    I thoroughly enjoy your playing, I think more than anyone on electric violin that I have heard. The expression you exude in visual and sound reaches and inspires me deeply. Sence, I first saw your videos I have bought 3 violins. One electric and two acoustic, and I am having the most wonderful time. You filled me with enthusiasm and drive. I am watching all of the instructional videos I can find and just playing for my own satisfaction. I have made decent progress, and I am stoked! I am in love with the sight and sound of you, and thank you for the inspiration. Sincerely, I am humbled and grateful.

    You seem like such a genuine nice person. I dont have money for a teacher or a top end. But can just afford one off amazion the cheapest electric for 100. Would that be ok. At least to just dip my toes in to see if i like it and want to pursue further

      Hello Daniel
      Thank you for your kind words.
      Please read the reviews before you buy your violin. Also keep in mind that you might need an amp to plug your electric violin in, otherwise they will sound very quiet as there is no sound chamber.
      If there is a music shop where you can buy your violin in person, it would be better as they would assist you with setting the instrument up, etc.
      I hope it goes well for you 😊
      Happy New Year!

    I was really surprised when I got my YEV by how loud it actually is for yourself when playing. You can absolutely play just for yourself without plugging it in at all and I find that really useful for practicing. Both for the convenience and because of the direct sound feedback of only the noise the strings produce. Not even an acoustic violin does that really, it's pretty unique to an electric to be able to listen to only what the strings and the bow produce without any amplification, from a body or from an amp. What you hear in all these videos is the sound of a microphone a few feet away from the instrument. Remember your ear is literally right next to the strings. You will hear it pretty loud and clear. When I have my amp on a low volume I actually find it difficult to tell if it's on at all even if someone sitting next to the amp would say it's clearly much louder from the amp. I have multiple times put the violin down and just played some open strings from a distance like an idiot to figure out how loud it actually is for other people. It's a massive difference in volume. It's almost like your own private little practice sound without an amp, I quite like it.

    I was so fascinated by e-violins and the possibility to add extra strings to them that these instrument where actually the reason why I started violin in the first place. However, with some (a little) experience I feel like there isn't a real use case for these instruments. Yes, there are many artists with electric violins, BUT I didn't hear ANY performance that wouldn't have sound better on an acoustic violin yet. Even if you want a silent violin for practice it's just better to use a mute on your acoustic violin.

    Nice play. I have the same electric violin. I am enjoying the play and started learning now.
    But I get scratchy sound and I can hear in amplifier. How to reduce the scratchy sound. Secondly what amplifier do you use?
    And what type of transmitter and receiver do you use?
    I have Yamaha THR10Ii

      I use Roland Cube. I would recommend a lead to start with as transmitters are hit and miss. I have to have a few as a backup as none of them are faultless.
      Regarding the scratchiness- you might be putting too much pressure on your strings through your bow. Try being more delicate with the strings xx

    I really like your electric violin playing… I have YEV105 and 104. Both I feel front heavy and not comfortable to play. My acoustic violin has no issue and I can practice long time with ease. Any suggestion please. 😊

    • @BarbaraTheViolinist

      Interesting! I find my acoustic slightly more difficult to play after practicing on the electric ones for a longer time…. Especially getting good quality sound takes more effort on the acoustic than electric. I find my Yamaha much lighter than any other instrument I own…. So I don’t have any suggestions, unfortunately 😅 But I hope you will find your own way! xx

    As a beginner which one would be easy to me ? Electric or acoustic?

    • @BarbaraTheViolinist
      @BarbaraTheViolinist  2 місяці тому

      It is easier and quicker to make nice sound on electric violin (when plugged in to a speaker) than on acoustic violin. In my opinion of course :)

    Hi Barbara! I was looking for the best violin pick-up or electric violin and I was worried about transmitting the sound and what transmitter do you use that is reliable for gigs and straight to the amp without any effects?

    • @BarbaraTheViolinist
      @BarbaraTheViolinist  2 роки тому

      There’s no transmitter I can recommend that is faultless… I always have a backup of few different brands with me.
      Apart from Shure, but that’s a bulky piece of kit, for big events working alongside a DJ xx
