It's not even about "think". Look at norway for example, lowest re-offence rate of all. they REHABILITATE inmates. America PUNISHES them and they are failing miserably with reoffence rates. It's sad how few people accept cold dead fact's like this. It's in the numbers, you just have to be willing to look at them. (this is not directed towards you, just a response with my thoughts :) )

I can’t even fathom seeing an older lady having to take care of themselves or worse being treated poorly. That stinks. Thank You again Jessica for educating us all. 💜
My father was very brutally murdered 44 years ago. The murderer is still in prison. He is 72 years old, now in medium security. Being completely honest part of me wants humane treatment provided to prisoners but another part of me wants my father’s murderer to be miserable in prison with as much lack of humanity as possible. That’s just being honest that’s just how I feel even after all these years.
Just wanted to say how much I love your channel! As a hospice social worker, hearing you talk about the older adults in prison broke my heart. if you compare prison's in Chile, Colombia, Turkey, Russia etc, Canadian prison's are like a hotel and shouldn't be like a hotel b/c all those people are there for a valid reasons
My parents did that "not even be allowed turn off the lights" thing. I was 8 or 9 at the time, did some stupid shit, and for 8 weeks, they literally took away everything from me. All my toys, my pencils, my paper to draw on, I wasn't allowed to watch TV or anything, I wasn't allowed to meet my friends, I wasn't allowed to use any kind of electrical equipment, not even the light switches, I could only leave my room to eat, shower and go to the toilet and to go to school... And tbh? As shitty as that was, it wasn't close to being the worst they ever did to me.
Hi Jessica! I'm a new subscriber and I love your videos 😊 can you talk about some of the stories you were told by lifers or some of the experiences you had with them?
I worked in a county jail breakfast was at 4am but I was always nice and turned the lights off until the next shift and sometimes they leave it off longer. Sometimes others didn’t care and would leave them on despite them asking nicely to turn them off. For me it was little things like that if you aren’t being rude bothering me or others I will help you out it’s important to be fair but not everyone had that same idea...
When I heard about the way they did mackeral it made me cry. I live right by the ocean and fish them during the summer. When they are prepared correctly they are beautiful fish And so tasty 😭
I work in healthcare oncology (cancer ward). We occasionally had older patients from prisons come in. And per state law they had to be restrained to the bed. It always broke my heart to see frail geriatric patients restrained at all. A lot of the time they can’t even walking or even eat without assistance where are they going to go. I just think it’s not necessary but because they are prisoners they have to be hogtied apparently.
Clearly the point of all the rules is to see if you're capable of following the rules, which appears to be a big big problem for a lot of the people in prison, which is probably related to how they got into prison in the first place.
It Oklahoma prison we had "mystery meat" it looked like lunchmeat but it was two tone grey and brown and we called it mystery meat cause no one knew what the hell it was. We also had shit on a shingle. It was a piece of toast with some kind of gravy. I ate a lot of ramen chili flavor was my favorite and I would get jalapenos from the mexican to spice it up. I would also trade a pack of smokes for a couple fat ham sandwiches with cheese, lettuce, onion, and miracle whip from a kitchen worker. I also got a dozen raw eggs to drink each day to help with my working out and needing extra protien. I remember this one guy in with two life sentences. This was when in Oklahoma life sentence used to be 45 years. He had completed one life sentence and was on the second. He was one of the nicest men I ever met! He had married a girl who cheated on him when he was 18 he murdered them both when he found them in bed together. He would do laps outside in 100 degree weather with trash bags on to hold the heat in. He was very religious and was trying to better his health to maybe one day get out before he died.
Cooking grits is really easy actually :) You just need to mix the grits into warm milk with cinnamon and sugar and let it cook so you have a nice consistency, here in Germany you can even buy them premade in little cups, they're so nice! :)
Kayla Marie don’t feel alone!! But I can only eat grits, I can’t get past the texture of oatmeal or cream of wheat, just the texture of them are not going down
As far as the elderly go I just feel so differently about this. I’m not saying people deserve to be treated poorly, but I read some of these elderly people’s crime versions and some of the sickest saddest things I’ve read were of the older groups when I worked in a max security prison. Again I’m not saying they deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest everyday but they are there for a reason.
I've been detained not convicted(they couldn't make anything stick😁). I speak with people who've never been locked up. They think everyone in jail is a bad person. I ask them if I'm a bad person, they say no. Then I let them know I've been locked up also. They are astonished.
stoked to have found this channel. true shit... my 1st infraction was 7 days iso for cleaning the floor with a pad. at the time i was like is this a joke?
I don't think that I would have been able to endure the dehumanization and lack of dignity showed to inmates. Being stripped of everything, even simple things like placing a sock over my eyes, would push me over the edge. I can see why this would create psychological problems in inmates. How will this prepare them for reentry into society?
I get that prison is meant to be bad because you did a crime HOWEVER dont you think some compassion even something as simple as leaving the lights off until 8am would reduce so many fights and hostility because think about it, when you're tired you're not your best. You buy grits in a box directions on the side. It’s literally water and put in the microwave then while it’s hot add what you like it in I put butter and bacon.
if you compare prison's in Chile, Colombia, Turkey, Russia etc, Canadian prison's are like a hotel and shouldn't be like a hotel b/c all those people are there for a valid reasons
Thx for sharing that re the elders. Fucking hell that is heartbreaking. So sorry to hear what people are dealing with.
*You should make shirts that say "Resident of the Kentitentiary" lol*
I am watching the whole ad so you get that money girl ❤️
US prisoners seem to be treated like animals... how sad. If you want to understand a society, take a look at how it deals with its criminals...
People don’t understand why I usually prefer the lights off lol because I have the choice to leave them off.
Chicago is in the house 🏠 On the south side we ride🙌 keep that real spill 💯 👀 👌 coming
I’ve gotten a long with older people more as well
Clearly the point of all the rules is to see if you're capable of following the rules, which appears to be a big big problem for a lot of the people in prison, which is probably related to how they got into prison in the first place.
To make good grits just sub milk or cream for water. Buy the instant grits from the store.
Hey Jessica! Sending Love from MN💜
HEY BEAUTIFUL LADY... THANKS FOR ANOTHER VIDEO..MUCH LOVE FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD...IRISH DEB ..XXX
Cooking grits is really easy actually :)
You just need to mix the grits into warm milk with cinnamon and sugar and let it cook so you have a nice consistency, here in Germany you can even buy them premade in little cups, they're so nice! :)
Cream of wheat is amazing, but grits HELLLL NOOO😂😂 ive got texture issues tho, can't eat oatmeal either lbvs
Kayla Marie don’t feel alone!! But I can only eat grits, I can’t get past the texture of oatmeal or cream of wheat, just the texture of them are not going down
@@linnyroro3177 Lol! Isnt it crazy how textures can just ruin foods others swear by! Lol
I don’t blame you about the light I don’t like bright lights
Low security federal prison has the best commissary. Correct me if I’m wrong.
I love your videos, Jessica! BTW you have pretty eyebrows
stoked to have found this channel. true shit... my 1st infraction was 7 days iso for cleaning the floor with a pad. at the time i was like is this a joke?
I don't think that I would have been able to endure the dehumanization and lack of dignity showed to inmates. Being stripped of everything, even simple things like placing a sock over my eyes, would push me over the edge. I can see why this would create psychological problems in inmates. How will this prepare them for reentry into society?
I don't get how anyone could dislike your videos
PLEASE do more prison videos!
