Thanks bro I’m from Brooklyn born and raised and proud of it. I have Caribbean parents and this feels good to me! I’ll explain. I always get the “I’m dumb” response from my cousins in the Caribbean and the UK simply because I’m part of the generation that was born in America. “Your a yankee boy you don’t know about this or that” or “you guys don’t know what it is not to have and be poor” or some dumb shit.1 not all Americans are rich and even worse if your black and from NYC I remember my lowest days growing up. And this was mainly from the Caribbean side thinking we just pick up money off the street literally. 2. Mind you everyone that did graduate from college(cause you know how it is some choose the other lifestyle) myself(John Jay) in the family graduated from an American institution. I think it’s just jealousy. 3. Physically and mentally cause geography was one of my favorites in school I can remember scoring upwards to 95 on the global regents. Physically cause I was always good and still growing in Martial arts and can learn new skills very fast. However Personally and this is a rarity with most Americans though I enjoy wearing some UK style clothing because of Flatbush like travel foxes and Clark’s. But I will always have a fresh pair of Nikes and if I choose to do so it’s my choice and represents the country of my birth, that I’m proud of. So let’s stop the hypocrisy please.

Hip hop actually derived from the dub culture in Jamaica in the late 70s and was pioneered by DJs like Kool Herc in Jamaica, Queens, where the elements of Hip-hop, including breaking, graffiti mcing and deejaying began to flourish, starting in subway stations, street parties and park jams. The dub scene benefitted from Musique Concrete in France, with Samplers and tape mechanisms from Germany and even Aftican dance and music, traditionally, which is the origin of language and vocal performance.
