Wow, so realistic, the filtered cigarette, the shovel full of dirt to simulate the aftermath of an artillery shell hitting, the firing of the machine gun that doesn't get fed any cartridges, the awkwardness was so.....realistic. You almost expect dialogue like.....I got you!.....no you didn't.......oh huh........you grazed me ..Hey...stop playing army and come in for supper boys
And do you have something better? If you were expecting Hollywood levels of filmmaking then you should’ve went to the movies. UA-cam is mostly amateur creators you know.
Well, I might have been having a bad day and went into sarcasm mode. So, without sarcasm let me offer constructive critique. Of course you don't have a Hollywood budget, or a host of military advisors, so you will get things wrong. I'm not sure if the machine gun is a Spandau or Maxim or MG08 but neither will 98% of viewers. What they WILL notice are mistimed flashes and an ammunition belt not feeding while bladting out rounds. Uniforms are subject to monetary access, and that's okay. Attention to detail is big for assholes like me. For instance, spiral notebooks didn't come to being till over half a decade after the war. I know you have no pyrotechnics etc, but a thrown shovelful of dirt is not going to convince many that a Albrecht mortar shell just hit nearby. Just about NO German soldier would have flicked off a one puffed cigarette. They were waaaay to scarce. Blockades kept tobacco out of Germany to the point they manufactured tobacco substitutes called Ersatz made out of various leaves. And cigarettes were essential in one of the most nervewracking wars in history. Even high budget Hollywood films are subject to errors. For instance Kevin Costner getting 14 shots out of his Colt 6 shooter in "Open Range"...lol So, i dont know if you're a film student, but if you want to become the next Spielberg I offer 2 suggestions. Even with no budget, details matter. And 2, you will be subject to real asshole critics and have to slough it it off, learn from it, and move forward. I do think there is potential, and i wish you luck moving forward. You obviously love doing it, and that is the number one criteria to becoming a good filmmaker. Good luck!
A lot obviously needs to be improved, but for a few young lads making a ww1 short film with little to no budget, this is pretty good, and I believe if you all had some budget, you could make some pretty good short films. Keep it up guys, I'd like to see what you do in the future
I remember WW1. I was only 3 at the time which proved to be beneficial. When the order came in to "go over the top boys" I was so small the enemy just shot right over me. Good times.
Really enjoyed this. Thank you. I hope you get a chance to visit some of the battlefields of the Western Front someday. Even a hundred years later they are frightening.
4th wall gone. 1st scene " go get water" , would not have needed water after 1 minute of firing. After an hour of constant firing water was needed, when no water piss. Comes off as actors playing.
you guys are very good and kinda bad (in the good way) cuz in this movie when the artillery strike came the guy who got dirt in the head just had it thrown on him which you can see by the amount of spraying and precision of the dirt which makes this slightly humorous. Btw. I hate to admit this but this shortfilm is really unrealistic. First of all the machineguns didn't heat up THAT quickly, second of all soldiers didn't have time to do that close eyes and lay hat on head thing when someone dies in a battle, they just looked, ignored and kept shooting and then finally MAYBE they would have done it when all enemies had retreated or been killed, also couldn't you just atleast have the guy out of screen imitate being shot to death in the distance in the machinegun shooting scene late in the film? But yeah, didn't mean to be rude or anything, im just a perfectionist, i couldn't have done any better myself, overall, great shortfilm.
Wow, so realistic...especially b the WWI era filtered cigarette. You almost expect dialogue like.....I got you!.....no you didn't.......oh huh........you grazed me........Hey...stop playing army and come in for supper
Ottimo

You could almost view this as an alternate history where the Great War never ended. Like how you can see the modern power lines and vehicles driving.

I saw a car at the start! But I kind of like it
Incredible!
amazing film!!! also where did you get the sound effects
All the sound effects were found online
Towards the beginning, the sounds of the battle are from the no man's land attack scene in War Horse.
For your next one, do something about the wind noise. It sometimes drowns out the actors.
We tryed our best on this one turned out to be an awful day for shooting. thank you for your feedback
Three soldiers like three brothers

Next time light the cigarette, mom says it's ok. The uniforms look great!

Work of gunius
I guess you are a gunius yourself. You are not a genius though.
