Iam a very ignorant woman of God but this onething I know He can do what ever He pleases. It seems that many of us let our traditions get in the way.I see only in the word of God that He has his own elect people and because of His marvellous grace Iam one of them.
"Enter ye in at the strait gate," He said, "for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it" (Matthew 7:13, 14).
John 3:18, "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
Tim, J.I. Packer's book Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God does a good job answering your question. God's sovereignty is actually motivation to preach the gospel, because otherwise people have no ability to respond to the gospel because they're dead in their sins.
Isaiah 53:10 But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
Professions of super humility are also used in orthodox Christianity. Jesus Christ humbled Himself to obedience of death on a cross, the least we can do is aim to be as humble as we can by God's grace also.
Warning against 'another Jesus': 2 Corinthians 11:4, "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."
We must repent We must turn from our wicked ways: Luke 5:32, "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." and also Luke 13:3, "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
my point being in my previous post we cannot come to God by any other means other than through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. that is what I was saying. without Christ we are lost. without hope.
the reason i am saying this is because comments only have a certain amount of room to type things and if we were both talking together it would be much more efficient then typing comments.
, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." Some people claim that they are Christian, so that they feel they are going to heaven, but if they don't turn from their wicked lifestyle, then they aren't living up to their professed faith.
Christ died on the cross to atone for all our sins and rose again to assure our full forgiveness and justification before God. Now, anyone who really desires to be saved can receive this great salvation merely by trusting in the Lord Jesus as his personal Savior. He says: "And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely" (Revelation 2:17).
He's wrong in asserting Sovereign Election and Human Responsibility can not be explained. The Bible has a very clear answer. Human responsibility is based upon God's Sovereignty and man's knowledge of God's law. Calvinist Gordon H. Clark clears up the "mystery" with sound exegesis found in his book "Religion, Reason, And Revelation." Just because one person can't solve a mystery, doesn't mean someone else hasn't. Martin Luther gives a wonderful explanation in "The Bondage Of The Will."
Be born again We must be born again: John 3:3, "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." If you continue reading in John chapter 3 verses 14 through 21 tells you how you can become born again. Verse 16 pretty much tells you what you need to do: John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
Nah. Words aren't bad. As long as they are coupled with action there's nothing wrong with it. As long as the words aren't fueled by pride. Indeed, C.J. even goes as far as to say that if you say you are a humble person, you are prideful in saying that. He says that he is a prideful person seeking humility. But, this isn't really anything to debate about really.
ust acknowledging Jesus isn't enough: Shortly after John 3:16, it tells us in verse 21, "But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." Also, James 2:19-26 says, "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
oh by the way i am done with this discussion in comments because I feel as though the conversation in comments is not leading anywhere ...i feel as though it is more of a comment debate.....so this will be the last comment...please either contact via youtube email or skype if you want to talk about this more. Know this. Matthew 13:41-42 The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will gather out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all law-breakers, and throw them into the fiery furnace. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
only one problem with doing that---God would no longer be just if He saved everyone----for God CANNOT tolerate sin at ALL that is man's problem--sin---that is why we MUST Have a mediator to intervene on our behalf---if it were not out behalf God would have saved everyone already---but since He is perfectly Just and perfectly Holy He must punish our sins- and thus without damning the entire human race provided a way to avoid eternal damnation under His Wrath that we perfectly just because of sin
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works
in order to be saved you must believe that Christ paid your penalty of your sin and death that is the reason you deserve to be in hell. but you MUST repent of your sins and believe the Gospel!
well I dont own many books on Hell....actually none.......but I will say this: 1 John tells us whether or not we are saved------I believe that only those who are saved will spend eternity with God. I believe that is what the Bible teaches. like I said I do not look at any doctrine with manmade whether it's name is universalism, calvanism, armenisasm, ect. ect., I follow the teachings of the Bible and what Jesus Christ taught. not john calvin, not luther, not any of those men.
I'm curious, does scripture say somewhere "I haven't made you know everything about me because you would boast and rebel"? I would be careful when you try to explain a mystery's reasons; uh, isn't that the point, it's a mystery? Also, why do you talk about a theoretical "if we knew this we would boast and rebel"? We don't know everything and we boast and rebel. So, what should be done? (Please if possible, forgive my tone, I may sound plain rude; my apologies.)
okay sir I did not mean to "debate" with you in comments. I Must sincerely disagree respectfully on your view of hell. Forgive me if I offended you in any way bro :) feel free to contact me if you want. God Bless :)
I think you misunderstood me--people can be saved but they must turn to Christ and repent on their sins---what I was saying is that we can only be Saved through Christ and every other way is a dead end road that many are traveling even unto this day-----the broad way of destruction. A wooden cross doesnt save anyone my friend. Jesus Christ dying for you sin does as the wrath of God poured upon Him on the cross. That is what the Bible says. Read Romans, and the 4 Gospels 4 more information.
Jesus (the right Jesus) is the ONLY way to heaven: John 10:1, 9, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber... I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
im sorry sir, I'm leaning on Scripture and not on the teachings of man. Seek the Scripture NOT the teachings of man. This is important.Jesus Christ spoke about Hell. so if there no hell where do satan and his demons go? annilation?
that is not what the Gospel is........not everyone goes to Heaven friend! Jesus said " I am THE way the truth and the Life no one comes to the Father but by me" also the Gospel which Paul preached...that we must Repent of our sins and trust in Christ and live our lives for Him rather than ourselves
Very, very good. Humble and biblical.

God chose me and you cannot convince me otherwise.. Praise be to Him!
Nothing, therefore, is more clear from the Scriptures, than that it is not the actual purpose of the cross to save all mankind.

Simply believing in Jesus isn't enough
that is why He came into the likeness of human form---hope that makes sense
Excellent!

This is the exact same sermon he gave at second Resolved Conference... in 2006 i think.
