I used to dismiss Herrick Lake as a mud hole full of carp and bullheads. Then in the last few years I started hearing stories of decent bass and some large northerns, as in 40" or so. This year I decided to fish it more seriously if I had some time to kill and actually pulled a few nice bass!. No northerns yet, but a few years ago I was walking around the lake in the winter and there were quite a few dead in the ice, some pushing 24" or so. I'll have to hit it up in the fall and see what happens...
Northern pike are not stocked there, they are however at Blackwell. As for all forest preserve lakes they are so dam pressured and that makes them tough!
