I lost my wife July 2019. dementia and stage 4 kidney failure. I know what you're going through brother and it hurts so bad.Istill miss her every single day. Without her i just slowly wilt and die. PRAYERS FOR YOU and your family. Take care
WOW! To have experienced that kind of love between you...hang in there and hold onto that memory of such a love! You’ll reunite again someday but you’ve got to live now; and she’ll be with you as you do! God Bless!
I am a boomer. I've listened to nothing but the oldies I grew up with. By chance I heard this song and Shine by Soul Asylum. The two best songs I've heard in many, many years.
To anyone thinking of ending their life, give yourself one more day... and another, and then another until you’ll never think of ending your life again. Life is too precious for you to give it up easily. There’s more to it than you think. Enjoy life. Live life.
To all those who have lost a child, this song has much meaning. My son was a runaway at 14 . The next time i saw him he was murdered. Its been 27 years since he went back to heaven. And i still cry every year on his anniversary and bday.
Everybody has a soundtrack to their life. A song that rockets you to a certain time or place. I was buying cookies from a merchant at our local scarecrow festival yesterday. A musician nearby start singing an acoustic version of this song and I was suddenly in high school again. I had just bought this CD and put it into my portable CD player connected to my car radio by a cassette adapter. Then, I headed off to deliver flowers for my mom's flower shop. This song hit like a ton of bricks the moment it came on. It seemed like everyone around me was so put-together. They were doing well in school, knew their college direction, knew what they wanted to do when they grew up. I didn't have any of that figured out. I repeated the song over and over again as the addresses for my deliveries grew harder to read. I can still picture the neighborhood that I was driving around in. Now, both of my parents are gone. I still feel lost. I wish I could go back to that time and enjoy those moments that are gone forever.
Bro, count your blessings...even if it's just one...at least you're alive,! If you want your loved ones in heaven to rest in peace, then Live For ThemI lost most of my family to tragic circumstances beyond belief and I made a vowel that I am going to live every single day in gratitude...for them. CHERISH THE LOVE.
To my beautiful mother who passed away July 11, 2021. The strongest woman I have ever met. May you rest in eternal peace with Daddy. I love you with all my 💜 🦋
This song... I have been there. It's a miracle I made it out of that kind of despair. It's a very crushing and heavy feeling. My heart hurts for those who have been in or are still in that type of pain. You're not alone.
When this song came out, I was young, happy, strong - I had a vibrant family, a huge social life, and a love life that just wouldn't quit. For me, at the time, the song had no meaning. It went by almost unnoticed, especially since I'm more of a metal fan. I never would've thought that some 30-odd years later - I would be totally alone with no one left but my mother. My friends are gone. I've been single now for 21 years. There are few things worse than being alone and disabled, a life where your future will comprise of nothing but pain, poverty, and loneliness. A phone that never rings. A doorbell that never dings. Knowing that you will die alone and 4 generations of family photos will end up in the trash. The only people left to talk to are those that will listen to you only if you pay them - in a country that considers disabled people "useless eaters." In a country whose health care system is already broken beyond repair, but whose mental health care is practically non-existent because of that idiot "machismo" - there's no depression, you just have a touch of the blues! This song has far more meaning to me toward the end of my life than it ever did at the beginning
And prayers ... heh. Everyone wants to send prayers. Prayers do nothing. Prayers assume the existence of some higher power to hear them. I figure that if there is a higher power (I don't believe in nonsense gods like Yahweh) ... but if there is some kind of higher power, it either wants me miserable, can't do anything to change it, or doesn't care. So I have three choices - a malicious and sadistic higher power, an incompetent and powerless higher power, or an apathetic and sociopathic higher power. Well... no thanks. Besides, it's a lot easier to accept one's sorrows knowing there isn't an intelligence behind their existence, to know some sicko god isn't destroying your life for the sheer glee of it, to know that there is no one to blame, no one to shake my fist at, no one to beg and plead with always asking, "Why? Why? What did I do?" Things don't always happen for a "reason" ... however everything has a cause. Those are two very different things ... because I don't believe everything happens for a reason, but things can just happen.
I read all you wrote. You're crying out loud. I hear you. You're not here by accident. I don't have the same story as you but I sure have felt lonely a lot in my life. Like no one understood or could relate. I know you said you don't believe in nonsense gods like Yahweh. I've certainly had my struggles with believing. But I'm slowly learning of Jesus and His love. It's not easy, it is a journey, and I still have some heartbreaking, difficult things to navigate. But there is hope. And this isn't all there is. I encourage you to seek out some strong, mature Christians to love you. They're out there. I hope this helps you in some way.
Something has kept you here friend. I feel your pain believe me. A lot of people don't understand depression, hoplessness and addiction. This song resonates with me completely. I'm sure you've heard these words before as have I countless times but they fall on your own deaf ears until just that one time a spark ignites in you. you are worth a lot but you must start to believe that. You have to go and talk to a professional or go to a group setting with people in your position and spill your guts. What have you got to lose friend. It's worth a shot. I'm not saying it's an elixir but you just never know when a light will shine on you. You are still here so as long as you are please don't suffer alone. There are thousands if not millions of disinfranchised folk that know your thoughts and feel lost in the void. Do yourself a favour and seek out help and connections. you need meaning in your life and something to ignite a passion weather that's something internal or external. I believe in you even if you don't believe in yourself. I love you and I know in a few steps you can change your perspective. Forget about everyone and their perceptions about you and take the reigns. Nothing in life is easy whilst it strapped in your maddening thoughts. Release yourself and positive things will enlighten you. like I said seek out a group who feel like you and between yous you can work out a path forward. You don't have to change the world you just have to change your mindset and start living. When you do which you will others will benefit in turn helping you cathartically. I believe in you. Open that lock in your mind and fight my friend. You are a lot stronger than you think because if you weren't you'd not have stuck around. Please reply to me when you start your process of self enlightenment. Now is a new start and I know you can find meaning and happiness. please make that change.
I dedicate this to myself. I've known this song since I was a kid, understood the meaning a few years ago and then May this year, it *really* meant something to *me* for what I've experienced. I want to get away from here and start over. Away from everything I've ever known and my problems. It hurts, it really does. I'm trying to hold on but it's hard. I want to know what the future holds and see if it gets better. But I doubt it. I feel for those who have suffered through something much worse. I hope it gets better for you. To those who have suffered through a lot in silence, I wish you good physical + mental health.
Allow me to say this - PAIN is what the world does to you - SUFFERING is what you do to yourself - PAIN in life is inevitable but SUFFERING is not - do NOT focus on how hard life is but learn to embrace the lessons that life offers - a happy person is not someone in a certain set of circumstances but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes - now tomorrow when you wake up go out & kick life's ass.
This song hit me right in the feels, and I'm still on the ground. I've been dealing with increasing depression over several years, and only very recently did it get so bad that I scraped all the motivation I could to get help... and it has gotten better. Some days are so good, I forget what that dark time felt like and its enough to bring me to tears just out of relief. Cue this song coming on the radio yesterday. I'm a Gen-X, I've heard the song a million times... but not really, as it turns out. It spoke to me and I thought, 'Yes! That's it exactly!' After looking at the lyrics by themselves, then learning that he wrote it about his own depression... well, it all clicked. Help is out there, my friends.
Songs like this I’ll absolutely listen to over and over, this is the type of country I like, but I’m not a country person at all myself, I don’t mind it but songs like this, this will get me into listening to country songs that have tunes like this!
I have always been a Metal...Hard Rock...Classic Rock type......But this song has always a place in my heart for some reason and i just love the words.
To my best friend, my life, my lover of 47½ yrs who I lost in Feb of 2020 to brain cancer. 😢 I'll never stop grieving for you. Always in my heart, I'll love you til my days are done here on earth. I can't wait to be with you again. Forever yours....
Lost the love of my life in 2007, and cant get over it...there will NEVER be another HIM...Part of me feels so dead, since its like going thru the motions of living but feel nothing but hurt and loss, i wasnt supposed to be doing this life without him
This song haunted me for years. It was playing on the radio when I had to help my mum leave my father and family home after an incident that changed my childhood forever. I finally played it today and didn't cry like used to be the case. It certainly was a magnum opus of its time. I still remember the plea at the end of the Official Video when the lead singer implores the public to reach out if they've seen or know those young people who were still listed as Missing. I remember that the band copped flack at the time for allegedly not receiving the permission of the lost young people's relatives to use their pictures, or something of the like. What a beautiful and yet melancholic and even tragic anthem from the early 1990s. Peace and love to all.
Now maybe you will be able to make new memories. Always remember this if you remember nothing anyone has ever said please remember this my friend. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can come together. Keep your chin up and thanks for sharing your story. May you be blessed.
@KeweKrypto 12 do I really have to say this? I guess so... I wasn't talking about missing kids being great memories. I was talking about my own life and the memories I have from when this song 1st came out. I'm sure normal people knew what I meant but now days we have to explain everything we say so we dont offend anyone. Also, if you do some research, the dude that wrote the song was writing about his own depression and not missing kid's. Ok im done... 😜✌
Who ever said that you have to be in the same mood as the song you are listening to? I find this rather odd. You also dont look at a painting of Van Gogh & start to become suicidal & wanting to cut your ear of, do you? lol Many people dont seem to get this. But its about the artist expressing himself. Just like actors dont have to be depressed to play a certain role, good musicians can also display & emulate a certain emotion & sell it to the listener. And we as the people decide how authentic that emotion comes across. And sure we can relate to music better if we are in the same mood, since its an universal language but its not about the listener. Like I said. I hope that makes sense
what a best-ever song with pretty good lyrics. i still have a cassette tape of this song bought 25 years ago. runaway train just like a life that never coming back 😄👍
I lost my father to brain cancer on sept 24th at the age of 58. It has been a real struggle. I was a deputy sheriff but i put that on the back burner to come back up north to help take care of him b4 he passed. I know if i can make it back in the force he will be proud of me like he was when he saw me in my uniform
I’m sorry for your loss. I’m actually in rehab as I type this. Addiction sucks. It’s a disease that NOBODY ever thinks will happen to them. We didn’t wake up one morning and say”lets become someone we never thought we’d be and do stuff we never thought we’d do” I pray for you and your families healing.
@@kennybeaudrie9021 I send you peace and strength! Hold on! You are loved and you are needed in this world. One is too many and 1000 is never enough she used to tell me.
Dear Megan Smith, this video you published was a Gift to me today by a Friend named Ray. I want to THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUBLISHING THIS! I Love You, Ray! RIP Until We Meet Again... Light, Love & Peace To All! Anita
No, things will not get better, or screw it maybe. Does it matter? I think the most important thing is for humanity to stop breeding. So the last human can die, and no one else has to experience a pointless existence.
I’ve listen to this song a lot since my father died... it means a lot to me for some reason :/ This song is really speaking to me right now.. Love this song!!! Saw them in concert This song is really speaking to me right now..
This is such a great song. Brings back so many memories. It's became a bittersweet melody for me. I recently lost a cousin that was like a brother to me, and this song reminds me so much of him. I💙you Wes!
Dearest Megan. Thanks for this precious upload. Somehow this magical track managed to keep me alive. You are definitely a pure ♥ holly soul inside and out.
This song is keeping me going . when I'm hurting I just play this song and the pain goes away . I wish I would have ran away from the hell I was in maybe I wouldn't be in so much pain . God forgive me please .
Whatever you are going through or been through. I believe it will make you stronger in the end. And you will be able to use your experiences, to help others that are going through similar pain. I am going to sincerely pray for you. And if no one ever told you. God wants you to know He sees you and loves. You have value. God bless you!
My wife passed in 2017 ....but even before that , in 2014 when she first started to get ill...I began to check out , I was totally gone by the time she died...I nearly died myself taking whatever drugs was put in my face , popping whatever pills , snorting whatever....drinking and secretly hoping I wouldn't wake up and one day..bout 2019 I snapped out of it this song helped me alot
This song is about heroin addiction. That's the ultimate way to run away besides suicide. Then again addiction is just slow suicide. You either escape or die trying. 1,066 days clean from methamphetamines today. I made it out but I know plenty who never came back.
Even harder when you’ve lost 7 family members since 2019. Two from cancer, two from dementia, one from liver cirrhosis, one being shoot by police and one just when plum crazy from all he lost in so short a time. Just can’t hardly recover and mourn before the next one gone and you start the process allllll over again.
Currently listening after butchering my arm going nuts trying to kick my pain pill addiction. Day two. Leaving this as a reminder. Hope I can come back in a month and not be fucked up again.
My cousin was 16 when we lost her to human trafficking. 3 years later my brother was stationed in Iraq when he saw her with her pimp. He didn't hesatate to grab her. Her pimp pulled a gun and shot my brother. My brother shot and killed him. My cousin told the officials where the other girls were and helped 23 lady's. They all got home. We are very lucky to have both of them home and safe.
My mum loved this song she passed away march 2020 heart attack in her sleep. She suffered from a bad mental illness with voices in her head. Now i am lost without her and got depression. I listen to this song as it relates to how I feel. And probably how my mum felt. Be kind and stay safe x
I just heard this on the radio. I had to stop what i was doing and get up and DANCE. I really Love the song. Good Rythem! I dont think about the words being bad although I do sing it. I just Vibe with it. I just battled cancer hardest thing I've ever had to live through the chemo and radiation, I'm still alive and thankful God was with me all the way. It sounds like its gets in your soul, that makes me want to get up and dance and make it another day in this world I thank God everyday for my life always have. I'm 57 and I've lived a good life not always clean and sober but not a druggie or an Alky either , just livin life.
I’ve listen to this song a lot since my father died... it means a lot to me for some reason :/ This is how I feel. To my best friend JUN. Rest in Peace brother. I will be singing this song alone now an forever.
This song came out just after my brother died aged 23. It was a horrible time and my depression really kicked in. Today I woke up with this song in my head 😔

I am a boomer. I've listened to nothing but the oldies I grew up with. By chance I heard this song and Shine by Soul Asylum. The two best songs I've heard in many, many years.
Shine is one of my favorite.
Can you tell me what album that the song Shine is on, please. I am having trouble finding it.
"Can you help me remember how to smile? Make it somehow all seem worthwhile..." Felt that...
Me too. I'm made of wood.
@Sinkpehna RossFire thank you for seeing me. Blessings.

Great picture and a truly haunting and heartfelt song, one of the best rock songs ever.
To my best friend, my life, my lover of 47½ yrs who I lost in Feb of 2020 to brain cancer. 😢 I'll never stop grieving for you. Always in my heart, I'll love you til my days are done here on earth. I can't wait to be with you again. Forever yours....
Much love, peace and happiness for everyone 💛 ❤🙏🙏🙏 many blessings
Lost the love of my life in 2007, and cant get over it...there will NEVER be another HIM...Part of me feels so dead, since its like going thru the motions of living but feel nothing but hurt and loss, i wasnt supposed to be doing this life without him
This is one of my top 3 favorite songs.
Greatest song you've never heard of😍🥰
This song haunted me for years.
Strength and love gets us thru everything ♡♡♡
Prayers and Hugs.

Quarantine 2020... Bringing back such great memories with songs like this...

When times were better
@KeweKrypto 12 do I really have to say this? I guess so... I wasn't talking about missing kids being great memories. I was talking about my own life and the memories I have from when this song 1st came out. I'm sure normal people knew what I meant but now days we have to explain everything we say so we dont offend anyone. Also, if you do some research, the dude that wrote the song was writing about his own depression and not missing kid's. Ok im done... 😜✌
Am I the only one who isn’t going through any bad things in life, but just generally enjoys the song?
I think so?
Who ever said that you have to be in the same mood as the song you are listening to? I find this rather odd.
You also dont look at a painting of Van Gogh & start to become suicidal & wanting to cut your ear of, do you? lol
Many people dont seem to get this.
I hope not
Be in the moment and remember it.. it slip's away and your left in the rain. Feel the moment and embrace it. It's a gift appreciate it.
No. But you are someone who does not deserve beautiful music, because you have no empathy.
You’re literally a legend if ur listening to this in 2020 👊🏼 Have a nice day :)
2021?
I guess I'm a legend!! 2021....
Moved Back to my Home country and feeling totally lost, Like a Stranger . I Just want to buy a Ticket For the Runaway train and never Look Back
I'm texting you fromfrontlines I don't want to be on earth itself I wanna be on the other side

Is normal that every time I heard this song my eyes fills in tears??....damn..........
Yes, it is normal. I'm crying listening to it too.
Yes. This song is beautifully sad. The lyrics are that good too.
Especially if you remember the music video :(
My tearballs are falling out of my eyeballs! I saw something new today? A commercial with only WHITE people!
We really need to appreciate everything that we have in life
This song is really speaking to me right now..
Me to more ways than one
Hey. Just wondering. You doing alright now?

I lost my father to brain cancer on sept 24th at the age of 58. It has been a real struggle. I was a deputy sheriff but i put that on the back burner to come back up north to help take care of him b4 he passed. I know if i can make it back in the force he will be proud of me like he was when he saw me in my uniform
🙏🙏🙏
I lost my brother to suicide when he was 29 and today I lost my step-daughter at age 29 to heroin. This song crushed me then and now its unbearable.
I'm so sorry
So sorry for your losses. I know this life is hard and sucks sometimes. I hope you still have great memories of them both.
I’m sorry for your loss. I’m actually in rehab as I type this. Addiction sucks. It’s a disease that NOBODY ever thinks will happen to them. We didn’t wake up one morning and say”lets become someone we never thought we’d be and do stuff we never thought we’d do”
I pray for you and your families healing.
@@kennybeaudrie9021 I send you peace and strength! Hold on! You are loved and you are needed in this world. One is too many and 1000 is never enough she used to tell me.

Rightly ok don't warriors iam not thinking no ok welcome any time with you ok
Thank you.
No, things will not get better, or screw it maybe. Does it matter? I think the most important thing is for humanity to stop breeding. So the last human can die, and no one else has to experience a pointless existence.
1 year ago...means so much to me still
My life was sad.i had bad experience from my hushband
A lot of people don't realise this song wasn't about runaway children, the film clip was the directors idea. The song itself is about depression.
just read your comment DAVID-I got it-yeah-u-r right=shallow people or ignorant......foolish 2-they dont fucken respect life=I DO=@LL-LIVES#$%^MATTER
For real! It was my fav the Day it came out on the radio!!!

Great photo, great lyrics, great quality. A+++
This is such a great song. Brings back so many memories. It's became a bittersweet melody for me. I recently lost a cousin that was like a brother to me, and this song reminds me so much of him. I💙you Wes!
Thanks again Janette.
I learn not to depend on no one. And never give up. Fight the battle and be strong. Dont runaway keep trying
💓
Dearest Megan. Thanks for this precious upload. Somehow this magical track managed to keep me alive. You are definitely a pure ♥ holly soul inside and out.
This song is keeping me going . when I'm hurting I just play this song and the pain goes away . I wish I would have ran away from the hell I was in maybe I wouldn't be in so much pain . God forgive me please .
Thank so much for understanding . God bless you thank you for understanding
I love this song it hurts when your on the run from everything God help us all
It's hard to pray when you're resentful to god.. so odd we think we're in charge when it's really a mirage.
This is a great song love it
This song is about heroin addiction. That's the ultimate way to run away besides suicide. Then again addiction is just slow suicide. You either escape or die trying. 1,066 days clean from methamphetamines today. I made it out but I know plenty who never came back.
@@sobersurvivor5900 im proud of you! im sober 2 yrs from opiates. opiates, heroin , all the same. Keep it moving! awesomeness!

“ Can you help me remember how to smile “ Shame people can make other’s feel that way
This song hits you harder when you lose someone close to you 😓
Even harder when you’ve lost 7 family members since 2019.
Hope I can come back in a month and not be fucked up again.
to my brother shaun, rest in peace my brother 2013.
Rest in peace Shaun. Please remember...The Lord is with you, and you as well Barry.

Il go before you and make a way
My cousin was 16 when we lost her to human trafficking.
