    Thank you so much for this video. I am doing the program and I have been doing it for two weeks but and I’ve been learning so much thankfully to have found Daniel and this channel .. but I still seem to not be sleeping that well and I see myself getting frustrated and impatient. Wondering how to focus just on the fear and examples of overcoming that fear on a daily basis. Thank you!

    Cache, thank you for sharing your story! I am a Christian too! I have had the struggles like you and many of the things that Daniel teaches have helped me as well... I would like to agree with you that we have an unseen enemy that loves to exacerbate our struggles I have had to deal with added fear scanning to normal life as well. The bible says that to think it not strange when seemingly strange things happen to us because they happen to many believers and non believers. The beauty of it is Gods grace he allows healing and strengthening to everyone.

    GREAT interview. One question to Cache: how exactly did u confront ur fear during the night when u couldn‘t sleep? Did u stay in bed with ur anxious mind? Did u get out bed and for ex. watch tv?… Thanks!

    Many thanks Cache - So much of your story has resonated with me. It is so helpful to hear someone else identify things that you have struggled with and to hear that time and patience and knowledge do help. I needed the reminder of the positives of speed bumps and I know that i need to be fearless and do the things that I fear might be affected by sleeplessness. Thank you - you have helped today.

    I've had severe stress causing hypnic jerks, leading to sleepless nights. Even when I do sleep, I wake up at 2 or 3 am, then struggle to fall back asleep.
    Here is the solution. Don't worry this will work.
    Step 1
    Massage:
    1.Put some oil on your hand and rub it on the bottom of your toes.
    2.Press the bottom of each toe from big toe to pinky toe, starting gently and increasing pressure.
    3.Pinch the base of each toe gently.
    4.Massage the entire bottom of your feet, including the ankle and heel, with oil
    For each foot, follow these steps and use paper to soak up extra oil. Don't forget to wear socks. It's crucial. Use aromatic oil to prevent any bad smells from the socks. Make sure you have different socks for bedtime: ankle-length for warm weather and full-length for cold weather.
    Step 2
    Breathing exercise followed by meditation:
    Breathing Exercise:
    A. Posture:
    When you're ready , either sit or lie down on your bed.
    If you're sitting, ensure your back is properly supported for comfort.
    B. Technique Working Principle :
    Fold your thumb inward, tucking it inside your four fingers.
    Then, focus on your breath and notice the airflow.
    You'll observe that when you fold the left thumb, the airflow is more prominent in the left nostril, and vice versa.

    If the tiredness after many nights of not sleeping wouldn't be so terrible, i would never ever care about the importance of sleep.Lack of sleep is really not enjoyable, otherwise the insomniacs wouldn't look for help. If your method is really the solution for my sleep issues, i will let you know. I have really some big struggle with sleep, which already started in my school years, when i was a teenager.

      Hey my friend. Something came to mind for what you are experiencing that I think may be helpful. But when you mention about sleepless nights being so terrible, it leads me to believe there are other areas in your life in which you are experiencing excessive pressure, or anxiety. It may be self image (how you may appear to others), a need to impress others, could be performing a certain way in sports, the pressure to do well at work with fear you could lose your job if you don't, etc. But the more a person "gives up" the fight and the "need" to perform, and you are able to start accepting yourself for who you are and where you are at right now in life. Then the struggle will fade. And the reduced pressure in regular life will allow yourself to be more ok with a sleepless or poor night's sleep, and then eventually sleep shall come. The goal isn't to sleep, the goal is to rid yourself of anxiety, fear, excessive pressure, and performance, in all areas of life. I hope this is helpful!

      ​@@kelseymartens5417 very true! It's the anxiety/fear that's causing the not sleeping! I'm addressing mine with an anti anxiety med just temporarily as it's very tough dealing with anxiety when your fatigued or sleep deprived. So trust me people, if you were always an anxious person before your sleeping issues started then you NEED to give your body a break and take a temporary med to help you get over this hump! Then sleep will come and you'll be restored to not need the anxiety med anymore!

    Amazing interview! Thank youuuu, both Daniel and Cache! So many valuable lessons here. It's so scary to let go of all sleep efforts, but really this is the way to healing. I'm having a pretty rough speed bump at the moment, after 2 months of sleeping pretty good (I started my Bedtyme subscription at the beginning of March) and slowly after that I managed to get a pretty decent sleep, but the fear was still there. This is my first major speed bump since then (I had a few bad nights now and then before, but it only lasted 1/2 nights). Now I'm struggling for a week to fall asleep and I had nights in which I fell asleep at 5 am (also took lorazepam-big mistake). But I'm not that scared anymore, at least not like I was at the beginning when I didn't know what was happening. Also, even if I have a bad night, my days are much better. I realized that this is truly a journey, that I have to let time pass and be patient with myself. I was fearing speed bumps before (still a little now), because I thought that this means that I'm not getting better and that I'm starting from 0. I still have a little bit of intrusive thoughts that maybe I'll be stuck like this forever and that I cannot fully recover, even with all this knowledge...This is not true! Prior to this speed bump I still had fear, I took melatonin each night to help me to get to a state of sleepiness, I would shut my curtains off so tight so that if I wake up at 4 (so an hour before the sun rises), I wouldn't know. Even though, I was learning and reading and watching all these videos, I was still, without doing so many sleep efforts. Instead of going towards my fears, I was avoiding it. Going towards it one, twice, as many times it is needed, and going through speed bumps, once, twice, as many times it is needed, this will lead to truly healing.

      Valerie! So glad you caught this video and you know, you said it sooo well here. This truly is the way. And you know, I say often that if someone tells me “Daniel, I slept 7 hours!” then of course I’m glad because there was some relief but, there can be some performance anxiety when we celebrate sleep. Now what really makes me glad is when someone says “I didn’t sleep much, but I was okay”, or “I was really anxious, but I’m reacting less to this” - because this leads in the opposite direction of performance anxiety. It leads towards less and less effort, less response, more peace… and this is what I see in your message. And this wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t for some really wonderful heart work 😊

      I also struggle with this thought that I’ll never be able to recover even with all this knowledge. How does one get past this?
      However one thing I feel has started to happen is that my anxiety associated with sleepless nights has reduced. I mean I’m trying to shift my mindset to being more positive with whatever happens at night. Am I going in the right direction?

      Super similar with me..thanks for sharing. Been in this state now for 3 years..sleep great for 2 months and than rabbit hole for couple of days..on and off. Maybe I was succesfully avoiding it as you say, instead of sincerely facing it. So the fear and discomfort is still there

    Hi daniel ,I get sleep at night but not like before where i just lay down and slept.after laying down for almost an hour ,i sleep and the quality is also very light sleep ......How can i regain my ability of sleeping like a baby

    My insomnia is back but I’m ok I know what to do. At least I’m sleeping an hour if that. I keep waking up with nightmares thinking I’ve slept a lot but only 45 mins take me forever to fall asleep and then I wake up and skim the surfaces of sleep still aware of my environment. Funny he talk about the bible because in my nightmares I’m
    Often casting out demons with the rosary chant. I did then resort to the rosary and it helps me calm

    Hello Daniel. Thank you for your channel which I just discovered. I have always been a good sleeper and have been very stable and happy for 2 decades. Then in April I started getting tinitus, which has led to terrible insomnia. At the beginning I had 5 sleepless nights in a row which alongside the tinitus symptoms and fear around that left me in the darkest place I have ever been in my life .... (Those extreme thoughts only lasted 2 days, and I am more stable than that now). I think I am getting used to the tinitus now, and using pink noise at night to mask it. But my sleep has been very patchy. I have had a handful of nights of 8 hours in a row, and also a handful with no sleep at all, and everything in between. Last night I slept 1 hour. My doctor is encouraging me to take a low dose of mirtazapine which is an antidepressant which is also used for insomnia in low doses. I am tempted to, because I just feel my body needs a big reset. But I also very much like what I have heard of your teaching so far since discovering your channel this morning. I recognise you aren't here to provide medical advice, but I wondered if there are any success stories with people who have successfully combined medication and your teachings? Do you have any thoughts on this that you can share at all ? I'm just finding it so hard to know where to turn. Thanks so much.

    I also have a question for women that go through all this journey. Have you experienced increased fear/anxiety related to sleep or even went through a speed bump because your period was approaching? I feel like when I'm close to my period, or during my whole luteal phase, I have a lot of anxiety and fear that sometimes lead to a speed bump...I know there are a lot of hormonal imbalances during this time, but I want to know if someone relates to it as well 😄 Thank youu!

      yes i experience the same!! I have my period at the Moment and yeah, speed bumps and anxiety all the Time… and i think more than while follicular phase or ovulation isn‘t it?

      Me too!! Usually starts exactly one week before my period. Almost guaranteed to have a speed bump.

      Hi Valerie, yes, I have experienced this when I was in my recovery journey already. I was sleeping already well, but there were like 3 days every month that I didn't sleep. I tried to predict those 3 days and accomodate to it to experience it in the best possible way, but those 3 days always appeared. It has changed when I came accross some interview with a woman who had the same experience. Sleepless around her period and she said that she also accomodated her days to this time eg. she moved the morning meetings to later in the day. So I thought: " I can deal with 3 sleepless nights in a month" and shrugged. Weirdly enough, that was the last time I experienced it :)

      Hi im a year late and yes Ive experienced it too. I once googled it and saw that its common for us to struggle with sleep during this time of the month. That comforted me.

    Hi Daniel,
    Can you tell something more about the situation that the sleepstruggel is starting to disappear but the brain is starting to scan other threats and that is a good sign? My trigger for insomnia was a period of 3 year a form of itch wat was becoming so stressfull that i couldnt sleap anymore and then shifted the focus to sleep.. now that this itch problem is over en the insomnia is starting to fade away the brain is scanning the itch again. However the itch is gone but subcounciously it seems that it doesnt believe the original trigger an treath isnt over. Sow now this ‘ unreal’ threat is keeping me now awake and I see it is the brain scanning and do its work. So this is a good sign in my recovery proces?

      Hi Alexander,
      Yes it’s very common on the path of leaving the struggle. Here’s some more on this topic.
      It is very common that as we start understanding why we have struggled with sleep, the brain starts focusing on something else. Sometimes it is tinnitus, sometimes it is restless legs, sometimes it is some other health concerns.
      And it is not difficult to see why this happens. The brain is a survival machine. It is always out there to keep you safe. It's built to problem solve and look out for threats. When you learn that for example being awake at night is no real threat, the brain often has been very active, and it looks for something else that may be a threat.
      This is why as the focus shifts from sleep, the brain can find other things to “keep you safe from”.
      What is nice though is that you have already seen how when you are willing to learn and experience something that is not comfortable without trying to escape, it bothers you less and less.
      If you had been not willing at all to learn or be awake at night or to be more willing to experience this, then you would not have seen that the brain shifted focus. It would still be entirely focused on seep.
      So the way to be less bothered by other things that come from the brain trying to keep you safe is to deploy the same counterintuitive approach of friendship.
      Be willing to experience it. Take note of it. Understand that this too comes from a place of confusion in the safety minded brain. Be mindful when it comes to Google and research. Be kind to yourself and don’t judge yourself.
      And then when our brain understands that we are indeed safe, it finds less and less things to keep us safe from.
      Hope this will help!

      I think it’s about acknowledging what we know, and then not being hard on ourselves for trying things like pressure or CBTi as an effort
