they will cut you some cheddar. Haha.
I've been contemplating buying one of these swim platforms for my 98 SeaRay 210 but was alarmed by one of your next videos (of your trim tab installation) in which you said the swim platform changed the handling of your boat due to all of the weight in the rear. Since you were already planning on installing trim tabs before you started on the swim platform, is the trim tabs something you could have done without? Does it affect handling to the point where you feel trim tabs are necessary?
New to boat owning, my main question was answered, can I put a platform on a stern drive, but I also want to know dose your trim touch the platform lifted all the way
I have an 86 Sunrunner and looking for a full platform for it any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. I watch all the videos I learned a lot thank you..
anti seize is for stainless bolts and nuts. this material wants to sort of mechanically bite each other making it very hard to loosen once it's tightened. (most of the times this results in breaking the bolt when trying to loosen it up) for what I know it has nothing to do with salt water. like I said: "it MECHANICALLY bites each other"
I like everything in this video.. nice quality, nice weather... nice pace. and yes you are right, lovely wife too! :) please ignore my youtube name. I meant it in an orderly way :-)
I would have seen if I could get rubber washers between the platform and where the bolt meets the platform, with a metal washer on the outside of the rubber one.

That completely changed the look of that boat. Awesome.....
Great video. Can it fit a Bayliner 2855 #FlybyYacht ?

I had worries about adding one myself.... but it's not as hard as I thought...thanks to your vid!!! job well done
Beautiful. I have a similar sized boat. Looking for something like this. Can you tell me the Width and Depth of the swim platform?
The wife picked it out, and I was worried about it also. Even my hip 12 year old son was skeptical. My wife is an artist, and she knows what looks good, and she was right.

AKA "galling". It's sometimes called an anti-galling compound.
That looks absolutely amazing mine will be here today I hope mine turns out as well as yours did.
If you still have the boat, how do you like the platform. Would you have installed it if you could do it again?
Looks good !! Love the hydro turf ! My favorite colors ! Lol
Awesome job as always Jay, thanks for sharing it with us!

Great job and detail explanation
Hi great videos where is the best place to buy the supports?
thx
So does this mean your drive can't go all the way up anymore?
Hello, what company made that platform, could you send me the company information please.
Ok why did you sell the boat after all that work???
Awesome vid......u got one cool dad !!!!
Frisco Boater how many tubes of 5200 did you use for this project?
I lost count. Seriously.
I would have seen if I could get rubber washers between the platform and where the bolt meets the platform, with a metal washer on the outside of the rubber one.
Thanks for your comment. That would have allowed it to flex and would have been a very bad thing. It needs to be rigid for strength.
The previous owner would probably pass out if he saw this boat now. Subs, mids, tweets, and amps next??
looks really good!!!! have fun!!!
No... It goes all the way with space to spare.
Yes, it will hold 600 pounds.
I thought his wife was the bold guy... lolol
Nice job
Damn that looks good
great video.
Good job
Friscoboater: Your Wife is Beautiful & Has a Beautiful Name LISA 🚤🚤🚤
My lovely wife made the pattern and then we cut it out ourselves.
sharp looking to
FIRST!
No matter how I look at it , I can not justify the cost. $2,000.00 for an additional 18 inches.
I still can't believe you sold this boat. What the fuck was the point of all of this work ?
