In his book where Vasco Da Gama mentions about his whole journey and according to his documentation, Vasco Da Gama meets a Gujrati merchant in Africa Vasco Da Gama had the biggest ship in the whole of Europe at that time…. and he mentions that this merchant had 3 ships 12 times the size of his ship….. and mind you these were merchant ships not some sort of Warships….. with their company and help Vasco Da Gama came to India.
The Europeans in those times used to sail keeping the land in sight and never went beyond that deliberately, unless searching for new lands. Vasco sailed along the African coast and reached Zanjibar which was a rich merchant’s stop for Indian, Arabian, Chinese and merchants of nearby countries. People there were surprised at Vasco’s presence and sought his purpose. When he told his intentions of finding sea route to India, the locals took him to a Gujarat merchant Kanhabhai, who was sailing back to India with his ships soon after. Kanhabhai was amused to see Vasco’s curious looks and promised to sail him to India in a week.
Vasco’s ship sailed escorted by Kanha and other Indian merchants’ ships across the Arabian Sea. Kanha had also given him a navigator who used compass (called Matsya Yantra then, compass was not known to the European sailors in those times!).

Infact I would encourage them to have some specific guidance for up and coming navigators - there is literally no guide if a youngster today wants to get into this field, including boat building. All the shipping and cargo is now a well hidden knowledge by some conglomerates.

The flood mentioned in the Matsya Purana doesn't mention about Noah but it mentions about Saptarishis or 7 Sages being pulled on a Ship by the Matsya Avatar or the Fish Avatar of Lord Vishnu. They eventually end up near the Malaya Mountains in the South which was ruled by Shraddhadeva Manu the King of the Dravida Kingdom, the origin of the Suryavanshi Dynasty. The Sumerians themselves have their 7 Sages named Apkallu. Ap in Sumerian means Water. Even in Sanskrit Ap means Water.

All sounds good. This work needs to be vetted professionally. 90% percent of Indians cannot even swim. There are more records of Chinese vessels visiting shores of Malabar than that of Indians. Where were these large ships built? Which part of India? How come the Samorin of Calicut was defenseless when Vasco attacked, considering the fact that Vasco was in awe of the might of the Indians? I agree with the Tsunami part of the presentation, dwaraka, Sangam era, mahabalipuran etc. How come Vaa Uuu Cee, V.U. Chidambaram is celebrated as the only guy who navigated the seas among Tamilians, if we had such a glorious Naval Past? That said I sincerely appreciate the zeal with which they carried out their research and the hard work that has gone into it. Humble pranams to both.
