As an over 50 youtuber sharing the raw challenges of starting over at over 50, I definitely fall on the second trend. Posting my videos has really resonated with my audience. So much so that one video got me monetised in 4 weeks and four days! 😀
UA-cam shorts hurt my channel. Well they grew my channel but with the wrong demographic for my product. Be careful doing shorts if it's going to change your demographic of your ideal client
I just want to really succeed this year. I pray everyone reading this has a very blessed and prosperous year. We are gonna rock it this year on UA-cam. Small channels keep thriving. We got this.
I started my YT channel in 2023. And just started my second channel. I'm 60! I enjoy it and no matter what you choose, continuing to learn and share is good for everyone. Since I started, I keep wishing I had started 10 years ago.
I will be 70 in March and have been working on a garage/lab thing for a few years. I doubt I get it going until summer sometime. In process of wiring it after I had put insulation and walls in. Next would be shelves -ceiling to floor , wall to wall to hold all the little things I have gotten over the years to use in some way. You have a lot of time to build your channel compared to me. Good luck.. 😊
Posted my first video when I was 52. Now I have 3 channels. Back when I started I was using a Sony Hanycam. It's easier now because we can do it all from a phone. It's never too late. 😁
I definitely agree that authenticity is the new currency but I also like what you talked about in another video that people will consume content that either solves a problem or makes them feel something. While I always strive for authenticity, I also enjoy spreading kindness and love through laughter and humor. I remember a quote from many years ago "People won't always remember what you say, but they will remember how you made them feel!" -Unknown
I'm listening to you guys at this minute and the message mirrors exactly my frustrations. I'm a 64 year old UA-camr wannabe who started uploading videos because I wanted to share the struggles many people in their 50s up are facing.
I'm a new business owner over 50 and am starting a UA-cam channel for the business. I'm encouraged about creating my channel with your recent videos and the trends that you discussed. Thank you.
Subscribers, in my opinion, do matter if you want to work with brands. When I had 50k subs nobody would work with me. As soon as I passed 150k subs my email started getting flooded with requests. I now work with tons of brands and affiliate companies all around the USA. I can't keep up with all the work as there are products being delivered to my house 3-4 days out of each week. At this point I need to hire a team. Keep uploading and be consistent. It WILL grow your channel if you do.
Well, according to your channel views, it looks like your consistency paid off. And you just picked up another subscriber. That was some pretty cool Stuff
I spend most of my time on UA-cam (in comparison to other platforms), and with that being said, I have seen the shift of new platforms and things it thinks I’ll like. I will watch some videos if it piques my interest on feed but I tend to click on subscription page and watch videos from people I’m subscribed to. There are tabs at the bottom... You can watch new stuff and/or you can still watch the things you’re subscribed to and that’s what I do. Both. My “for you” feed is usually full of stuff I don’t enjoy and I spend too much time on UA-cam so it should know what I like. I’d say I spend equal time between the normal feed and subscriptions tab. When referring to “how to” to “how I”, I haven’t heard hormozi say that, but I’ve heard Vanessa Lau say that and it’s a good tip
I am working on a communication style for self-improvement that I call "overt hypnosis" using my skill set in psychology and 20 years of research in the esoteric. As a therapist, I get great pleasure out of seeing people happier and healthier on the other side of interacting with me. Everything else is an indirect effect of me living out my purpose. I run a faceless voiceover channel because I want the information/words to really sink in. it's not about me or $... we shall see how this all goes!
When I recently heard “grandpa style vlogging”, I thought to myself “I can do that. 😂 I want to build a channel that focuses on legacy wealth creation, and I was held back by the fear of needing a super polished channel. 12:05 brings up a good point. Subscriptions and brand are being deprioritized by the algo. The algo is promoting niche content...not a brand, or a channel, or a creator. This threatens the brand relationship between creator and audience. Small creators may only get one of their videos pushed by the algo, and then nothing. For those who still doubt AI, 1/4 of the "prodessional model" accounts are actually AI and not real people, and each of those accounts has an accompanying OF account. Some people are setting up 10x accounts and pulling in 1mil a year in total from sunscriptions. They dont have to get out of bed, and its only a couple days worth of work a week to achieve it..... i often find myself wodering why ive not also done this as well

I saw this also and was and still super interested. I hate having that feeling of envy when I see those chanels that are brand new with the AI and are just popping off. I only hate the fact that im envious. I've already been experimenting with AI, but it still takes so much work. It looks much easier then it actually is.
@ItsStephnKidz i see it as no different to what is involved with my current band profile, without having to write and record songs, film content, edit, and thumbnail. Without having to do all that, it seems simple by comparison.
I was just commenting for myself. I've only been at it for a month, and with 5 of my kids 7 and under, it has been challenging, to say the least! I'm sure it'll get easier. Cheers to your channel!
00:40 me personally I'm very tired of exploitation titles and thumbnails, espacially titels, that dont tell me anything about the video; like "dont go there", "for the first time". This trend made me like youtube less honestly. Thank you Think Media for being consistent in offering clear and on topic videos. Happy new year.
Same here, almost the two subjects as you. When I want a dopamine hit, I will add a cat or cats to any subject and the views jump to 2500 to 5000. Cat-cheating

Hi Sean, I'm a UA-camr based in the UK, I have the first Edition of your book on my Kindle. Is there any way I could have your latest version on Kindle, since you can't mail to the UK? Thanks so much!
AI is extremely exciting and scary at the same time. I agree on authenticity and raw, real community and connection that will lead the way in 2025. Thank you for this episode!
Yes, sometimes I get 30 views on a few shorts then I will 525 on the next, but I can hardly ever break over the 500 mark. Weird stuff. I don't have a service or product though. Not sure what to do about that being a faith based channel.
We are also a Christ-centered channel. We are focused on inspiring families by producing very simple vlogs about things that really draw us closer and make our family function in love towards each other and the Lord. We're not focused on selling products, but we do want the good news of Jesus to go as far and as fast as possible.
While starting over after being 50+ and sharing your story is wonderful. I don’t see where the money is coming from. If so, many people are doing it how can it really be monetized very well?
I'm 2 weeks away from 64 and I started my youtube channel just a couple of months ago. I'm not looking for a ton of subscribers, I just am being me. But I've taught myself Davinci Resolve (thank you to many UA-camrs for that, including yourself where I started with iMovie) and I've learned that just a light tough in editing seems to be what the viewers enjoy. So that fits with what you said here. I'm also just starting to add a personal note to the channel, so I don't have a read on that yet, but we shall see how it goes. On another note, my main business is retouching with 25 years of photography behind me, so I've been there through all the trends. I use AI in Photoshop whenever I need it and don't when I don't, if that makes sense. I am a believer that you have to learn to embrace it and use it as a tool. it doesn't have to rule your life, but it sure as hell can help when you need it.
Hmmm 🧐 interesting alternative. For my channel its my 2nd channel I just created it and trying to make it different at the moment i do blues & jazz cover songs plus eye looks on how I created the cover and trying to figure out what else to do advertise my business but doing a video of why??? How I? Love these tips thank you 🙏
Yeah, I’m super frustrated because I see a channel that started at the same pace with me that their subscribers numbers are just skyrocketing and I will literally gain 3 subscribers and will lose 4.
Thank you, Think Media Podcast, for this insightful video. AI has been a game-changer for me as a new UA-camr who started in April 2024. It’s helped me create fun, silly content for my Spontaneous Chihuahua channel, deepen my study of the Word of God, and even get approved as an affiliate marketer for Badlands Ranch dog food. Their mission aligns with my passion for dogs, which inspired my channel. This video confirms I’m on the right track. I couldn’t do this as effectively without tools like ChatGPT ($20/month)-worth every penny! Thanks, Sean, for inspiring creators like me to grow and move forward!
This will affect software companies as well. After all, the way they get us to buy the latest iteration of their packages is by adding more bells and whistles. But, if the viewer is prefering a raw experience, then what's the use in constantly adding to our bag of tricks. By the way, I started on UA-cam when I was 55, back in 2010.
So I got a question about live streaming. I've been doing a lot of live streaming on mobile lately. I'm a very small channel but I'm getting a good amount of views and watch time from these lives compared to regular videos I make but My average view duration has gone down on these Even though these lives are way longer than my other videos. I'm really not sure at this point if it's helping my channel or hurting my channel.
This is rather frustrating listening to trend 1. There was a lot of talking about nothing and "you need to find the right people " "you need to make the right content" I'm not looking to be rude, but the first trend was 12 minutes of repeating those two phrases and paraphrasing the GaryVee video from a while back about the TikTokification of social media. Who are the right people and what does that mean to the content creator? Niche down? Create microniches? Views and exposure have never been sufficient to ensure a long term success for a brand, but without views and exposure the brand is never seen. Overall a good watch though.
Hi Sean, I’m from Canada and I tried to apply but there isn’t any shipping to my address. Am I able to get in on the rest of the promotional materials. I will gladly just order the book from Amazon. Thank for all your content. It is so valuable
I wanna be a tiktoker as a teenager about God bc im a Christian girl ,but it is so difficult bc people don’t care about God and I don’t reach the right people,I need to learn how to engage people and how to edit good vídeos ,i hope you understand me because i speak spanish and I don’t speak english 😅

I’m not skeptical about AI. I am, however, extremely concerned about its ethical usage.
To get more of your videos recommended by the algo, you may have to establish a relationship with the algo. A brand relationship.

As someone aging naturally, I’m glad authentic people are getting views. ❤

If subscriber count doesn't matter to UA-cam, will they eventually change their qualifications for monetization?

There is one huge difference: AI creation is not human creation. You choose which one you want to watch.
