These hard-working weaver and artisans are never in the position of making a profit. Centuries, weavers and artisans from India have been exploited. In the internet era like the present time, amazon and etsy well use their platforms to keep exploiting these artisans from far and away. I love their shawls. I am always reluctant to buy one or two from western internet stores. The source is always exploited. Very sad indeed! Long live these awesome weavers!
Traditional valueable matchless art of kashmir. But for the past one decade machine pashmina spun thread is mostly used in weaving the kani shawls thus fake spurious imitations. Use of CHARKHA spun pashm thread only is basic parameter for a genuine Article ingrained with a G I Label at C D i Nowshehra a Govt organisation. G I Label is the touch stone of authentic pashmina. It saves a buyer to get duped by unscrupulous traders.
Kani shawls are now banned items since they are made from shahtoosh... Bt its illegally sold in a secretive way in kashmir... A good one can cost u nearly 100k inr...
