It's also a no-win situation because the battler on the receiving end tries to call time, then he gets the backlash because he's "scared that he's getting cooked"
Roc does his round then asks the crowd if he should keep going they said yes so he continued then he asked again and they said yes the crowd didn’t want him to stop
The issue is that whenever they interview Tay Roc and ask him about this, he says that whatever time that the contract states is a “minimum” not a limit. Which means either these contracts are f*cked, he doesn’t know how to read, or he’s intentionally spewing nonsense as an excuse for these long ass rounds.
My take: At this point, stuff like this has happened so many times in higher profile battles, that you have to anticipate it. Especially if it is against a legend like Roc, who's known to do this and can boost your career if you beat him. Clone should have wrote longer rounds, period.
@@HowNotToPlay32 there are lot of battlers in the likes of chilla Jones, real Sikh ,illmaculate jc and a lot more names they battle like professionals I've never seen them go overtime
Its weird because BR is both an entertainment industry and a competitive endeavour. Which part of that outweighs the other when is hard to navigate. Soul had a take, and iirc he thinks that a crowd reacting too much and then making you overrun is on the battler. Same as when the crowd pops a bar too early before you get to a closer/punch. Crowdwork is part of the artform, if that fucks with your performance, its on you too.
Battlers know what is going to land, I don’t think they know how crazy it’s going to be in the building until they get the reaction. It’s one of those unknowns
Would you stop the clock if someone is bringing back bars? Like if you stop the clock for crowd reaction, do you start it back after crowd stops or wait until they run their bars back?
No..long battles ruin the replay value of a battle. It’s not even the rappers fault. It’s the league owners fault for not following their own rules that they set in a contract. They just need to be more strict with the time limit and really keep track of that.
It’s 50/50. More of the fault of the artist. The way i time my rounds ensure that i will NEVER go wildly over the limit. You can’t rap a 5 minute round if you don’t write a 5 minute round lol
I agree. It's their fault the first time to try and "break" the contract. After that, it's on the league owners. Stopping for reaction is one thing, but at a certain point, call time. It really does feel like "I can't beat you without barring you to death."
I care about the time as a fan, but I definitely can't fault someone for having a 4 minute round, but the crowd making them go over. It's a slippery slope. Idk if fewer battles a night would help the venue problem.
How tf does a 4-minute round turn into 15 that's insane. Fair point, it's not his fault for getting a lot of crowd reaction, although I do think there's a skill in knowing how far to run your material back so you don't give the viewer that 'when is he gonna stop' thought. Illmac's talked about it on RYD, that he had to learn to find a sweet spot I also think your suggestion's pretty interesting, this is something I've heard suggested in smash bros as well - take out time limits for the top players and then see how long fans put up with someone stalling indefinitely
At the end of the day it’s the league who is responsible to enforce the contract. Now Roc can risk losing for going overtime due to losing steam. It is what it is tho
Saying someone won because of longer rounds is like another person winning because of crowd reaction. It's quality vs. quality. If you're focused on the length of the round, you're distracted, and it took you out of the performance. When I look at the superhero feats that are performed in the later Fast and Furious movies. I am taken out of the experience and am now distracted by the spectacle.
Some of the best bars in battlerap history came after the time limit was over Tell me im lying!!!! ( going more than a minute or 2 over is wild though )
sadly time limits are only respected in tournaments but somehow Roc can continuously go over time limits and get to win enough to be champion of the year .
Bro. Check out Head ice first round vs Ave. bro that shit was like 20 minutes. That was URL. I saw that as a sign of disrespect to ave allowing someone to rap that long on a big card
Too much crying in my day who ever ran out of bars first loss .. Charlie clips gave rock his only clear loss cuz he rapped forever roc learned from that so everyone learn from roc
I know of one, lets say, dinosaur named Battle Rapper who will NOT stand for anything over the grace period......they try to get away with it.....but they aint get AWAY with it 😂😂😂😂😂
The time limit is for what the league is paying for. They are paying for 3 full written rounds of a specified time allocation. If a rapper chooses to do more work than they are paying for, they are happy for the extra footage.
Time limits need to respect because time limits show who is truly, I mean TRULY the best MC. If you are given 3 mins to rhyme your best craft verse and you can't do it that means you don't capacity to so, just like the rappers who rhyme for a min and a half and ain't got nuffink after that. Simple, you lack capacity.
Sound like alot of people complain about something that everybody can do if the league owners isnt stopping or the actual other rapper then who cares🤷🏾♂️when mook did it he still lost to verb anyway
Your round vs charron says that's how you stay on TIME 💯💯👊
At this point who cares you have people no showing choking and we complain about Roc. If you battling Roc clip up
What’s wild is i agree with this more than anything. Battling Roc is special. If you’re not at least rapping for 4 minutes, you’re dumb 😂
Fact. He’s been doing this for so long, if you aren’t prepared then you lost already
Don't battlers roc if you don't have 4 rounds or a clip full!!!
They haven’t had a stop watch and cutting times since Grind Time lol
Lies
It's also a no-win situation because the battler on the receiving end tries to call time, then he gets the backlash because he's "scared that he's getting cooked"
🎯
“Omg, when is this round gonna end? Like when is Tay Roc gonna stop rapping”😂🤣😭
😭😭
@@iamMikeP Shit took me out dude!! Facts plus tax tho!
@@iamMikeP Real talk tho Mike, we need that coast contra breakdown/history mannnnnnn.💯🔥😮💨
Agree to disagree...Time limits are NEEDED
I 100% agree! I was sarcastic when i said let’s all rap 6 minutes. That’s not the road i want us to head down
Roc does his round then asks the crowd if he should keep going they said yes so he continued then he asked again and they said yes the crowd didn’t want him to stop
Fire editing Mike 💪🏾

Mike P becoming my favorite battle rapper media over froze quick 😂

Dope topic. Keep speaking on these. We need levity
Mike p ,bigg k nd a ward they're always battling on time
Who else?
@@HowNotToPlay32 there are lot of battlers in the likes of chilla Jones, real Sikh ,illmaculate jc and a lot more names they battle like professionals I've never seen them go overtime
Should have timed clone to see how long his material was in comparison. That should show how far over he went.

See this is another reason why I like small room battles waaaay more

We need to normalize having officially timed and judged battles
eh lol
Hey Mike wats up I just Subbed nice content
Thank you, Randy !
clone rapped a longer 2nd and 3rd but not as much crowd reaction so it looked a way

When you rap as good as roc you can rap as long as you want💯

I think the time would only work with no crowd battles.

Lmfaooooooooooo @ mook and party arty

Grind time used to time battles. And cut battlers off. Early KOTD days too.

Mike that's a sick PC, that battle rap money did come in handy huh
Actually no! I won a COD championship last year and Sik PCs became my sponsor. This is my custom build they made for me 🙏
20 mins is crazy

Blame the leagues...
Rock can so what he wants ol stool no time just rapp
Roc killed a lot of good battles replayability. Which is sad tbh

“Dinosaur named battle rapper” is insane 😆
Don’t battle roc if you looking for a battle with 3 minutes rounds. We actually want to hear him rap. When roc gone y’all gone be sick.
Who cares who wins at this point. People get paid regardless. Battlerap is hard to take serious anyways
The time limit is for what the league is paying for. They are paying for 3 full written rounds of a specified time allocation. If a rapper chooses to do more work than they are paying for, they are happy for the extra footage.
I bet you of Roc rap for 3 minutes or less and do not run it back people will also complain.
He right but roc the goat 3-0 atleast it ain’t 15 min of bullshit 😂😂😂

No competitive integrity
Yay roc looking bad

They used to call it gas back in the day. This ain't by mistake anymore... Roc just has god tier crowd control.
Bro roc has given us like 10 battles this past year and is having 20 minute of performance for his first round??? Dude is phenomenal
When people start suing over breach of contract, then what? I say do it....
