One of the hardest things indeed, with any creative process, is editing. What to drop, what ot add, bring on front, move to back and so on. What really helps develop your editing skills is actually finishing even the less stellar tracks. By doing this you also avoid getting into the void of "waiting for that perfect track", where you pretty much never get finished anything at all. You also develop a strong routine for a lot of stuff involved with producing the track. Finishing tracks with a steady pace also prepares you for the moment you finally create the "most awesome track ever", the baby who doesn't disappoint you, as finishing tracks teaches you a broad spectrum of skills. Mixing, arranging, actual producing and how to end the track properly and so on. This said, it's also a good skill to learn when you really need to put the baby in the basket and ditch him/her on the door step of an orphanage and never look back. And like this video beautifully demonstrated, some rare times it's also best to adopt back the ditched baby. Great stuff once again.
Wow this video couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me. I really needed to hear this! I am going to go turn some of my dead babies into new Frankenstein monsters now.
have you been spying on me goodness! topics youve been putting out are so relevant to the journey im in as well. why not tap my wrist and say hi i want to give you a hug for all your help tho lol!
I watched this video years ago and really honed in on that first bit of advice .. I found myself getting too excited about a song and wanting to relisten to it and it became a constant habit after just one day of working and i fell into that cycle / haulting so much g r o w t h this video made me realize that mistake and correct it with set boundries and honestly ive never been more excited and invested in music. i cant stress enoough how much this video has impacted my actual life you are awesome and the people very much appreciate your entire approach. you also make a LOT of sense when explaining / breaking stuff down
Love your videos man, it's really hard to find valuable music prod tutorials containing REAL HUMOUR!!! Keep up! I wanna hear this finished project tho, it's litty.
Very nice man. I will recommend your channel to ppl in my class (audio tech course). There are mainly rap producers booking studios to browse presets through audient consoles. I think you might help them. Not being a beatmaker myself I also find it helpful. U got my sub indeed
Great tips with hilarious dark humour. I suddenly feel like I’ve finally found someone I can make my friend at long last! I will totally be calling you repeatedly for your advice & experience with your awesome offer on song creation but more so just to soothe my lonely heartfelt pangs for a true soul to soul connection with someone who knows what it’s like to be a frustrated & sensitive artist. Watch that dial Underbelly bro-j. Tick to the tock
Listening to Aphex Twin's new EP, then seeing this video, has given me some ideas about how a song can also be a mix of your greatest hits or your dead babies.
I've harvested stem cells too, making cool little Frankenbabies. But once in a while I get lucky with a shock of inspiration and resuscitate a dead baby into a zombie baby. Just look at how well that worked for Michael Jackson. Without his zombie baby we wouldn't have Thriller.
It is common wisdom among composers and arrangers: kill your darlings. Doesn't matter how precious it is or how much time you spent on it; if it doesn't work, throw it out.
u just gonna hit me with glasses now? dafuq bro, looks slick as hell tho. and omg thanks for that encouragement in the beginning about letting go and dont listen to the loops you did, i did that for the longest time and didnt get anything done thanks man
Yo Mr Undybell, top shit as per usual, is there any chance that you could go through some audio fx, I have sidechaining and shit down but want to get that professional sound on my tracks. They sound super stale and quite flat at the moment
will def do a couple of fx specific vids in the future, but not sure if adding more effects will fix the staleness. Could be a volume or arrangement issue.
Do you mean to tell me that for the low low price of [free introductory course] we can sift through dead babies together? It's like all of my wildest fantasies are coming true all at once
"However, not all babies are worth rising..." I can't stop laughing at this.
Wamauro Dentes [boka loka] dark af 💀
😂
LMAO I CANT-
There's no such thing as a perfect typo--
ok so
check it

This is exactly what I needed right now. Definitely recommend a private lesson with this guy. Awesome to work with.
thanks amar, would love to work with you again sometime soon!
Wow this video couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me. I really needed to hear this! I am going to go turn some of my dead babies into new Frankenstein monsters now.
yes harvest their organs
do i sell their organs for profits to rich asians?
I'd simmer a stock in the slow cooker, freeze and save for later.
@@andyby I think that would be called a "sample pack." Great idea!
This looks like it was shot in 2004 and I love it.
the glory days
"ya dingus" can't believe how this is still relevant for me even after 2 years
The 'deceased' folder is a great idea. I will begin culling immediately. The nursery's about to get a whole lot smaller. Many thanks

Dead baby sounds like something str8 outa silent hill
His "Bob Ross" like approach to music is what I needed
bob ross doesn't suck at producing
1:09 I realized that the other day. This is absolutely sooo true.
you are the most hilarious yet effective tutor on beat making-wondering why I'm watching this in 2017......
so happy I did bruv
❤u bruv
Great advice about not stopping until you start something to work when you re-visit the project, apparently Ernest Hemmingway did with his writing.
Good video, I have not been practicing in a while But I haven't given up, I'm still watching.
thanks
Mont
never give up mont. thanks for watching
this series is not very information-dense but it's ok because the delivery is so reassuring.

NXT tryna transition into my new career as cam girl
Were you inspired by tsuruda and derg when you made that beat?
Jack Johnston yes, and especially this producer called sumthin sumthin
he's dope too
Will now forever be saying, Thank you, Deadbaby.
I was barely able to finish watching this video
Where is the free weegledigle donger dunger option? I expected more.
Forest Music we can discuss donger options during our orientation
Noticing your kid is drawing paintings of the Apocalypse, you must be very proud!!!!

Basically add a high contrast bridge section to your song.
holy LORD underbelly. all your videos are facts but the " you gotta move on ya dingus" just hit me right in my soul. wowzers.
i immediately noticed the muted track called "stem cells". foreshadowing
Goat Simulator vibes on this beat ♥️
Haha I needed this after a frustrating but progressive day of beat making
It's amazing how you record this stuff without any cuts, i mean, how many takes do you do ?
3:35 "Macklemore for Gay President" at the bottom lol
“Sometimes its better to just abandon them” 😂
Listening to Aphex Twin's new EP, then seeing this video, has given me some ideas about how a song can also be a mix of your greatest hits or your dead babies.
Nice, that track reminded me of Iglooghost a bit. Where can I listen to it?
Did you ever finish and release this? I really like it!
i wish a had some money. i would pay you not only for your lessons, but for your comedy man, you are killing it :D.
thanks moises, we'll get you rich soon
Never actually tried that last tech, Underbelly. Thanks for the info. Here's to hoping one day I will suck a little less at producing.

Hey quick question I appreciate how you have really outreached to new producers with humour and wisdom, so how did you gain the skills you have Now?
uncle joe taught me
Zoom early adopter.
The rest of us waited til covid to kick things off.
The intro is creepy and calming at the same time
"Not all babies are worth raising. Sometimes, it's just better to abandon them..." LMAO
Set the babies free into the world for everyone to judge.
u just gonna hit me with glasses now? dafuq bro, looks slick as hell tho. and omg thanks for that encouragement in the beginning about letting go and dont listen to the loops you did, i did that for the longest time and didnt get anything done thanks man
Hahahaha this guy gives really good advice, but the way he tells it absolutely had me cracking up lol. Thanks man haha

Any suggestions on how to name/organize your dead babies so that you'll be able to find them later ?
Wow...... need that project for remix
damn this man was using zoom years before it was cool
FAX
Where can I hear some more of your music? It's dope. It reminds me, a little, of Geode and the other Chord Marauders
coming out in february
Lol I need to make a graveyard folder. But do you really need to have a poop folder?
I try not to shit where I eat
is there a name for the metallic percussion loop you were using for that beat?
Wonkloop? Idk man
number one channel

That first beat is dope...
A few dozen babies were harmed in the making of this video
The song used as an example is so much like Cbat lmao
The funny thing is the jokes are so 2008 but this was made in 2016/2017
this dude has me cracking up every time!!! good work dude.
thanks robin
I love you dude...I love how you weave comedy into some serious shit. Do you still give lessons?
Hey underbelly can u please add "silk" to Spotify or someshit thanks

Bahahha I recognize you!! I was searching for a video to help with my unfinished song problem and found this lol. Let's work on a song together :)
I'm bouta sample "ok, so check it."
Not all babies are worth raising, sometimes it's just better to abandoned them, LOL! You kill it man😂
Anyone know how to create sounds like the ones at 4:11 ? Any tutorial on this?
Helped me a lot. Do you upload one of your DECEASED files in exchange for some goodies?
Sounds like you were having a baby with all that grunting you were making when the track was playing.
Holy shit proof that Zoom existed before 2020!
oooow so fresh!! Your videos are a breath of fresh air. Your teaching method with a touch of wit makes it so interesting. 5*
could we have the project file for this pls?
1:17 that tip is so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so f*n important.
