I just picked up those Sigva’s a few weeks ago. I agree. They are great for the money. I got the lighter colored version. They make a good addition to my collection.
After not so long thinking about it, I decided to buy the SIVGA SV021 together with the FIIO BTR5. I use the headphone wired and via the BTR5 and both sound great! Your videos helped me to make the fast decision and so far I do not regret it! Thanks!!!!
@daft1361 How's it going. Are you still enjoying both? I've been eyeing up the BTR5/BTR7, and a good pair of closed back headphones. Something like these, or ATM40x, or AKG 361/371, or Beyerdynamic 770Pro
Loving your videos! Without fail everything you review that I may be interested in getting isn't available in my country! I feel like you're doing that on purpose at this point :)
i'm getting the sivga's (closed-back) as my 2nd pair, my first pair is the Harmonicdyne Zeus (open-back) another headphone that people say sounds fun, my first high end headphone
The rosewood looks just beautiful. The problem I have with headphones is the oils in my skin always seem to destroy the ear cup material. I agree with agent83. The quest for neutrality is a waste of time for most of us. My ears are just not that good and I rely on the product to give me what I need. Randy's reviews are awesome.
They do sound pretty good, but I actually ended up returning them for two reasons: 1) If you have a small head, they don't fit super well. Not terrible, but not well. 2) I'm a bit sensitive to sibilant S sounds, and these headphones were absolutely punishing on tracks with strong S sounds (see White Horses by Low). Yes, it's largely the track's fault, but other headphones still aren't nearly as punitive. I think for most people these will be great headphones, especially for the price. However, if you already know you don't like harsh S sounds, stay clear of these. Some positives: I did love these when playing powerful classical pieces though, they added emotion and drama to a big orchestra (try Mozart's Requiem). Well-produced pop music like Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa also sounded great on these headphones. That's my two cents. If you love these I'm not trying to talk you out of them, they're definitely good. I just wanted to let people know my experience. I've since saved up more and went for the Meze 99 Classics, and they're spectacular. Quite the price jump though. (I tried these with a standard phone/laptop aux out, and the iFi hip-dac.)
Hey there, I've been trying to decide between these and the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros (80 ohms)... Have you tried the DT 770s? I almost pulled the trigger on these because of all the positive reviews. But your comment on sibilance has really made me think twice... I listen to tonnes of pop punk and classic rock, do you reckon I should give these a miss?
@@TF2ReplayMaker I've never owned the DT770s but I have tried them ( the 32 ohm version). I remember really liking the way they sounded! I can only speak for myself and my experiences, but if I was getting a first pair of really good headphones, I'd get the 770s. If I already had a great "accurate" pair, I'd say try the Sivga ones! They're not for everyone but they sure are fun and different! Just because I didn't love how they went for their "fun" sound doesn't mean you won't. Obviously I'm in the minority here, a lot of reviewers seem to really enjoy them! Worst case, you can always return whichever one you got and get the other ones. If it helps, the song that really hurt my ears with these was "White Horses" by Low (that whole album is quickly becoming an absolute favorite of mine). I'd say give that a listen, and if the songs you like are generally less sibilant than that White Horses, you're probably good. Hope that helps a bit at least! I wish I could be more helpful, but I'm not a reviewer or anything. Just an enthusiast :) Either way, happy listening and let me know what you think of whichever ones you get!!
@@Streckometer Thank you so much for your detailed reply!!! Really appreciate that you elaborated so much on your opinion, as a fellow music lover 😄 I'll most definitely listen to that album by Low to get an idea of what you mean. And based on what you say I may just end up getting the DT770s since I don't have an actual pair of wired headphones just yet (been doing research for months, I only have Soundcore Life Q30s which are amazing but they're Bluetooth) I'll update you on my final choice for sure!
Zeos, Chifiaudioreviews, and Cheapaudioman all like these... $150 USD... Closed-Back with thumpy bass, good mid and sub bass, not harsh, warm, comfortable, built well, kinda portable, good isolation, looks good, wood, exactly what I want in a closed-back! Sold. I might pick up a set in the future unless something around the same price which is closed and sounds more appealing to me comes out.
@cheapaudioman I also have the Robin's and I found myself loving how rock & metal sounded on this set of cans, it's presented how it should be! But let me tell ya, I paired it with my ifi hip/dac 2 and hit that xbass button and I felt like I had skullcandy crushers on! A really fun headphone indeed. Love your reviews, specifically when you talk about what types of music shine on certain headphones that is what helps me determine a purchase or not.
I have myself the brown colored version. Love it but there's a few minor things I noticed: lack of swivel still allows a seal but just barely, and the scoop in the midrange makes some vocals hollow mainly just of first listens.
Generally speaking most audiophiles DO tend to prefer open-back heaphones better than closed back due to having much better midrange and soundstage. I didn't like the ATX M50 either. Deep bass but midrange "suckout".
yep me too, absolutely hated the M50x, got rid of them. Actually there are quite a lot of popular headphones that are just plain standard or even not up to par.
I've been waiting for years to buy a new pair of headphones, have seen hundreds of reviews, but now I feel like these are the headphones I've been waiting for. Everyone seems to be happy with the quality and price and it looks much better than most other 150 euro headphones. Unfortunately, the dark/black version is not available in Germany.
I am sensitive to clamp force but need to wear glasses and headphones for work, and these have been amazing. Maybe the most comfortable headphones I have ever tried. I might buy another if covid ever lets me go back to the office.
This is definitely a split opinion headphone, I’ve seen two reviews that hate it, and two that love it, I got myself a pair and I’m on the hype train, these are fantastic lol
The hype train has been running strong on these. But it's well founded. A word of caution though, the sound changes a lot depending on the source in my experience. These didn't sound good at all on my Topping NX4, but on my Atom stack they sounded great.
I got mine last night. They are wonderful. Softest pads I have ever felt. Sound good on my Schiit iemagni and modi stack. I missed out on the 006. I wasn't going to miss out on these.
They sound great on my MacBook Air (to me) but I’ve not yet delved into amp/dac setup yet and wanted something easy to drive. Easily the best $150 I’ve spent on audio, easily.
Just got SIGVA SV006. Holy fuck. A bit too loose on my head, but the sound is incredible. Best I've ever heard. For my taste they out Shure 440 and 840, AKG 361, Beyer 770, Philips 9500, Samson 850, Sony 7506, a few Superlux, Sennheiser HD 200, 560, 599, 600 and 280. Wow. That's my summary of the sound. Wow.
Kids got fired for joking about dongles. It’s the most fun word to say besides chartreuse and xylenes. What shame…dongle on dude. Dongle on! Sivgas are usually pretty neat. Lot of options; regularly come up on open box specials. Danke for the opinion!
Had an ATH-M50X years ago and sold it within a couple of months. Kept my NAD Viso HP50 (still with me) instead. Thinking about getting either a Sivga SV021 or AKG K361. Thanks Randy 👍
My biggest gripe with it m50x was that it was not comfortable. If it's not comfortable it doesn't really matter how good it sounds. I have the same complaint with my Viso50 though, but I did keep those.

@@gizzy2403 My primary headphones at home are Shure SRH840. MSRP was $200, I think. They are $150 on Amazon now, same as the M50x. In my opinion, the Shure sound a lot better and more accurate to voices instruments. But also, I find them very comfortable for long listening sessions. I think I've had them on my head for 8 hours straight before. They're over the ear so they can get warm when it's humid but I always have the air conditioner on in my house in the summertime so it's not a big issue. They are a fantastic value in my opinion.
@@omahahaha they sound awesome, but I'm not familiar w/that brand. I also listen for extended periods of time 6-8 hrs. Do th ShureH840 's require an amp?
I was about to ask about how this sounded compared to the AKG you recently reviewed, and then you answered it lmao. These at the same price as the K371 sounds like a no-brainer! The rosewood print looks nice, also (EDIT: it's real rosewood, which explains why it looks so great!)
Wow that price is so nice! Love this trend to present viable options to us...(got to give the people what they want) subwoofer placement and headphone assessment have been a struggle for me. Other than that I'm perfect. 😊😎🎶
Unfortunately I have already bought these. Just waiting for them to arrive. Fortunately, it seems thay are VERY good for the price. Thanks for yet another great and honest review. Steve from Tassie. (PS: Tool, NIN ... seems we have similar tastes)
I’ve had these now for two weeks. Pros -very well constructed and look great -comfortable, especially if you have a large head. Low squeezing force, soft ear pads -fun to listen to, especially distorted feedback. Really shines with electronica type music Cons -too bass forward for my liking benefits from EQing down the bass -muted lower mid range/male vocals -some would say the lively, fun sound is not an honest reproduction of the recorded music Enjoyment of audio is very subjective. In the $150 price range; I’d also look at the Shure SRH 840, AT M50x, and AKG371. Overall opinion-ideal headphone if you prefer electronica type music and don’t require headband/ear pad pressure to stabilize the headphones
If you are looking for a dual 2.5mm to 2.5mm balanced cable to let’s say the earstudio es100 for the Sivga sv021 the following is an easy solution: NewFantasia 2.5mm Balanced Cable 6N OCC Copper Silver Plated Cable for Monolith M1060, M1060C, M565, M565, for AudioQuest Nighthawk Headphone Walnut Wood Shell (2X 2.5mm Version)
Have the Sivga 005, love em (Zoes recommendation). But they are open backs, maybe these would be a good “sister set” for something in a closed back. Great as always, thanks
These are almost identical to the Emotiva Airmotiv GR1s. I mean to the last detail. And of course zeos mentioned that the build of the GR1s is almost a full copy of the Sivga Phoenix, which I owned for a time. I think they copied the Phoenix/GR1s in order to release a closed back. If you have a set of GR1s or Phoenix, you will see that they are almost carbon copy in design. That's not a bad thing since the GR1s and the Phoenix are fantastically over-built. I will mention, though, that those ear cups are a real hassle to remove. But should you ever need to replace them, the Phoenix earcups are identical. They even work on ny GR1s.
Huh. I found this video right after Crinacle just covered on how it sounded like, complete with graphs. It's so interesting to see how different people would react so differently on the same headphone.
Thanks for the review! I still doubt between Sivga Robin and Sivga Oriole. I'm looking for closed headphones for electronic music, budget is around 300. According to reviews, Sivga Robin are perfect for electronic music (such as PsyChill, Trance). But I also like that the Sivga Oriole can be folded, they are more compact to carry and they have a smaller headband and better hold down for a small head. The question remains, is it possible to equalize Sivga Oriole's bass, so that it sounds like Sivga Robin?! In Headfonics review they say that Sivga Oreole: "is not a super responsive headphone when it comes to bass response to alterations in your source player. is not very sensitive to bass equalization". Is it really true so? Are Sivga Oriole good enough for electronic music? Hope to see your review of Sivga Oriole and a comparison with Sivga Robin!)
I'm a bit older than you so to me, classic rock is just rock. I love the Seattle big four, Tool, Rob Zombie, etc. For something a bit different, check out the Lorn "Acid Rain" music video. They have many songs I like.
I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a "true neutral" guy, because to me, it gets boring. I like a nice V-curve sometimes, as long as it's tastefully done (overdone bass can suck sometimes). I also enjoy tuning that's on the warmer side of neutral.
Me too. Meze 99 Classics. Are really good. The new harmonicdyne Poseidon’s are also great. I’m in a mission to find an awesome closed back headphone for less than $200 and it’s harder than I thought it would be.
Randy, I really think you should get into electronic music. Not dubstep, not EDM, not the mainstream, simplified stuff that everyone assumes makes up 100% of electronic music. Take a look at some truly experimental, pioneering work. Artists like Floating Points, or Oneohtrix Point Never (Aphex Twin if you want to understand how it all started). I think you'll find some really fun music, and some of their tracks are incredibly helpful in discerning two different pieces of audio equipment. You could also take a look at the more ambient side of electronic, but that's definitely not for everyone ;).
For the record, the artists I suggested are very different, and even very diverse within their own productions. But that's kind of the point. Electronic music is vast.
@@Spaniard47 During my journey through this audio hobby I find myself playing music of all kinds to ''test" my system and to further my exposure to types of music that hasn't been my normal - like 80's music. I find smooth/modern jazz, modern blues, electronic, modern classical and others far more detailed and pleasing to listen to lately. Almost everything I used to like sounds like mass marketed noise now. Kinda sad.
I've had the mx50 connected to my lg v35 and they were just mediocre. The volume wasn't there for me so I added an amp. Even with the amp the bass was tuned way below the mids and treble. I'm really looking for a headphone with full bass and good sub bass around 2-300 dollars. Any suggestions?
What do you think of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X As far as comfortability money long listening... I listen to A thing from rock ,metal country, hip hop, funk, Soul . This would be personal listening as well as editing... I am A DJ but this would be only for personal
I own these headphones I asboutly love them. Well made very light n comfortable n sounds sick . Gear LG 40 phone with a Quad DAC. Douk U3 amplifier $150 they r hard to beat.
I actually did not mind listening to these stock but I found EQ'ing to really clean up some of the minor issues I had. For $150 I dont think you'll do a lot better in a closed back.
I like these more often than I like the Phoenix when it comes to what I listen to. More of a W shaped sound signature, and they're more comfortable to me. Ordering a second pair in black now because the lady of the house has commandeered the rosewood pair.
HI RANY Can you help me with an issue I'm having with my SIVGA wood headphone 021 Robing. Great sounding, good looking, and comfortable. I noticed that I was having an issue with the cable. One the 2.5 male ends was bent so I straightened it out but I was still getting occasional buzzing or disconnect. What would you recommend as a good replacement cable. Thank you Vince Hernandez
I used to own those then I gave them away. They're computer speakers. They can't compare to a set up with a dac and proper amp. Still in a small room for a kid or a teenager they'd be cool as hell and a lot cheaper than a stereo system.
Hey Randy! Any chance you will be reviewing the Schkitt Modi Multibit any time soon? It is not on back order anymore. Would love to see how it compares to the Modi 3+ and Bifrost.
hmmm, 4K-6K is the worst place to have a bump in the response. The smilie face EQ is popular but it's fatiguing after awhile for me. If you listen to more smooth music genres, it's probably fine but IMO rock/EDM is already very bright music. If I were to listen to those, I'd want really laid back response in the treble bands.
Honestly I think that they are good for spoken words or tv or podcasts but not that great for music honestly I’d either go up to $200 for the Meze 99 Neos or go cheap KOSS khp 30i which sound great too and only $30
Are these the best under $300 headphones that’s my question what what can’t they do I listen to a lot of metal old-school Exodus all the way up to Rio clear Chris jazz, heavy on symbols, heavy and screaming vocals. Can these do it or are they just too bright you’re saying that the meds are scooped out of these how did they do with something like Motley Crue Aerosmith? Can I hear the bass on those? How did they sound with iron maiden on somewhere in time do that do they bring it out? Do they bring the vocals out on something like that? How do they sound with Nat King Cole singing Christmas carols all of this on vinyl what do I what do I expect? Are these the best I can get for $300 or is there something better what is the best under $300 for screaming vocals heavy metal

-too bass forward for my liking benefits from EQing down the bass
-muted lower mid range/male vocals
-some would say the lively, fun sound is not an honest reproduction of the recorded music
Enjoyment of audio is very subjective.
In the $150 price range; I’d also look at the Shure SRH 840, AT M50x, and AKG371.
Overall opinion-ideal headphone if you prefer electronica type music and don’t require headband/ear pad pressure to stabilize the headphones
If you are looking for a dual 2.5mm to 2.5mm balanced cable to let’s say the earstudio es100 for the Sivga sv021 the following is an easy solution:
NewFantasia 2.5mm Balanced Cable 6N OCC Copper Silver Plated Cable for Monolith M1060, M1060C, M565, M565, for AudioQuest Nighthawk Headphone Walnut Wood Shell (2X 2.5mm Version)
Thanks Randy! Another great find! How do they compare to the Meze 99/Neo/Noir? My current fun-closed back headphones.
I was gonna ask about those too, I know the 99 classics are double the price but, if you had to choose which would you suggest?
Will Ferrell
and John C. Reilly called. They want you in Step Brothers 2
Have the Sivga 005, love em (Zoes recommendation). But they are open backs, maybe these would be a good “sister set” for something in a closed back. Great as always, thanks
@@blueslime1980 sorry, typo
I have a gigantic head. Would I need two of them?
I love mine, I think of peanut butter every time I wear them. They are comfy and they sound great for the money.
Active loudspeakers with digital DSP and … dual saber DACs are the future :)
What headphones would you recommend for metal/hard rock genres?
Ubru kem anagg annagg, mbuku?
@@marcschweitzer ?
Huh. I found this video right after Crinacle just covered on how it sounded like, complete with graphs. It's so interesting to see how different people would react so differently on the same headphone.
Crinacle tends to diss everything I actually find enjoyable. This headphone is no exception.
@@Bjaardker To each their own, I suppose. It depends on what you value in your headphones I guess in terms of tonality.
'Catfish on a picnic table' Brilliant hahaha
Any recommendations for a good dac/headphone amp for these. Will be using them at work. Bluetooth is ideal, tone control would be great as well.
@Randy Any thoughts on how these compare to the Meze 99?
Awesome rWviews (typo in video title)!
@@cheapaudioman I appreciate this endeavor
@@cheapaudioman Thanks, I might have to take a look at those headphones.
@@cheapaudioman you don't like akg k371?
@@Anomalyn1 I haven’t tried them yet. I’ve heard they have some more bass than the 361. Will be picking up a pair soon
Hey Thanks got pair Sivga very happy with purchase
Also have Sony css5 again Thanks
Randy, I really think you should get into electronic music. Not dubstep, not EDM, not the mainstream, simplified stuff that everyone assumes makes up 100% of electronic music. Take a look at some truly experimental, pioneering work. Artists like Floating Points, or Oneohtrix Point Never (Aphex Twin if you want to understand how it all started). I think you'll find some really fun music, and some of their tracks are incredibly helpful in discerning two different pieces of audio equipment. You could also take a look at the more ambient side of electronic, but that's definitely not for everyone ;).
Giving those suggestions a try! I'm kinda giving up on music with singers for a while. Thanks!
Kinda sad.
Nice shirt
Considering you give occasional culinary advice you could have called yourself chef audio man.
How would you compare then to the Meze 99 Neo?
Connor, I was thinking about asking the same question!!! I just got my 99 Noirs...
How do they compare to 770’s?
It sounds like the momentum 2?
I own these headphones I asboutly love them. Well made very light n comfortable n sounds sick . Gear LG 40 phone with a Quad DAC. Douk U3 amplifier $150 they r hard to beat.
Randy, pls review some op amps (chip swaps) interested in your thoughts on Sparkos Labs! Love the channel!
Great review, wonder how they stack up against akg 371 as they are Harmon bassy and 40 bucks cheaper, might get both to try
I actually did not mind listening to these stock but I found EQ'ing to really clean up some of the minor issues I had. For $150 I dont think you'll do a lot better in a closed back.
agree
I bought 6 copies of Star Wars Number 1 in 1977. I wonder if they are worth anything?
Dammit Randy I don't even like headphones and you got me buying these
Just wanna ask, should I get this or the AKG K361?
How these compare to K361?
How do they compare to a catfish slapped on a picnic table? (ASKING FOR A FRIEND)
The Catfish when tastefully done tastes much better
I'm wondering how these would compare to sivga phoenix as a companion to my sivga p2's please? Peace
I like these more often than I like the Phoenix when it comes to what I listen to. More of a W shaped sound signature, and they're more comfortable to me. Ordering a second pair in black now because the lady of the house has commandeered the rosewood pair.
@@JeradBenge nice. Thanks 👍🏽
Thank you
Vince Hernandez
Any help getting a cable for these with a mic? I'm new to headphones and would like these to double for zoom calls, etc.
You should review the Logitech z623 I think the sound really good would love to know your thoughts
I used to own those then I gave them away. They're computer speakers. They can't compare to a set up with a dac and proper amp. Still in a small room for a kid or a teenager they'd be cool as hell and a lot cheaper than a stereo system.
Dongledac. Pleasing to the ear.
VS senn HD555 or HD560s like them both flat natural except 555 treble dip fast 560s treble little bright.
Hey Randy! Any chance you will be reviewing the Schkitt Modi Multibit any time soon? It is not on back order anymore. Would love to see how it compares to the Modi 3+ and Bifrost.
Trying to get one in. They’re lead time is pretty long
Is Chewbacca male or female. I always thought it was male but Zeos' cat Chewbacca died (RIP) which was female.
Any “Dolby Atmos” enabled headphones on a budget.
hmmm, 4K-6K is the worst place to have a bump in the response. The smilie face EQ is popular but it's fatiguing after awhile for me. If you listen to more smooth music genres, it's probably fine but IMO rock/EDM is already very bright music. If I were to listen to those, I'd want really laid back response in the treble bands.
Hi!! Under 300€, which is the BEST sound for you?
Sivga Luan for me ❤
just try samson sr850 headphones for every kind of music
I have the AKG 701Q --- I paid $170.00 used

I wonder if headphone speakers will survive clapping the earcups together the way you do. If they do, I suppose they are well built ; )
There's a typo in the title if you care a year later. Lol.

Catfish on a picnic table...isn't that in the kamasutra ? To be fair he does keep telling us how randy he is

Angry chair sounds really compressed. It doesnt sound like a bunch of information got squished out and chopped off to you?
The Korn track opened up a little more...
