- I’ve shared my full tutorial of testing calligraphy with my pointed pen on tiles from the hardware store! The outcome is beautiful and classic. It can be done by beginner and professional calligraphers, or an avid DIYer. I had to go MUCH slower than I would on paper to get the nicest lines. We all know how slow calligraphy is in the first place. But, if I went TOO slow the ink really blobbed. You’ll definitely have to find that sweet spot. I trialed several different nibs, and all worked well on the slick surface. It just depends on what look of lettering you are going for. I was most hesitant to do this project because I thought I would need to scrape all the netting of the back, but it came off so much easier! Give it a try, its not as hard as it looks and I’ve tried many shapes and ink combinations now and they all turned out lovely.

This is super cool! I was always afraid to try on tiles but you inspired me to give it a try
Sometimes a light layer of hairspray helps the ink write smooth instead of blobbing one such a glossy surface if you do try!
